HI Holly :)
I'm not sure if this is the one that Artistx means,.
http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=38065
they were looking for beta testers,. I believe they've got them now, and the beta testing phase is under way
You should check out the site gallery / videos etc.
there's a demo available.
To have Octane in Carrara, you'll need to buy the Standalone Octane renderer,. plus the Carrara plug-in.
pricey,.. but worth it,. (in my opinion).
I think they're talking about Reality.
The author came to us once before, and many of us responded positively, yet he declared that there wasn't enough responses to go forward.
One thing about that, however, is that many Carrara users do not frequent this forum. So you may not get the expected results from such a poll. But I haven't heard of the new poll either. So evidently, he's still not getting the word out enough for a proper interest polling. Well, that's my opinion.
No andy its not, if you remember Pret-a-3d ran the survey on the old daz forum if memory serves
I'm going to go with Octane's release for Carrara. I was selected for Beta testing (then not - long story of bad luck - not blaming anyone), and it was mooted it may last 3 weeks or a lot longer. Over 3 weeks us up.
I hope so anyway - I've been frantically clearing the decks so I can be on it from day one.
:D
I guess I have to be nice to the parents and see if I can get a loan, If it is Octane being released :)
Or sell somethings you don't really need. I am always doing this with synthesizers (my other passion), and it regularly feels like Christmas, as I move out of one sound into another. I recently sold the drum kit for example.
Good luck!
That reminds me of ex-drummers, chins hung low...
"I told you, man.. never sell your kit 'till you've replaced it first!"
You can see that the kit I use in my band now is the same one from that video from 1992! :)
Sometimes, the money goes too fast, and is gone... to replace something valuable for it. Then you're still stuck in the same jam, but without any cool stuff.
Arghh! So as Corel X7 is out, it's time for me to make a decision.
Dartan,
Fortunately I would never really call my self a drummer, I could play a bit. I'm more keyboard and bass.
I have a huge announcement of my own. Starting a new thread now...
Indeed, I was debating Lightwave3D or Maya, but decided on Bryce.
Sadly, there is no smiley to adequately represent a facepalm...
Sadly, there is no smiley to adequately represent a facepalm...ROTFFLMFAO!!! :snake:
The date is nearly here...
I sure hope it is 9, or at least a free pizza.
...or it could be an April Fool!
My feeling as well. It has been suggested a couple times in this thread.
Maybe it will be a huge announcement about an upcomming super huge announment about a latter anouncment that will make all previous annoucments about the announcement seem insignificant ??
Perhaps! LOL
But we can dream...!
You're thinking of your lava planet again!
Oh... right!
Hey, Phil... do you think that they'll release EnvironKits - Badlands tomorrow, and that... that is the bid news DA is referring to? Maybe?
Could well be - but how did he know in advance?! Spooky...
Calm down buddy. Take some deep breaths. Drink a glass of wine (I am...a nice white from Idaho...).
Personally my money is on, "Seriously UNDER-whelming announcement." Call it thrice-burned caution...
I knew that! I also knew that you knew that I knew that. Did you know that? ;-)
Calm down buddy. Take some deep breaths. Drink a glass of wine (I am...a nice white from Idaho...).

Ahhhh, good old potato liquo- I mean, potato wine! Yeah, that's what I meant. That's the ticket!
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar!
 Well my friend did send me four bottles...two wines and two vodkas.
Calm down buddy. Take some deep breaths. Drink a glass of wine (I am...a nice white from Idaho...).
Personally my money is on, "Seriously UNDER-whelming announcement." Call it thrice-burned caution...I had some potatoes and milk, does that count, even though the two weren't mixed until they made it to my stomach?
Perhaps it's just an ordinary announcement but in very big writing. The Daz April Follies sale, or something...
:coolcheese:

On behalf of all Brits here on the board....allow me to introduce you to.......and this is no April Fools Joke......
R O A S T P O T A T O E S !
More than you ever wanted to know about them at link below, but better than mashed, or even french fries (chips) or any other way!
Basically quarter or half 6-8 med sized ones after peeling,, boil for 15 mins to just get the very outside soft. Rinse, drain. Put back in pan to toss with cover on to get that outside soft part to get full of nooks, pits and crannies (like terrains). After that gentle bashing, I toss in a plastic bag with olive oil and after they are evenly oiled, put in a tsp of flour, toss some more, then lay out with space between them in a baking pan using a few tablespoons of olive oil which is already hot in the pan so they don't stick. Lightly, very lightly sprinkle with salt to make crispy outsides. Takes about 45 mins to hour...depending on size and if you have a fan oven. Use tong to turn over halfway through. It's the sharp edges you got when cutting them which determine which way to turn them to get golden brown.
Can't eat them all if you made more? No problem, slice them up the next day into medallions and wahlah... home fries!
Surprise Rosie...make them for Easter Sunday dinner if you celebrate Easter. Or wait till Mother's Day in US if you need practice time. ;)
I have to confess I don't always make home-made ones. I don't buy the ready prepped frozen ones, but have bought the half-prepared fresh ones that just need finishing off in the oven.

Now, when I come back there better be a better announcement than THAT!
:-P xx Silene
