Okay. You are correct then, the addon is not installed.

You can't find it in DIM?

    Try this:

    • Open DIM, log on, and load.
    • From the Downloads tab, click on the button labeled Download Filters.
    • Make sure all the Daz Studio options are enabled, (checked).
    • Make sure General, Software, Plugin, Publishing Build, Connect Available and Connect Installed are checked. (The last two aren't related, but should be checked anyway.)
    • Make sure your operating system, Windows 64-bit, is checked.
    • Click on Accept.

    Does the Addon show now?

Many thanks Now i have it Ouf Thanks aagin for your patience

Just bought the add-on, looking forward on making it a part of my process! Meshgrabber is pretty much an essential tool for me at this point, so thank you for developing it and keep the add-ons coming!

folding clothes would be cool... would be cool if there would be a script "clothes fodler" :D so you could fold all shorts, Shirts and maybe dresses automatic, but I assume that would be too complex because every cloth item is different.

I have the Laundry Products but they dont show all clothes I have :)

For folding the jeans, try rotating them 90 degrees, get the folding started with mesh grabber rotator thingie, than use dforce to finish it off. If that makes any sense lol.

The first thing you have to do is get the garment laying flat. Try positioning the jeans horizontally above the "floor", (a large, one division plane primitive will do,) and dForce them. Once they are flat, create a morph for that, (how to here,) so you don't lose it accidentally. Save the file.

Once the garment is flat, use the Geometry Editor tool to select one side of the pants. Back that off the width of a few polys where the two sides connect so you have some that can bend. You may have to experiment with this to get the right width of un-selected polygons. Right-click and scroll down to the assignment menu, (sorry, doing this from memory, but it's the last item,) open the flyout and select Create Selection Set from Selected…. Name your new selection set, so you don't have to do this again, and it will serve as a starting point if you need to increase or decrease the polygons selected. Save the file.

With one side of the garment selected, choose the Mesh Grabber tool. Hold down the Ctrl key and move widget to the top of pants, Position your view of the Viewport so that you are looking "down" the pants from the top of the pants. Select Z to Cam in the Tool Settings. You'll need to experiment as to where the widget needs to go, how large the influence, and how strong the Gain, but from this point, with one side selected, you should be able to "fold" those pants. How well will depend on many variables, including the mesh of the pants you selected to work with.

Good luck. Please be sure and share your results here, good and bad.

    I used it for this:

    https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-city-limits-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s

    1. is it possible to make a morph out of the 2 modded versions, so it can open via a morphslider?

    2. can I share the morph free and if yes HOW? I am really a noob :D but... well I would be happy if I can share it ^_^

    I love this tool.

I posted an image of a dark fairy in my Gallery yesterday, Sentry, using the Hala character with very large fairy ears. Love the ears. When you load hair on the character, look for the ears morph in the hair parameters and dial that down to 0% so the hair doesn't distort, following the line of the ear away from the head.

I rendered a close up of the head and hair to showcase in here. The Stella Hair covers the ears, and doesn't have a morph to accommodate any elf ears. I used Mesh Grabber to move and rotate the hair. I made the hair "bigger", moved the ends up and out, and even corrected some hair intersecting the clothing. (I made a morph of my changes, so I wouldn't inadvertently lose my work somewhere along the way.) The center point of the circlet was also intersecting the hair, so I used Mesh Grabber to rotate the entire front center of the circlet forward slightly.

I also rendered a smaller "before" version, so you can see what the hair looked like before I used Mesh Grabber. That's this image:

Links above open the larger image in a new window. This original is half the size of the next image.

Did I mention I love Mesh Grabber and the Addon?
    wink

  • How to use DIM to install Mesh Grabber Add? How to operate the details?

OMG!!  I spend HOURS trying to find the perfect hair to showcase elf ears and actually have the look and feel I want.  This opens up SO many options!  Thanks for showing this.   And beautiful images, by the way.

Did somebody mention a PDF file somewhere?  Instructions?  There wasn't anything included in the Install files.

Did somebody mention a PDF file somewhere?  Instructions?  There wasn't anything included in the Install files.

The PDF should be part of the Meshgrabber.

Thats where I can find mine, Mesh Grabber Rotation have it as DazScript, Mesg Grabber have the Original PDF (which should also include the addon instructions).

    From ManFriday:

The easiest way to get to the manual is to press F1, then look under "Plugins" in the tree on the left side of the help window, then "Mesh Grabber".

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/5438501/#Comment_5438501

    There is the PDF.

BTW: Is... ManFriday dead or got infected by Corona or... I dont know he is away since so long time :( And 2020 is a horrible year, does anone know his Status, if he is ok?

You can press F1 inside Daz Studio, and you should find Mesh Grabber under the "Plugins" item to the left of the help window (after installation).

There is only one PDF which got updated when the Rotations were released, which includes the information on the Rotations add-on.

