Thanks !!
Bunyip- -Thanks for the very clear explanations. Morpheus the adventurer!
great info being posted
Got a chance today for another render
Used Catoon retextured with Carrara hair and morphed into a Racoon type of creature, also modeled the suit and the mozzie and Caroot
I am not an Aphid!
Love it !!!
Scrappy & Elorn WIP-1 - Not an Entry
WIP - Scene, used the SciFi Corridor A which had a load of instances in it
Used a Plugin called DAZ Studio to fix the instances - Instances to Objects - https://www.daz3d.com/instances-to-objects
Test Render
Used Topaz Adjust
Used PhotoDonut to get a Graphic Art look to the render
Scrappy & Elorn WIP-2 - Not an Entry
Opened the PhotoDonut image as an extra layer with the render in PSP, adjusted the Opacity of the PhotoDonut image until I got enough detail showing
Did the Speech Bubble in PSP and added an Alien Font Text, you will need a good imagination to work out what is being said !
Test render - is a little dark
Used a one-step fix in PSP
Final image
Stezza - Catoon the exterminator. Hilarious.
Bunyip - I've never tried instances to objects. Thanks for the tip.
Bunyip, I apologize for not chipping in sooner. I will get a WIP (or two) done eventually, but there is a major project that will take most of my forum time in the coming months.
Maybe that is a good thing. I get tired reading posts that tell me that I should be using Blender instead of Carrara.
Another cartoon Challenge, eh? In the previous one, it was a bit of a slog to get participants. Hopefully you will have better luck.
Then again, I would be happy doing toons for every Challenge.
Thanks for the interesting tip regarding Instances to Objects. I didn't even know that such a product existed.
Instances To Objects - the more instances there are the more objects there will be and the greater the file size will be !
I had to stop my major project for this challenge so I know how you feel !
Would like to see Carrara posts in the Carrara Forum....
After all the doom and gloom of the last 4 months I definately needed something a bit more enjoyable, hopefully everyone else feels the same way. The net is fairly wide from comics to cartoons, cover pages to Graphic novels, should be plenty of oppurtunities for everyone !
Would also be happy doing toons, plenty of scope there.
Instances to Objects is a very handy tool, just note that for very large Howie type scenes there is also a corresponding increase in size of the file that has been converted !
Wow!
Hello Dart, have you got time to get away from that major project of yours and do a render or two ?
How to train an Elephant for a Circus - EEEEK Mouse ! WIP-1

for some reason it reminds me of Serat !
sorry to be so slow, doing tax and crap
"Boy finds spaceship in back yard." - as you do
Took Luna lander and retxtured it with another spaceships texture no longer available here, used Shader Map 4 to extract a normal map of the new spaceship texture, combined old texture and new texture in shader room using Fenric's layer tool - you can select multiply overlay screen dissolve etc
post work with affinity pro tone map, fotodonut, topaz simplify, for the sky I ran a photograph through Topaz Impression to make it look hand done
used obj pass to isolate elements in the render
then used an old landscape painters' trick where you make a horizontal foreground compositional elements quite dark to give a sense of atmospheric depth
prepostwork attached :) I used Carrara inbuilt Toon Pro thing as well and rendered out a shadow pass so I could add them back into the render if necessary
will upload a b and w one as well
here's two more variations
Colour one tone mapped into b and w
Second one is a colour layer placed over the b and w one. Which is my preference as the first colour one is too pastellly
Pencil like texture is from fotodonut
another panel in the spread - think I'll go with this style
pre post
Interesting - Georges Seurat - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Seurat
Better to be sure with your tax !
Nice find in the backyard, would make a great Cubbyhouse !!
With Fenric's layer tool I assume you are referring to the Layer Blending tool, have included a couple of screenshots for those who are unfamiliar with it.
1. Click on your Color Channel
2. Click on Fenric
3. Click on Layer Blending
4. Click on Layer Blending Mode - choose one.
Like this colour one !
Anticipation is building up....!
