Carrara Challenge #47: Structured/Unstructured - Voting Closed - Thank you everyone!
Just a Reminder:
Rules: You are required to post at least one WIP image to the WIP thread with an explanation of how you achieved your Structured or Unstructured element(s).
You can enter as many images as you like, but can only win once. In the case of any ties I will use the method Bunyip02 used in the previous challenge of flipping a coin 5 times to determine the tie breaker.
Images must be rendered in Carrara or any Carrara render engine plugin.
Animations are welcome!
Images must be new (previously unpublished)
Post work is allowed, but it would be nice to have an explanation of what was done so we can all learn.
Use any and all content that is allowed under the Forum Terms of service. Any content that is used should be credited in the Entry Thread.

Discussion: Nothing says structure like a terrain tiled seamlessly by Carrara's replicator, and a parade of cyclopstritch riders kicking up a little dust in some replicators of their own.

Process _ i started out playing with optical illusions by adding Carrara Checker shader to spehers and planes and then rendering them out. These became the w all and floor textures - which are the structured part of the render.
In comparsion the organic of the boy and the organich shape of the couch are used for contrast - they lack the rigid structure of the geometrical patterns.
The objects are rendom things I found in my runtime. The postwork is with Photodonut sjetch - then worked over with Topaz Impression - I used tone mapping in Affinity photo to map out the black and white effect and manipulate local contrast.
PS Congrats Desertdude on a well run challenge!

Process _ i started out playing with optical illusions by adding Carrara Checker shader to spehers and planes and then rendering them out.
I applied the resulting texture to a large plane and rendered out a spherical camera view. Gives that nice serene composition with a bit of dynamic assymetry born of laziness ;)

This is the M4 skeleton conformed to Genesis on the left side, M4 conformed to genesis on the right - with the left side of M4s body hidden in the mesh room.
Post work in photodonut and affinity photo with some custom watercolour paper and ron's watercolour brushes.
The figure is standing in a glass dome but it's hard to tell.
I also rendered out passes in toonpro

Credits: Daz Dinosaurs, Howie Farks
Discussion: There's not much to say about the idea itself, except that I love dinosaurs and I wanted to show them as they were moments before the world changed. I used the models I had on hand, so they're probably wrong for the end of the Jurassic. I did shader tweaks on the dinosaurs. The ferns were a combination of those that I modeled myself, and some that Howie Farks included in one of his scenes. The same with the trees. Some came from the Carrara browser, some Howie Farks made, and some I did. Postwork included using render passes, such as the depth pass to add the depth of field and other minor tweaks.

Products Used: Genesis 2 female - Kori character, Long Locks Carrara dynamic hair, Callidora leg wraps and arm bands.
Notes: I was playing around with Carrara's soft body physics and the idea for this image came to me. I had been working on a temple set and felt it fit the structured/unstructured theme of the challenge. I used Affintity Photo to add depth of field, paint out a minor collision artifact, and add noise and blur to give it more of a photographic look.

Title: Midnight Showing at Soggy Bottom
Artist: UnifiedBrain
Links to WIP: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4638356/#Comment_4638356
Credits:
My first thought when presented with the idea of "Unstructured Structure" was the Soggy Bottom product from TangoAlpha. The structure part of his scene is impressive, including multiple replicated tree and terrain surfaces, which means loading and saving are super fast. The unstructured part is more the illusion he creates by making the scene appear to be somewhat wild and haphazard. It's a wonderful product and I can't recommend it highy enough.
The goal here was to highlight the wilder potential of his product. It is a darker evening scene, using the GMIC filters to help give it a more abstract or painted look.
A big shout of appreciation to Philemo for bringing GMIC to Carrara. I can never thank him enough.
Products besides Soggy Bottom include "Crocdile" from Carrara objects, Black Widow Spider, Noggin's Dragonflies, Giant Fantasy Snake, and The Girl (original Girl).

Credits: The female is LaRoo2, from RDNA and Daz. Love those older gals. The shorts are LaRoo clothes, and the top is from V4 Barbarian. Hair is Radiant Jaguar.
The "unstructured" background was created by using a couple of Ron's incredible PSE products, sold here at Daz.
For the monochrome-ish look (LaRoo), I used the Anguish filter in GMIC.
Postwork in PSE with Ron's brushes.

Title: The World of Aiko 3
Artist: UnifiedBrain
Links to WIP: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4691996/#Comment_4691996, https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4699701/#Comment_4699701, https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4701246/#Comment_4701246
Credits: Aiko 3's outfit is a kitbash (thanks to Carrara's modeler) of DClassy and A3 Nurse (both available at Daz). Moko hair is a nice 3rd party freebie.
For the background, I used PhilW's Carrara masterpiece called Night and Day City. It was my first time to take it for a spin, and I was impressed. To get a little more structural symmetry than usual, I rendered the city in the bottom half of the screen and saved it. In the same scene, I opened the render, and used it as a backdrop - but flipped upside down. That was also saved, and the combined result was used as a backdrop for Aiko. So, if you look at the setup pic, you will see the city is made of a single image that has been flipped. But I only wanted to suggest symmetry, so I added the blimps and some clouds to make it less obvious. Aiko masks the symmetry as well.
The mechs are Petipet's Robot Titan, with Michael 3 making a brief appearance in the custom head. The blimps are Carrara objects. Other processes include Carrara cloud, light cone, a touch of GMIC, and text. No GI or HDRI, etc.
No postwork.

Discussion: I wanted to do a humorous image, and this one came to mind. I used Affinity Photo to add a DOF using Carrara's depth pass. I also rendered a couple other passes, such as a GI pass, etc. to enhance the look of the scene. I added noise and a very slight gaussian blur to give the final image more of a photographic look.

Title: A Miasma of Burbling Angry Flesh

I like the madness that this image portrays, where a psychotic struggle is juxtaposed against a serene, green backdrop; a 'strikingly' good image!
I though I'd read to choose 5, but it seems that's just been changed to read 4, so I'm dropping choice 2 from my list - sorry Stezza!
