I did buy Elios and I like the male figures shapes in this bundle. I do not care for the outfits- I hardly ever render fantasy or Greek/Roman fantasy, so for me, those are just filler. I wish when bundles were created they would include some contemporary regular kinda outfits.

@firewarden I honestly don't know. When i saw that in the store I was suprised how blatanly obvious is was. One couldn't even say it was just "inspired"; it looks like a complete copy to me. And I don't even play WoW that much and I could tell at a glance.

I played WoW from Burning Crusade until an expansion or two ago, mostly Horde, and Sylvanas Windrunner is one of my faction's heroes.

I'm not saying she's not a beautiful rendition, because she is. But that's not the point.

    @Cris Palomino

    @Richard Haseltine

Is this not a copyright infringement? The orc figure was bad enough but the virtually identical armor wasn't there as a direct character duplication. With Sylvian, there is a definite objective of duplicating a franchise's figure, from the body, makeup, and armor all the way down to the slightly altered name.

What I'd said above: How do artists get by with copying a franchise, such as World of Warcraft? Sylvian is nothing more than a slight, slight variation of Sylvanas Windrunner. It's ludicrous, and if I bought her unknowingly (as I have some other "clones" in the past), I'd be really mad to find out it wasn't an original concept, but a globally recognized figure.

I’m not really into the Warcraft look. Too big and clunky and those eyebrows. But I do think there is certainly more than a passing resemblance. I suspect using that outfit would violate their copyright especially if used in commercial renders. Unfortunately for me, there is a fairly large subset of derivative sci-fi content sold on 3D markets. I’ve been taken more than once thinking something was original only to find something I have purchased is from a game or tv show.

Yep, which is a total turn-off and I think inconsiderate to buyers. I shouldn't have to watch every television show or be versed on every movie, genre, video game, etc to be sure the content I get is at least a TAD bit unique.

BTW, Fast Grab has some really neat things in there!!

And is it 30 days or 60 days for NEW to disappear? Cold Fusion and Wild West Mine (which I mentioned in the sale thread, Commons) both are past 60 days if I calculate right, release dates on April 9 and 10, and May has 31 days. They don't show as New but in cart, it says they are. Tested each for the Gemme flash sale.

    It's 60 days.

edit: sales often have problems with items which recently changed status. My guess would be it's be because the list of items a sale or coupon is valid on is not dynamic but is computed when the coupon is setup, so if it was prepared in advance (before a weekend, for example) it might be missing the newest items when set live.

@leana   Thanks. Had a brain DUH the more I thought about it. And yeah, I remember it happening before regarding New not coming off, but then I started doubting myself on the 30 or 60.  It's been almost an hour and no change.

In case anyone is looking at that Gemme sale, the Wild West Mine also comes with smoke. Take a peek at all you get with that set. It includes interior shots of some of the buildings, a bit hard to tell from the promos but I really like it. Haven't bought it yet as the code isn't working with that one showing NEW.  This is getting beyond OLD Daz! Dump Magento and get a decent cart program!

BTW, anyone know of a decent free forum? Does Wordpress have one? I'd like to do a thread dedicated to Daz products that have texture sets elsewhere, and can't promote other products here, quite understandably. But I'm not going to host a website to do it.  There were several I used to use, but can't remember what they were!

Here's an article that lists some to use with WordPress:

Specific info on Wordpress is under #3.

Okay, they got the Old West Mine fixed. Picked it up for under $10 at that 70% off price. A LOT in that set!

Someone shared a tip with me- if you have NOT used the Gemme-A-FastGrab code yet, PM me. I'll be on and off the computer periodically but will check in and PM you back.

It was the first coupon I used. cheeky  Would have loved to remove the 1x use restriction on it.

I haven't move to DS 4.11.  Today's new products are all the new strand hair.  I would love to hear from those who have used it.  To me, Oso's animals look really plush, like a stuffed animal. Can it look different?  I had my pekingese on my lap and was comparing his fur to the pictures.  I am thankful that his fur is not that dense or trimming him would take twice as long!

