The Daz site is SO SLOW to download from. Fifteen minutes and still on FOUR products. The rest of the sites are fine. Anyone else trying to use DIM? Mine is a measlely 9.9mb.
EDIT- and it ain't me. Here's my speed test:
PING ms 37
DOWNLOAD Mbps 276.16
UPLOAD Mbps 28.19
The Short Wet Hair for G8 also includes wet skin geometry shells! I haven't tried them yet. They are listed in the 4th column under the What's Included section. There is a forum thread about the wet skins here.
Weird request-
1. go to your product library and type in Hotel Bunk Bed Room
2. if you have it, click on the order date.
3. go to that order and see what other products you bought with it.
4. Clear the search and have your library sorted by newest first (aka, not alphabetical.) Scroll through your product library (if it's not too far back, sorry!) and see if those products AND the Hotel Bunk Bed Room are there, together, since they were bought together. Mine isn't.
But if I type it in the Product Library search, it's there. Somewhere. This is concerning if you use the Product Library to search your most recent purchases. In DIM, it was there, and in the same order as when I bought it. It's NOT RIGHT in the Product Library.
Edit- and when I say not there, I'm talking going three or four PAGES past those items I bought with it, and it's not there.
I did not purchase the product, so I can't help check the craziness. I have resorted to comparing my order receipt with what is shown in DIM to make sure I actually have with what I ordered.
@gitika1 Have you ever found a problem with something not being there? My problem at the moment is Product Library.
I do have another question because I am going to be very selective with what I install into the studio. My studio was slower than goo because I installed everything. However, the problem I am having is this:
If you download the product (so it's in the download column) and then move Product A to a folder so you have it- but you DO NOT INSTALL IT, the stupid thing moves back to the Ready to Download first column again in DIM. It's like it's saying, "Can't fool me, you moron!" That's really going to become a long list at the beginning of my Download list in that first column! Is there a way to take a downloaded product out of the second column (Downloads) without it popping back to the first column when you refresh DIM?
Why would you move the downloaded zip file to some other folder? What is the problem with leaving it in the Downloaded list?
Well, that answers that question I asked in the previous post. :( Age of Bullwarg HD is missing from DIM. See if you have it?
Isn't that just the bundle's name?
Yes!!!! :) Thank you! Trying to print out the Product Library list, download files, and make folders all at the same time has my brain fried after six hours :(
Yes, that's the bundle, not a product.
I'd have WAY too many. I don't want to install all my content, and that Download column would go on forever. I don't want to have to type product names in to get to them. While the newest ones would show up at top, that doesn't help me while I'm working my way through 20,000+ products.
In the Spring I went on a sorting spree and uninstalled products that I know that I will never use; and yet, have the odd need to hold on to the file. =P Novica, you can right click (while in the DIM) on the product and tell it to hide the downloaded zip. You still have the file if you want to install it later; you will still get updates in DIM, but you won't have to remember if there was a reason it is sitting there and not installed. (The Zip file isn't moved it is just hidden from view in DIM.)
And yes, I have had issues multple times with purchased products not showing up in DIM and having to download them manually; then pop them into the DIM folder. At first I thought it was only really old content, but that newer ones sporadically will be missing in DIM. Bundles are inconsistent. An example, Polish's products: the individuals are in DIM, the Nature Plants Bundle is not, but Nature Plants Bundle 02 is.
I had just done that one last hour, and was looking for the first one. Good to know I'm not just going nuts. I wonder if there's supposed to be something for the Nature Plants Bundle itself?
I have Nature Plants Bundle, but not number 02, so put that on wishlist. PA Sale coming. But what I saw on both bundle's promos was a similiar layout, three packs of plants or trees. Can't see why the actual bundle for 02 would be in DIM. Does it have any files associated with it alone, that would not otherwise be available, to encourage you to buy the bundle?
Yes, it has files, in Data there's several tree named files, Environments has the 04, 05, 06, etc. Runtime has Textures. So wonder why the first three 01-03 don't have files in the Nature Plants Bundle listing. Maybe this second one is just bundled differently.
As far as I can tell, the "bundle" won't show up in DIM unless it actually has files to download.
For example, I recently purchased the Medieval Dinner Hall Bundle, which has three products bundled in it. It also has a few presets on it's own, so there is a file to download. The file shows up in DIM as Medieval Dinner Hall Bundle. On the other hand, the Age of Bullwarg HD bundle does not have any files to download other than the seven bundled products, so there is no reason for it to show up in DIM.
I recently uninstalled all but the most basic files for Daz Studio on this computer. It's too underpowered to really do anything, and I only use it occasionally when I'm answering questions in the forum and need to verify the name of a parameter, or path of a menu item, etc. I now have 177 files installed on this machine, including all my tutorials. (The Beast doesn't have audio.)
But I still use DIM to download all the files to my 8TB external drive as a backup, so I hide the files after downloading in the Ready to Install tab. If I ever need to install a product on this machine, I can type a keyword into the search field, and enable the option to Display Hidden.
