Started to apply shaders to this Audi obj, but dropped it after I noticed that some textures were shared. Lights with the grill and bodywork with the tyres/tires. The Yosimite HDRI looks good though.
It is possible (but very tedious) to define your own surface groups in DAZ so it is possible to get around that. It is spectacularly frustrating though.
Thought so, I might go back to it at a later date.
I may try to apply new textures in Wings3D, as you can select adjacent poly's with the plus key. Wings3D is an excellent little modeller for tinkering.

5 posts to go then a split folks. We watching it for you.
well after 2 1/2 years of searching i have finally gotten my 1978 chevy monte carlo model for sketchup. here are some renderings of what im planning 2 do when i get my 1978 monte carlo. feed back would b appreciated so i can kno wat u guys think.
This has probably been asked before, but it's a long thread to look through so here goes.
Hope someone can help. I'm looking for a 57 (or 58) Plymouth Fury, like Steven King's Christine.
I use Poser and Bryce so something that'll import in to either of those would be cool.
Meanwhile, my latest design, including the 51 Ford F1 truck.
time to hit the road
There are several on the gta sites, here's one: http://www.gtainside.com/en/download.php?do=cat&id=396&start=7&orderBy;=
and a few in sketchup warehouse:

There are probably more as Christine is a popular car,
And there is the immortal elegance car in the DAZ store.

@usherstang
Are you planning to use Daz Studio to render, if you do you'll have to save the file as a google earth object then rename the extension to .zip.
That will give you the texture maps.
Do a search for obj exporter plugin for sketchup, that will give you the option to save as an obj. Not all conversions will look good though, it depends on the model. If your in luck the surfaces will be separate which will help with re-applying new surface shaders.
There are some good free shaders at ShareCG for the chrome, glass and carpaint surfaces.
Cadillac Fleetwood 1933. (Renderlife model)
Freebie in multi formats from latest 3DArtist mag. (also has Sherman tank)

Sadly I've been down the GTA route before and don't have any software capable of converting the downloads so I can import them into either Poser or Bryce (on a Mac).
I already looked in the Google warehouse and there is one possibility, but again, it's going to be a complicated job to re set all the materials in Bryce because it's not a particularly friendly set of meshes and there are thousands of them which would all need renaming and the materials re-setting. I've downloaded it anyway as a last resort. It looks nice when I render it in Sketchup though (see below). :)
Yes, I'd seen the Immortal Elegance and it's on my Wish List as that really will be the ideal one to use (from past experience)... I can't buy it until I earn some more DAZ credit and I was hoping to get started on my Plymouth renders sooner than that's likely to happen.
Thanks muchly for your help, I really appreciate it. :)
The War of 1956
Okay, we be in the new thread now!
Nice shop pic
Been playing around with several car but I'm not satisfied with them so I thought I'd drag this one out again and do a new render with it just for fun. Oh, by the way, that's a Sketchup 1958 Plymouth rendered in Poser Pro 2012.
Thanks Robert, I had used that same render in the last thread, but wanted to carry it over to this one as well.
WAHOO! Mark III it is. Let's do it again folks.
Cherokee...nice render. Are you sure that's not a 57?
:-)
WOW! Nice reflections and love the chrome. Really nice.
:-)
Lots of cool renders so far.
Nice work Betsy on the caddies!
:-)
I think it ROCKS!
:-)
Love the brown theme for this one. Just super!
:-)
No, it's a 1958. The 1957 had vertical slots for the center section under the bumper and the center "headlights" were smaller.
Here is a photo of a 1957 Plymouth Fury for comparison.

The GTA one is for GTA IV. We have not been able to find a program that will convert these files. Only SA and Vice City.

Try this guy out for GTA conversions to sketchup. About 300 cars here converted. Some are pretty good.