I bit and bought Phil's Longdrape Hair

It simulates very quickly on my Mac (no Nvidia).  There aren't many controls for moving the hair around presimulation and not a lot of control over the nature of the hair itself, but it works. I was surpsied how small the package is - about 30MB.  I haven't tried changing the strand colors using some of the hair shader packages yet,

here's a very quick test image

I should add that, given the lack of positioning controls, posing is important.  An attempt at bending over:-)

Did you use the Timeline? Or just Current Frame?

I tried both, but this was letting it go on current frame.

It's funny. I don't really like it. And it's the most realistic hair I've seen at Daz!

Both from his creations and from the user experiments in the one thread in the Commons, it looks like it's really hard to get hair to lay realistically flat on the animals' limbs, muzzles, etc. Oso's Lechuza is kind of the perfect showcase for the technology in its current state because it's a bearlike creature (big shaggy pelt with hair going every which way) with a beaked, hairless face.

I like the shape of PhilW's hairs, but wonder if they would look better with a different shader on them; the "default" hair shader for the new strand hair has been very hit and miss in all the user experiment pics I've seen.

I agree ..  I'm going to keep it, but I suspect second generation pieces will be better.

IT WAS STACKING WITH FAST GRAB. For future reference, always check Fast Grab and put things in the cart when you use a code.  :)  Some things were 90% off.

I'm been doing heavy-duty DIY this past week & got one more week to go so I've been missing, or maybe not so much missing, the new DAZ products this past week.

My impression of Rossy was he was supposed to be an alien of some sort. He vaguely reminds me of Data the Android from Star Trek. I can't see a character being modeled so unintentionally unrealistic and the DAZ QAs accept it and so I think it's intentionally modeled very unrealistically and is supposed to be a sci-fi android character or similar.

Haven't bought a lot of DAZ stuff lately, but I've dipped a first toe in playing with the strand-based hair - along with working my way through the Blender donut tutorial, practicing drawing (yes, the oldfashioned way - well, okay, digitally much of the time), and glancing sideways at the DAZ tuts I have lying around.

Buying stuff and using it really are two separate hobbies.

Also playing with Longdrape hair and getting better results after workng out a few things, will share my learnings when the scene is finished but there aren't many pre simulation shapes (like there are with the other similar product from this artist).  I tried creating my own using morph loader like you can do with older dforce hair (cloth) products but I get the "Geometry did not map, failed to Morph" error and wasn't able to get past this.  Perhaps Morph Loader doesn't work with strand based hair? Anyone been able to do this?  For this particular scene I can't do it all through movement from memorized posie or animation frames as there is oher loose fitting dforce clothes involved and clothes out of position and getting mixed with the hair.....

@pj3d   I'm not ignoring you, I just haven't tried any of that. I'm bogged down with real life at the moment- I sent a LOT of troop care packages overseas the past four months, and some didn't reach their destination, others are logged as not being delivered when they were (I got emails thanking me from the troops!) and the errors continue. So I'm bogged down tracking down shopping receipts, arguing with the post office, etc.

I used the Clothing Converter to fit the Domino and Latin Stage Outfits to Genesis 8 and used Legacy uvs for Genesis 8-victoria-4 to convert the Kenna textures to fit Genesis 8

    Kenna is cute!

In the current Flash sale, here's a suggestion for a family friendly swimsuit- aka less bosom showing and slightly higher waisted bottom- combine the top of RW Triangle Bikini  with the bottoms of the RealFit Ring Bikini and that also includes a wrap for the bottoms! Simply use a shader and get the textures to match. (The bottoms also have the wider crotch, unlike some of the other bikini bottoms.)

God bless you, Novica! Sounds like a big challenge.

I'm including a picture of the DForce Femme Fatale hair. I like it except for the scalp. Do not use this hair with headlamps and the included textures, it will come out too shiny. Always have headlamp turned off.

Rendered these in 4.10 and 4.11 Beta to see what the difference was. Used the same settings for both. The only difference, other than render time, I can see is that 4.11 is slightly lighter, you can see it on the hair if you open both in separate tabs and flick between them. The Beta is the same release number as the full one so is basically the same.

Uh uh, there's a BIG difference. 4.10 is SO much sharper (if you used the exact same settings.) Just two examples-

Look at that section of the wing just behind her head. Keep your eyes on it and click back and forth.  And his head (brow area- the entire curved section behind the eyes/his forehead) has SO much more detail in the 4.10 version!