When Mesh Grabber is the active tool, you can also find a "?" button at the top right of the "Tool Options" which opens the same PDF.

I'm fine. But seriously, please consider that many people are not, so I don't find this comment very sensitive of you.

How to use DIM to install Mesh Grabber Add? How to operate the details?

With DIM both Mesh Grabber and the Rotations Add-On should install automatically. If the Rotations Add-on is installed, there is still only a single "Mesh Grabber" tool, but the rotation features then work inside that tool. You can see the difference in that the "Rotate" checkbox in the "Tool Options" are enabled when Mesh Grabber is the active tool, and the gizmo will have rotation handles.

Please also have a look at the User Manual PDF, as mentioned a couple of comments up!

Why is it not sensitive to ask if you are OK? :O.... and... death is a thing we all should be aware and its part of our life, look at your avatar, the Lion its his daily thing to KILL to EAT ;)

So... calm down :o I was just nervous if you are gone and we lost a good Member... I am from Germany here is it allowed to talk about death, maybe you are from Japanese or CHina? I did hear there is it not really allowed and they doesnt even like to see Skulls.... So sorry if youre culture doesnt talk about it.

I would really love when we get the little "ball" in the tool, to rotate better, like I have now this pose:

and wanna let the skirt fly a bit up, but the rotations are swingin just to the sides, so I have to do it left, right, left, right, to move it up in a slalom :/

with that Ball, would it work better:

Edit: i found a way to solve it there, because the clothes are in "Redirect Transform" mode, they will stay at the place, so i just rotaed the dress and then was the Meshgrabber orb also corrected :)

    @ManFriday

Reading previous posts, it seems that an installer could not be created for this add-on for some reason (Windows problems, I'd guess). That being the case, could we get a simple zip file for manual installation please?

It doesn't need to be anything fancy to make me happy - just a zip containing 1) the dll and 2) a text file indicating where to place it.

Installer? Well, you can donwload it via DIM, but... it is possible to manual install it.

The manual install is nothing special, the DIM will just download a zip container which contains I think a PDF and thhe plugin.dll the plugin.dll will go directly to your Pluginfolder in your DazStudio folder.

I did download the zip via dim, then did go to the folder where my downloaded stuff goes and just installed it by hand, you 2 can do it too.

@swordkensia just do it this one time, to get the zip file.

You dont have to let DIM install it, just grab the Zip out of that folder.

I think in the "ready to download" folder, can you see a checkboy (install after download) make sure its not active. I can not open that window now without updating...

Edit: did update now I can see it:

Make sure its NOT checked! (and hell so much files to download xD... I grabbed too much O_O.... but alla re manual installed).

    There you go ;)

Thank you for the pointers. But the issue for me is that I download 3D content (and games from GOG) on a fast connection away from home, scan them for malware, and copy them to USB stick for manual installation (and then back up the files to an external hard drive).

I assume that DIM requires a working Daz installation, so I couldn't install just DIM (without Studio) on the machine that I use to download content (and uninstall DIM afterwards)?

And btw... I totally understand about having a large backlog of files to download! I was making steady progress downloading my product library, but now I have quite a bit more to go after some of the recent sales. ;)

DIM does not require a working Daz installation, if by that you mean Daz Studio. I have DIM installed on my laptop, download all my product files there (but don't install them) then copy them via external drive to my off-line PC where DS is actually installed. I then copy back the manifest files from the offline-PC to the laptop, to keep the "Available to Download" and "Ready to Install" lists neat, and so that DIM knows what is already installed for the purpose of getting notified of updates.

Thanks - it sounds like a temporary installation of DIM should work for me to get the file. Bit of a pain, and a zip really should be provided for convenience (and for those with situations where this wouldn't be an option), but at least I'll be able to use the add-on in the meantime.

    Much appreciated, Loony and MelanieL.

well, I manual install all and have ~1TB Backup then, but I deleted a lot backups... but I think I start agaion collecting them, so I can remember what i installed and where the heck the file did go... like some vehicles are inside poses folder, some in environments, some in props folder, some in vehicle folder, its a crazy mix! Oh and STZ Genesis 3 biokes are in Poser file... whyever -.-

I hope you are able to run DIM and can download the needed dll ;)

  • I'm sorry, I can't make my own ZIP installers. I give my code to Daz, and they make installers, so I'm afraid DIM is the only option for the rotations. If you do use DIM to download the ZIP though, you can extract the DLL from there like Loony described, and put the DLL into the plugins folder yourself.

Same here. There is no way for me to install anything from the internet directly on my art computer, as it is air gapped and will never go online. It doesn't even have the drivers needed to connect to the internet. So how can I download this to do a manual install? At least make the files available for download!

I think I explained how to do it already here or in the meshgrabber thread...

you NEED to use DIM, atleast do it at home and put the zip on a usb stick.

but read through the last 2 pages or check the meshgrabber thread. I gave a tutorial how to get the files.
