For the love of Leo
I thought I might have my own art studio thread since I've been really uninspired lately, so I'm going back to some old save files that I either never rendered or didn't render well because of my previous computer's limitations. Many of those featured Leo7 since I really like that figure for some reason that I can't fully explain. And also I don't want to spam galleries and I'm kind of getting sick of the porn cesspool that DA is becoming.
But that's an aside. Anyways, here's the first couple of renders.
A Hitman esque render, because I saw a really cool ad for a whole other vidoe game and wondered if I'd be able to do red glass lenses that reflected a red rim light.
And sort of scifi thingy, that is from an old save and was sort of inspired by a series of books called The Thieves Guild by CG Hatton. I made the hallway and Leo's glasses. Yeah.
Comments
I really like the sci-fi one! You MADE that hallway and the glasses? That's awesome! Well done!
Yes, thank you. I do on occasion poke around Blender. The shaders on it make it look really good.
I love these! I haven't picked up Leo 7 yet but he's now moved up my wish list.
Oh thank you. Full disclosure, I did tweak his skin settings a bit, but he's pretty close to out of the box with these renders.
Here's another render of good 'ol Leo. On vacation to Rome this time. Gotta get that bucket list knocked out. I did discover that I could use Christian's eyebrows on Leo. They're a bit extra bushy and don't perfectly line up with Leo's painted on ones, but it's close enough to work.
Ah, speaking of Sci-Fi, better casting for Mr Fantastic, Reed Richards, than the movies.
@nonesuch00 I agree. He would make a good Reed Richards, might just be the hair though.
Leo and Christian. I really have to work on backgrounds.
So I won the PC Inspiration contest for April 3-16 which is totally neat, since I don't usually win things. And I'm now $5 richer. This was my image:
You can click it to see it full sized.
And I posted this one a few days ago:
once again click to embiggen. If you're interested.
Hey congrats on your thread, it's got lovely renders so far!!!! Love the red rim light, that is a very impressive effect and result. :)
Thank you very much @Novica, I appreciate your comment.
I have a question, if anyone is reading this. If given the choice, for small sized living environments, would you prefer Everything being a seperate prop(walls, floor, roof, doors, door handles, etc), or for the whole thing to be a Rigged prop and to hide walls you'd have to hide a bone or something?
I'm wondering this because I'm sort of making something and it's really tiny as I usually do, but I've got everything as seperate props right now. Even the fixtures are seperate so pretty much every thing could be used in any other environment if you wanted. Whereas in the past with my living space freebies they were rigged figures with like the bathroom and kitchen fixtures attached to the model.
So seperate everything or Rigged figure? Preferences?
and here's a couple of renders of it as it is right now(with a person for scale):
Those look great zombietaggerung I usually prefer sets with separate pieces for kitbashing purposes, but love a preset that includes all.
Thank you Worlds_Edge. And you're in luck. I decided to leave everything seperate. The only rigged figures are the vanity, tub, toilet, fridge, microwave, and kitchen cabinets. I also opted for minimum textures on this, though everything is UV mapped and shader friendly. If you're interested in checking it out you can dl if from one of the links in my signature.
Are you also doing a preset with all included as a set?
I think it is looking great btw!!
Yup. The dl is two presets, one Iray and one 3DL. You can delete things from the preset once it's loaded in. And it's all parented to a null so that you can move it around the scene to accomodate figure placement.
Here are some better renders of the set.

Good golly there's male eye candy up in here! lol :D NICE!
Congratulations on the win!
BTW This one of them playing games and the dude in the back laughing - it's AWESOME! I love it! I see pizza, popcorn, beer, and video games - where's my invite!? lol
Thank you @Divamakeup! The one of them playing the Wii was fun to put together.
Not Leo this time, but Sanjay. And for once the two dforce outfits in his bundle didn't give me any problems. so yay! click to embiggen, if interested.
I made more things. A sort of series.
yay for productivity.
Wow, those sets are amazing! Love the scenes and the way you've set up the lighting.
Thank you @Mollytabby and @FenixPhoenix, I really appreciate the comment. I was trying out a different lighting technique and I'm glad it worked.
I figured I may as well post this over here, since it's my art thread. I forgot to add on the gallery page he's wearing Heath hair, Whiskers for his beard, Variety Facial hair for his brows and CC Foster's body hair. The character is heavily inspired by Jesse McCree from the game Overwatch, which I don't actually play, but I saw some other fanart of the character and got inspired. Also I just like cowboys. Also for as many problems as Alistair had, his skin is utterly gorgeous, I love, love LOVE all the freckles on him.
*fanning myself*
LOL! Thank you
Absolutely stunning render. It’s difficult to believe he’s not real
I don't know why but I've been really inspired by these two characters. I even had an interesting time doing motion blur in Firealpaca, which is a free digital painting program. Not as good as photoshop or as weird a UI as GIMP, but it works for me. Anyways, it required three renders, one with just the background, one with the figures & a shadow catching plane, and one with the figures with no ground. Then motion blur filter on the BG and the wheels and selective blurring the edges of the figures to get rid of that sharp edge. I think it came out pretty good, for a first attempt.
edit: added to my gallery
Wow, that's stunning @zomietaggerung . Amazing work and their facial expressions are perfect. Love it to bits!
