@fishtales  I like what you did, I hate those bales of hay though. They look like compact plywood to me. There's not a single straw out of place and no real hay straw lines (long straw sticks.) Just not the type of hay bales I'm used to seeing around the horses.

@fishtales That rather reminds me of our first tractor, a grey Massey Ferguson - not quite the right shape, but grey, old and rickety, just the same.

Yeah this model's based off of the Ford F9n manufactured from 1940 - 1950

The Massey Ferguson TE20 looks very similar

I know, I thought that too. It was the best I had though :)

It reminded me of this only in a block :)

I used to gather up baled hay as a kid and then put it in the barn for storage over winter so I could feed our landlord's cows. It would cause me awful asthma but there is actually treatment for that now via allergy immunotherapy which I'm getting now for the next 3 years. That house we lived in was full of rats! I guess the house was build too close to the barn.laugh

Regarding hay bales- anyone see any more than these?

Harvest Hay Bales seems too sticky for me, some of the hay straws are too thick/stiff.

Farm Gear doesn't have the stickies, but at least there's some straw lines in the bales.

FG Barn looks good but it's from a distance so don't know  same with i13 Modern Barn

Barn Yard - though they are like wooden blocks

    Horse Stable Props

I think I have some free ones I picked up for this very reason, will check when I get on my Render laptop...

Okay this isn't going to be allot of help unless someone can find the links but I have ones in folders called

DNA Halloween, (freebie from RDNA, probably no longer available), Haybale, SquarePeg3D. All in Poser format

While trying to find links I also came across

The best I found in my stuff: i13 Modern Barn Environment

    It's the hay bale detail

     French Cowshed

The selection of hay to use is unappealling.sad

From back to front/left to right

    I13 - Oreste

    Pred - ArtCol

    Deepsea - Backwoods (DS)

A ROG level of detail barn with props would be awesome!

@3ddreamer  One of those on cgtrader looks pretty good- the $7 one. The 27.30 one is of course the best, but I'd rather do postwork than fork out $27 for a hay bale!

A character study for a project I'm starting.

The second woman from the left is FWSA Safa HD pretty much straight out of the box, wearing the 9 to 5 Dress Outfit with some minor tweaking. The other three are all Freja skins (Mikaela, Alfhild and Sara left-to-right) but their shapes and outfits are kitbashed together from innumerable products. I've had a lot of fun digging through my runtime mixing and matching items, it helps me understand why it takes my girlfriend so long to get ready sometimes!

Poses are mostly from Stand Tall for Monique 7, which is great for general standing-around-not-posing-for-the-camera stuff. Lighting is from iRadiance Light Probes 4.

    @chris-2599934

They look great. And I can instantly tell what they do, based on clothes, which all look like they were designed to work as outfits, not kitbashed. Thanks for reminding me of that pose set, I found I have it. Need to make sure I have moved it up to Genesis 8 use now.

If you haven't used your PC+ coupon for the required $18 one, you can pick up the Luxury Limousine Bundle. It's $18.38 so take $6 off and it's 73% off at $12.38. If you don't use it on that, you may find something else. It's getting near the end of the month :)

And if you have used it but still want something from the flash sale don't forget that the PLATINUM-PERKS coupon for an extra 20% off is still useable multiple times.

I don't think the i13 Modern Barn bale looks great up close.

I personally like the one by SquarePeg3D: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/bale-of-hay---100-free/79103&ca

I think I'd like to see a lot of common fruit & nut trees modeled in the DAZ 3D Store. I know there is an apple orchard and I have it but that's actually the only such I've seen. OK, I know it isn't going to happen unless I learn to model well enough to make those myself. I mean who's looking for American persimmon or American paw paw trees for their DAZ renders anyway? I just spent $750 today on 22 new fruit & nut trees to add to my yard. I have 4 more fruit trees to go and then my yard is full. I'm so excited to be wrapping up the main plans for my mow-free yard of the future! smiley And you guys thought your DAZ 3D content libraries could get out of control! laugh

Fruit & Nut trees products in the DAZ 3D Store? Have I missed them somehow?