I can't think what they were, but weren't there bundles that did have special files that only appear in them, and if you just bought the individual products you wouldn't get them? (Yeah, I know gens, but other than that. I have some, but can't remember what they are.)
Daz Horse 2 has content for the Starter Bundle and content for the Pro Bundle, neither of which is available in the store individually.
It has caused disgruntlement because those two packages are the Breed shapes and materials, and people who had already purchased the horse and other products in the bundle, (or gotten them for free,) still had to buy the Pro Bundle to get all of the breeds Especially after the Centaur 7s were introduced and you needed those breeds and materials for addons for the centaurs.
That's the only one I know of, but there could be others in the older content.
It was the Sea Life Pack 1 and Sea Life Pack 2, wasn't it?
Okay, what I'm going to have to do- while this hides them in the Ready To Install (2nd column, DIM) it doesn't help me with the Explorer file folder, which shows them, and I'll have tens of thousands of folders to wade through. I'm going to drag the ones I am not installing into my folders so I'll have a copy, they WILL then show back up over in the first column (Download) BUT I'll hide them there. Then when I want to use them, they'll be there to download. OR I can just copy/paste from my folders into the DIM Ready To Install folder.
Thanks for telling me about the hide function. :)
Is anyone going to be impacted by our dear TS Fay? Wow, this is going to be one heckuva season in August and September, we're breaking records all over the place. Earliest F storm on record now. I bet we hit the Greek alphabet again.
I re-rendered my Warg animation and posted it here if anyone wants a look. I rendered everything together and now the Lycan runs through the grass and not over it, I also changed it to night time :)
The Bunkbed hotel reminds me of a trip I took once.
Once, my friends from Texas visited me so we fly to Copenhagen amd rented a station wagon and went for what was supposed to be a very long drive. We were supposed to drive all the way to Finmark via the Norway coastline from Copenhagen and then down to Finland and around southern Sweden but a blizzard hit us hard on Bergen, Norway so we cut straight across to Stockholm, Sweden and took a ferry to Helsinki, Finland but after the ferry back to Stockholm we had to return the rental car and flyuu back to Switzerland so after we got back to Copenhagen we rented the coolest hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was silly cheap, like 25 or 30 Euro (this was in October 2004 remember) and actually did have bunkbed hotel rooms except everything in the room was made of the sort of heavy duty plastic (except matresses and such of couse) that you'd expect a child tough toy to be made of. The surfaces were rounded like you'd expect in a nursery so that falls and head bumps would be eased and the surfaces nwas all that purposely grooved roughended plastic toy pattern I remember from childhood that big plastic toys had. There was no shower or commode in the room you had to go to a WC (commode was not any sort of plastic that I remember) and the showers in another room exclusive for showers and they were this same roughened tough child's plastic. It was called Formel Eins or Formula One in English and remembering that it was almo st like they used a 5 year old child's Formula One Racecar bed as the inspiration. As I've only seen the one hotel in Copenhagen I assumed it was Dane but I was told it was actually a French hotel chain. At any rate it was great.
I finally bought both of those after having them wishlisted for 4 years.
@LAdair, that is it! And of course there are the bundles that have items that have been removed from individual sale now in the store, but are still available in the bundle.
@Fishtales, the new Warg animation is totally cool.
Thank you
Oh hey, you can see a comet tonight and for a few weeks! With binoculars you will be able to see the TAIL!!!
LOL. I screenshot every cart that I purchase on my iPad and I just organized those photos into a Daz folder in Photos and scrolling through, I have SOOOOOO many things I had no idea I had! OMG! Every time I purchase something, I IMAGINE what art I'll create with it, imagine a whole scene, then I feel like I already created it, because I did in my mind, and then I forget I ever purchased it or what my original concept was. I think I seriously need therapy!
@wonderland Well, if you went to therapy you wouldn't HAVE any money to buy products :)
@taoz Can you come on the thread and explain your product that I beta tested awhile back? The product catalogue that shows the images? I think I had it on my external that went ka-put and I don't remember how it works (and you may have made changes since I was fiddling with it.) Edit- I found it :) People with under 250 products can try the free version BTW.
I'm so not technical that I'm trying to figure out what requires being connected to the site and what doesn't. Is the work offline mode for DIM so we can do installs that we have sitting in the ready to download column? I remember years ago when the entire site went down for days, and I was fine because I had all my products installed. So the studio and DIM can both work if the site isn't running, correct? (I don't use Smart Content, only Content Library)
Working offline with DIM will allow you to install, uninstall, hide, or delete products from your hard drive. I frequently work offline so I can use DIM to show me paths to where the files are, especially for older products and/or Poser. I use Daz Studio without connecting to the Daz Servers, and I use both Smart Content and Content Library. I do not use DazConnect.
Does that help?
Correct. AFAIK, you only need to log into DIM if you want to download new purchases or check for updated purchases. You only need to log into Daz Studio if you want to install/update products with Daz Connect or receive updated metadata for products. (Products installed by both Daz Connect and DIM receive available metadata updates when you log into Daz Studio. I don't know about Daz Central, because I won't touch that, based on so many trouble reports.).
