@Novica, I recently saw a picture of an actress who in the 1960/70s was all smooth and gorgeous, with delicate skin, and today, she had that soft look of the blended Bridget/Mrs. Chow. Women often do age that way. So, if someone wanted to age up a young character, Mrs. Chow would give them a option for that softer, older lady appearance. Wait till I post Christian and Lucas.

So I wanted to try Christian 8 and Lucas 8 and added in both of their HD morphs as well. I ran into a hick-up when I went to switch to Lucas's skin and threw an error. Apparently his materials had become corrupted since the last time I used him. This issue has been happening on both of my render computers, and I had to save my work, close DS, the open DIM and uninstall, then reinstall. Then reopen DS, and open the file again. No problem accessing the skin materials then. I used Corporate Hair on them.

As others have probably noted elsewhere before, the mixing of a younger character with a similar older character, allows for a slight aging up or down of the two. Depending on how much of the sliders you moved, I expect someone could easily show previous glimpses of an older character's life this way. Or foreshadow a younger person's life.

    Mary

I saw that Leroy had been picked, so I switched to Darius 8 to mix with Diego 8 and put them in Theo Hair. The blend is interesting. Wonder what they would look with doing thirds with Dasan 8?

LOL- I was referring to the RAPID aging  :) No one wants to go THAT fast!  It was like BOOM!

I know what you mean about wonky computers. Things that should work don't unless you fiddle.
To not get spacing in the list, hold down SHIFT when you hit Enter.  yes   Then it goes to the next line.

If you want to try a thirds, feel free! (Just don't add it to the list)

Can my boys come out to play too? (Sorry they are a bit speckly, I have to render by CPU and didn't have the patience to wait for full convergence).

First up: 50/50 Owen and Dain with Stylish Shaved Hair. Lighting is setting 06R from Pro-Studio HDR Lighting System 2 - oh, and the skin translucency is set to the lower setting.

    Owen's skin:

And finally poor unloved Lucas and Dasan.

Here's my 50/50 combo of Dain 8 and Leroy 8, in order: Leroy default materials, default SubD; Leroy materials with Leroy HD at 100%, SubD 4; Dain default materials, default SubD; Dain materials with Dain HD at 100%, SubD 4.

    Leroy8 plus Dain8, by L'Adair

    Leroy8 HD plus Dain8, by L'Adair

    Dain8 Plus Leroy8, by L'Adair

    Dain8 HD Plus Leroy8, by L'Adair

Lighting uses Easy Portraits - Light Presets: Easy Portraits 02, Easy Portraits Film 150, Easy Portraits Contrast Higher. These render with Draw Dome: On by default, so I left it that way.

Hair is Sanjay Hair, with a combination of presets from OOT IrayPair Hair Shaders, (available at Rendo,) and my own slight color modifications applied. (Darn thing would not render without weird over-light pixels with both the included Iray materials and MMX's product, with this lighting!)

Note: Normally when using Dain 8, or other gen 8 figure with ridiculous (imo) over-large traps, I use the Genesis 8 Male Body Morphs to reduce the effect. I did not do that here. If you're interested, I modify the Traps Size parameter, changing the minimum to -100%. Then I dial it down as needed. (That's about -86% for Dain 8 out of the box.)

ETA: I think the version with Leroy's materials looks quite a bit like Denzel Washington. A few more tweaks and… who knows?

@L'Adair, I'm rendering my Edie/Mabel HD images with 50% of each HD morph. Maybe that is not the right way to do it. I'm still working on my renders. I got sidelined by strange appearance of the teeth when applying the HD morphs. I was not aware that morphs could change the appearance of the textures, but I have double, triple quadruple checked, and I cannot find an error in the scenes. Could it be that the HD morphs make the teeth thinner or something, making the light affect them differently?

@MelanieL those are great. I am not sure why Lucas is so unloved, I think he is a great base character to work with. I used Dasan 8's skin in my third combo, and that render is on a shut down computer for the night.