Did you all pick up the Soldat Outfit and textures?

On both the front and the back of the jacket, the texture has what looks like the guy would have spilled something on his jacket and tried to wash it off.  Although, how he would have spilled it on the back of the jacket ...

I made an inquiry and was told that those spots are in the promos as well, so it must be intentional. surprise I guess I am getting more nit picky the larger my library becomes.

Yes, it makes a nice starting point, thanks for pointing it out.  It isn't good at all up close either though in the lighting I chose, and lighting can make a big difference.

    So compare these three.

    Default SquarePeg3D

Plus 9 bales of SquarePeg3D Scaled / Layered On Top Each Other

    A Better Bale of Hay

See closeups/explanation in the above post.

I'm going to be a real team player :)  and give you the settings for every single bale of the ten, so you don't have to take an hour and a half to figure them out. Then you can tweak from there. You can easily bring some of the bales in toward the middle to shorten the straws. I kept the strings hidden, those should only show on the top and bottom of the bale (which isn't seen.) If you rotate the bales, make SURE there are no strings on the side of the bale.

The settings will be as follows- the X, Y, Z translations/  the X, Y, Z rotations/  SCALE, then  X, Y, Z Scale. An X means don't bother it. In other words, these go straight down the line in your Parameters Tab. I'll identify Scale for you so you know you're where you should be.

    4.81   15.94   -1.54  /  x  x  x  /  (91.5 Scale)  x  x  x

    28.19   47.05   -3.04  84.93   x  -0.20  /  (58.6 Scale)  x  x  x

    0.60   14.91   0.030  /  0.20  x  x  x  /  ( x Scale)  x  x  x

    -23.06   52.05  -5.19  82.60  -0.97  x  /  ( Scale 56.2)  x  x  x

    -76.08   48.72   5.16   -7.41   -2.71   -94.27  /  (x Scale)  40   127.1   93.3

    40.44   50.88   -11.07  -1.77   x   -87.12   (x Scale)   31.1  44.7   56.4

    23.12   43.82   -2.36  x   82.15   -81.28   /  (74.5 Scale)  62.7  x   x

    0.60   18.48   -9.02  /   x   x   x   /  (x Scale)  93.3   90   79.5

    -0.21   29.55   24.09  x   x  x  /  (x Scale)   x   73.4   16.7

    11.68   -4.33   4.02  x  x  x  /  (x Scale)  81.3  x   x

BTW, you will need to scale your men up to 150.8% (or so, depending on the man)  for a hale bale to be the correct proportion to real people. The bale is WAY too big.  Even doing that, I scaled the bale down to 84.6 % and the Z (width)  was WAY too wide, so I put it at 88.4%.)

Newbies- TIP:  you select your bales in Scene then go up to Create> Group and create a group. Then you drag all the bales under the first bale, so whatever you do to it, you do to all of them That's how I was able to Scale everything down to 84.6 and 88.4 percents.  Then when you move the bale, all the ones embedded it in will move, too.  And when you're creating a group, you can still select each one and fiddle with them, they remain individual props.

Compare this hay bale with the ones in the background. I think those look like squares with patterns just printed on them. No hay bale in my experience, no matter how compressed, is completely lacking sticky hay straws.

Intentional or not, those look worse than just "wear."  It isn't being nit-picky, that should be OPTIONAL as a material, not the default.

What was the best deal you folks got on Alana? With the 30% promo  BETTER-30  you can get 30% off instead of that extra 20% that was in the purple banner.  Then going into stores that are 60% off, that makes it a really nice price. (Keep all these 10 items or less. Do the 4 Alana Add Ons to drop the price, then that 30%.)   So is this the best deal?

https://www.daz3d.com/beautiful-nature-trees now in fast grab has a lemon tree. Also a lemon tree here:  https://www.daz3d.com/the-private-garden  I feel almost positive that I once purchased a small orange tree but now I can't find it in the store.
