new scene in C 8.5
import DUF from DS

I am unable to see that file format in Carrara.....
You are using Carrara 8.5 aren't you? This will not work with an earlier version, but 8.5 should show DUF files as a default.
Carrara 8.5.0.72 64 Pro Bit, not seeing the files as I would see in Daz. Not sure why

That version is a beta.
The current build is 8.5 build 243

sorry I was mistaken, version 8
No Genesis in Carrara prior to C8.5, but perhaps you can get your Gen 4 and earlier characters in via Collada?
I had the wrong program on I have 8.5 now, I now have a issue when I open daz (dui files) the characters show up as white. I looked in the content browser and saw what is in Daz Studio is also in Carrara, what do I have to to make the characters load correctly. Otherwise I will have to recreate in Carrara
Here are the examples
That does not look right. Studio shaders to not always work as expected in Carrara, although 8.5 is better than the earlier versions. There are a bunch of threads on changing the shaders
On the other hands, the morphs should work. Are you opening the files from the Content tab, or doing a File Open or File Import to load the duf?

One other question, are you using the default camera?
File Open (dui)
I've never tried a dui file. Try saving the scene from studio as a .duf file. Then try to open that file and see if it looks better.
Sorry long day last nite "DUF file"
I have had issues with this program for a while since version 8, trying to install on win 8 and removing windows 8 to use win 7, to only be disappointed to not be able to open daz files (duf) Now that we can I want to put forth the effort to see if this will be my primary (or only) programto use. I will also install on a vista OS, I live and die on that platform (it always seemed to be the more stable OS) If so I hope some, if not all issue will go away
Here is a character created in Carrara, One rendered and one not
I will just keep watching more videos on how to use Carrara..
Fenric has a plug-in called shader doctor and skin doctor. It is a tool that will go through and fix a lot of the shader issues. Google Fenric Shader Doctor to find his site.
To do it by hand, go into the texture room and adjust the shininess and highlight channels on each surface. Daz values are sometimes inverted from the Carrara equivalent. So if highlight was set to 80%, you might change that to 20% (it may be 20 to 80, I'm going by memory).
To get into the texture room, select the actor portion (two or three levels down) in you instance window. Then click on the texture room icon at the top right.

What about this one?

Found this as well

There is a lot of good info in the video. Some of it is for the Generation 4 figures, and you will not have all of the same issues. It is a great starting place.
I don't have the advanced shader plug in yet, but I hear it is great. Search the Carrara forums and you will find threads on both.
Good luck.
There is a learning curve when you start with Carrara, but once you get used to it, you will not want to go back.

Ok ty, cant be any harder than Maya or Max I have used those products off and on for years (you need too much to make it work to what you want, lol)
I obtained the the shader, I also had a thought as well. Here is what I came up with, the render would show the actual image.
Sony this shows my point better
I think I'm missing something in this post. Are you asking a question? Noticing a problem? Showing a success?
If you are after a textured preview, there is a row of icons top right of the preview window, if you select the right-most one, this will show a full textured preview.
I wanted to see why I couldnt see what I see normal until I did a quick render, is there a setting that allows me to see similar or not as much, Just not like as I see it now (is it a specular or reflection issue?
Can anyone explain how to use shader doctor?