As a side note, as I went through my library of G8M characters, I noted that there are a few neglected core characters that only have 2 or 3 add-ons. That is sad. Mr. Woo and Tristan 8 both deserve more.

I thought about mixing the HD, but decided against it. I also rendered each with 50% of the HD, but didn't see much difference between that and the 100% versions. Maybe SubD 4 wasn't enough.

I've never noticed an issue with teeth. I've got the Leroy/Dain scene open, so I'll take a closer look…

I did notice that rendering with 50% HD for each of Mabel and Edie actually seems to REDUCE the detail of Mabel. I think maybe the Edie 8 HD is counteracting some of the shaping of Mabel. I have looked looked to see if I am doing something wrong, and I can't see anything. This exercise has opened my eyes to strangeness I wasn't aware of before. I'm almost done with my renders. I'll post them soon.

    Edie 8   Mabel 8
For the HD version, I used 50% of each character's HD morphs. I was also careful to turn off normal maps on the character's  materials after dialing in the HD morphs. The non-HD versions use the normal maps as loaded with the non-HD character. (Daz non-HD characters use normal maps to simulate the HD detail. Daz HD characters don't load with normal maps; they us actual HD morphs to generate the detail. When you load a non-HD character and then dial in the HD shape, if you don't remove normal maps from the materials, you end up with double effect. Of course, you may choose to use both if you prefer, but that is not representative of the way Daz delivers the HD characters. I used the provided settings preset to turn normal maps OFF after dialing in the HD shape.)

    Edie 8 50% Mabel 8 50% with Edie 8 Materials

    Edie 8 50% Mabel 8 50% with Mabel 8 Materials

    Edie 8 HD 50% Mabel 8 HD 50% with Edie 8 Materials
Something strange happened to the Edie 8 teeth materials render just by applying the HD morphs. I don't understand it, but I can't find any mistake that I might have made.

    Edie 8 HD 50% Mabel 8 HD 50% with Mabel 8 Materials
This render has less Mabel 8 detail than the render without any HD. I think the 50% Edie 8 HD must be counteracting the Mabel 8 shape.

I tested numerous combinations with Dain 8, changing SubD, adding Dain's HD, switching to Leroy's HD, and so on. I saw no difference in the teeth at all. I did notice the teeth had relatively deep ridges. So I checked the materials and found the bump was set to 2.0. That is probably fine for distant shots, keeping the surface from looking too polished. But it's a bit much for closeup.

It could be because the two I chose are fairly "normal" guys. Edie and Ollie are both more extreme shape morphs. Perhaps that's why you're seeing this issue with the teeth.

This is the first time I've ever rendered Toon Dwayne 8. Probably the last time, too. laugh

    Lee 8 50% and Toon Dwayne 8 50%, Lee 8 materials.

    01 Lee 8 Toon Dwayne 8

Lee 8 50% and Toon Dwayne 8 50%, Toon Dwayne 8 materials, without the separate eyebrows anatomy.

    02 Lee 8 Toon Dwayne 8

The eyebrows attachment doesn't follow the modified shape very well. In fact, I don't recommend using them for a figure blend like this. Either use one of the fiber mesh brow products, or add painted brows using LIE. Anyway, you can see just how bad they look here.

ETA: That's Hellboy's Top Knot Hair, by the way. In case anyone was wondering.

Alexandra and Leisa are interesting. I really like Leisa's materials!  Now I have a confession- I was surprised to see materials impact the facial  features so much in that they look like morphs to me. Or what I consider morphs.  I always thought of the materials as the "skin covering" on top the mesh, and the morphs as the mesh.  Two separate things. The eye wrinkles using Alexandra materials are so deep compared to Leisa's materials, those would have been a morph to me, aka part of the mesh. The wrinkles aren't just drawn in, they catch light and make shadows, right?  I don't model or do materials, so I haven't a clue.

     Am I making sense?

It's probably Alexandra's normal maps that make her crows feet look so deep. I bet if you put her normals on Leisa it would look the same.
