I will say that when it works it tends to work very well indeed. Most of my distortions come up when I try to use it on items for a figure it wasn't designed for (and am suspecting that this may be a taste of what I might get if I later try to convert a male G2 or 3 item directly to G8F) or the problem of the conversion being fairy gold and turning into grey boxes overnight.

So far that hasn't happened to anything that I've converted from Genesis. So it *seems* to be limited to gen4 content and earlier -- which was basically all Poser content.

The only thing that is inconvenient is that the conversion detaches the content from the rigging and one can no longer select a bone in the scene tab and make that part of the item invisible by clicking on the visibility icon, or adjust the positioning with the transform sliders. But I suppose you have to make a trade-off somewhere.

I think that is my coat sir and I will thank you very much for giving it back,I'll just go back into my quiet ,padded cell now ......

But can you force convert them if you want to? I mean, I am all right with the results not being ideal when compounding transfers and having to fix some things, but not having the option at all is a bit annoying.

Right now, no.  If the script detects the converter morph, it will skip that item.  This was to prevent having lots of people complaining about the results.  That said, I am open to making it an option if that is what people want.

That would be appreciated, but maybe we could see how poor the result is before we inundate you with unreasonable requests... Nah wink

With the cross gender product, you won't lose the rigging.

Sickleyield and I discussed it and this option (off by default) will be in an update submitted soon after release.

    *glee*

More seriously, I have hundreds (I am not saying thousands because I don't want to make myself sad) of wardrobe items converted from previous generations. Even if the conversion is not ideal, I am sure I can find something of value with the option.

  • And it is released!

I would expect the update late next week.

  • No hesitations buying it here: this will definitely take the tedium out of doing it the old ways (SY's original method and Cross-Fit). I've only encountered some issues with a few Aeon Soul items not converting and thus having to be force converted... but they still turn out good regardless. I'll experiment more when I get home from work.

Either way, ILU both and you will always have my money with these things~

Perhaps I am not understanding, but I just want to double check.

If we have the other convserion productions: G to G8, G2, to G8, G3 to G8 products and have converted our male and female clothing library,  we are able to use Cross Gender product on those item, correct?

Just for converting practical footwear for females this is worth it. I can ignore décolletage and the like but I draw the line at combat outfits (sci-fi, medieval, etc.) with high heels. My suspension of disbelief snaps. For those of you who like high heels, more power to you, but as for me I prefer practical footwear.

    Thank you for this product.

And the girls in armor can now have boots without stilletto heels. Woo-hoo.

    This.

Every time I forget that I should probably only do a few targetted outfits at a time. Instead of converting EVERYTHING.

Ok, hour 1 of 5 down...

VERY pleased... did Gunslinger ( https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-gunslinger-for-genesis-8-males ). Ended up swapping the hat out... something about the original hat didn't grab me.

Impressed by how well it did the duster (dforce helps, but ... having a strong starting point is key), layered clothing, and so on. The boots got a little wobbly, but decent.

You do realize, of course, that the release of this product is going to result in an entire thread mostly filled with male characters in frilly undergarments?  Monty Python would be so happy.

Though, that does beget the question - will this product be able to convert a cute little set of pumps or slingbacks to G8M proportions?

Not to mention the Kinks and their Dedicated Followers of Fashion.

Another, this time Alexandra in Mid Victorian male outfit. Postwork obscures things a bit, but it did a great job.

I did have to hide some layers of clothing, but I run into that with most layered stuff even if it hasn't been refitted.

Right now, no.  After the update comes out next week, yes, IF you turn on the option (which will be off by default).

You're welcome!  I agree too.  Some of the female combat outfits are completely ridiculous and the shoes are insane! laugh

These look really, really great @Oso3D!  Now I think I need to convert those outfits.  Thanks for sharing.

  • BTW, for this product, I made the dialog show you the tip pictures at the expense of some screen real estate.  I thought it was helpful as you probably don't want to convert everything in an outfit.  Do people like it, or prefer it off?

  • Well, I said I would buy it and I did! I can't wait to start playing around properly with it tomorrow. The quick tests I've done tonight, G8F > G8M, have been mostly fabulous! It works quickly, and the converted items fit nicely. Worth every penny so far. I've been complaining ever since I switched over to G8 from Gen 4 that there aren't any robes with slim sleeves for the G8M set like there were for M4, and while the décolletage is obviously a problem in some instances, I've gotten far closer to what I've been wanting by just converting some of the more modest G8F dresses.

Smart Content compatibility is also huge for me, as someone with memory problems who frequently has difficulty interacting with the Content Library. Perhaps in a future update, we could have a script to install a RiverSoftArt menu bar item if we want one? It would be great to have all of your amazing scripts grouped together and easily accessible without the need to go into the Content Library each time.

Regarding tips, in general I think it's nice to have tips turned on by default, but with the option to disable them if we don't want to see them. For the forgetful sort like me, it's sometimes nice to have them there for a while, or even forever given my tendency to need reminders. I don't mind sacrificing a bit of screen real estate for that.

Been getting errors with a couple of items, for instance the dress from the Kakenda Outfit, though have been able to force convert them successfully. I can upload the log information from the failed standard conversion in the morning, if you would like to see it.

Very excited about the impending update to convert previously up-converted items!

Have you thought of right clicking on your icons and turning it into a Custom Action?  With DS 4.12, you can even assign them all to a RiverSoft Art submenu under the Root menu.

Thank you for the feedback.  The images can be turned off in options.

The errors are normal.  There is always some clothing items that have wrong metadata and report they are not clothes.  If you look at the log tab in the dialog, it will tell you WHY something fails to convert.  Usually, it is to do with wrong metadata.

  • The update that makes it optional to convert converted clothes from RSSY G2/G1/M4V4 should now be live in the store.
