    RANDOM UPDATE:

    Hello everyone!

I haven´t posted in a while so I figured I might make this my little journal where I post updates about 3D stuff even if nobody else reads it : )

So what I´ve been up to lately:

    - If I have a free moment, I find myself doing 3D stuff + recently I have been playing a bit of Sims 4 as well. I was very hesitant whether to actually get this or not but me being a fan of the series and finding a big discount on the internet I gave it a try.

    - Currently I am working on 2 projects (by projects I mean modeling, texturing stuff and so on) + following a bunch of tutorials regarding complex character rigging and let me tell you, this part is not fun at all. Can´t wait to get to animation.

    - MD4 beta is unfortunately over and I really regret I did not spend more time with that program. But, there is still the trial I can get.

Oh, and renderosity is having a halloween contest! YAY! I will definitely take part and have already started working on the scene but I am afraid I won´t be able to achieve the look I want as I am still quite new and always learning. Creating the scene I have in mind will be a big challenge as it involves doing a lot of stuff I havent tried yet so I´m quite excited for that!

I´d love to show you the WIP renders and share with you the idea I have but unfortunately it is anonymous and the artwork must not be publish anywhere else before and during the contest so I cant : (

Anyways, thats about it for now and if you are going to participate in the Halloween contest as well I wish you the best of luck!!!!

    BIG NEWS!

Hey there everyone, today I have one personal achievement to share. I have 1 product now on renerosity! It is the everyday style outfit with the jeans, top and handbag.

At first I did not feel confident at all trying to upload a product. I didnt know how the whole procedure works and the vendor control room was rather confusing but I was thinking, well I have nothing to loose and if it doesnt get to the market thats fine, at least I get more feedback from professionals.

So this being my first time uploading, of course I messed up with the files that needed to be included and I was also given advice how to improve the product and was asked to add some things to it which I did.

The testing and the improvements were taking quite a long time so I was quite sure it won´t be approved in the end, but still I was glad I got the feedback and constructive criticism.

But, today I logged in and saw that the product was approved which is quite an achievement for me. Although I´m also scared. I wanted to make some changes to the promos before it gets released but I guess its too late now : D

I really didn´t expect anything and I still don´t expect much. If nobody buys it, it´s fine. If one person buys it and likes it, that will make my day : ) Or month actually : D
Maybe nobody will like it or maybe its going to be a disaster and will be erased in the end, I´ll just have to wait and see. I still have no expectations whatsoever.

However I am glad I went through the whole uploading and testing thing, very nice experience to have!

I am already working on another outfit which I might upload for review as well but right now, I´m gonna pause the clothing making thing because I want to finish the picture for the halloween contest (I wish I could show you guys the WIPs) and I am trying to model a flower for the first time (like real plant, not clothing decoration) and I am still doing the rigging thing and so on.

So thats about it for now! Have a wonderful day everyone!

I saw it and dithered - loved the way the hang of the top did not cling and actually seemed to obey gravity. Just gone back and added it to cart.

    Congratulations on your first product!

Hey there and thank you! I wish I could make dynamic clothing so the top would be more versatile and would obey gravity in every pose possible but well such are the limitations of conforming clothing, gotta work with what I have. I hope to improve with every other item I make.

I tried to make the folds somehow realistic as the fabric hangs over the breast area.

Also, I sent you a PM at renderosity so if you are having any issue with the items, please feel free to contact me there. Although the testing team did not mention anything the last time they tested the product, one just never knows.

It's Casual Monday, right? Congratulations! I'm with Simon, the top came out really cute. The jeans are not bad; and the purse and shoes are worth buying it just for those. A good purse and shoes is hard to find in our market, and your textures are really great for a first outfit, with the detail on the jeans and so on.

With conforming items, all we can do is add movement morphs. It's nice that you at least put in some adjusters in this one, when a lot of people don't bother. It's definitely looking better than my first V4 project at Rendo way back when! If you google Wrath of Athene V4 you will see it in all of its horribly rendered, horribly shadered glory, because the product page is still cached. :D

If I could add some constructive criticism on your pictures, your promo lighting looks a little too bright and washed out (also a mistake I made on my first set, you might notice). I don't know what your exact lighting set was, but I think the distant or spotlight on the girls could be turned down a bit so the fill light (the Uber or Advanced Ambient one) is allowed to add a little more solidity. They've got some glare on their skins right now.

I hope you have many sales, that you build a loyal base of customers, and that you soon join us here at DAZ!

Hey there Sickle and thanks a lot!!!! You guys have just made my day : ) Currently there seems to be a minor issue with one of the handbag options which is not being parented properly upon load and both me and the tester somehow did not notice that.
We were focusing so much on one issue in the late phases of the testing and I cant really blame them for not noticing this.

Although it can be fixed with just a few clicks and I have already prepared a mini-guide how to do it for any customer who might buy it which I will send to them via renderosity mail, I still need to contact my tester and see if I can update the file.

Right now I am like refreshing my vendor page kind of hoping nobody will buy it until I fix this : D Because every time I mess something up I tend to automatically think of the worst scenarios that can occur, so right now my head is filled with mails from angry people saying how come one of the handbags doesnt automatically parent to the hand and they want to give it back : D

As for the morphs I tried to include at least some, I wish I could include more FBMs to support more body shapes, currently I only have Victoria, Olympia and evolution morphs. But scrolling through the marketplace, I once saw items for genesis that didnt have any FBMs at all although I think I read somewhere that at least 3 FBMs must be included. So I dont know about that.

As for the promos, that was actually the first thing the tester said I should change, the original promos were much brighter so the texture on the jeans was almost invisible : D

I hope I´ll get better at this as time goes by. Also, I really want the reality plugin as reality renders always look great. but I am going to wait for the new version which should come out maybe even this year.

I have already started working on another outfit. At first I thought I might do casual tuesday and make this a series of everyday outfits but then I decided to go for something different and now I cant really go back since the footwear is almost finished : D So even if the outfit changes, it still needs to go well with the boots.

But, right now I need to focus on finishing the Halloween render, theres still like 3 weeks left but I feel like its getting more difficult by the day. I am using like 5 softwares to put the whole scene together and the last few days I spent just setting up 3 light sources in the scene : D I´m really curious myself how its going to look once its finished.

Congratulations! Your Casual Monday outfit looks great over on Rendo. It's fantastic that all your hard work is paying off and I just want to join the others here in wishing you success with this and future releases. (Couldn't happen to a more deserving person.)

Two quick renders (both with same basic setup/lighting - Xiao Mei for the G2F figure, UrbanRecreation for lighting (sans shadow plane), plus UberArea on lights in scenery, AntFarm's School's Out for scenery.

Hey there Jindi and Simon and thanks a lot!

Simon I have contacted my tester and we´re working on fixing the handbag issue. When it´s done I will let you know via rendero mail! And thanks for posting the renders! Seeing them really makes me wish I had Aiko so I could create fits for her as well.

I´ve been looking at Genesis females thinking which one to add to my library and I have 3 favorites: Aiko, Giselle (although I usually don´t like fairies, I think she looks amazing) and the new Lilith.

    RANDOM UPDATE:

Here´s my random 3D diary update!

    - Missed the 30% off deal on Daz figures, kinda sad about it as I really wanted to buy one and was waiting for a good deal but maybe there will still be some good deals in the upcoming months. Maybe for Christmas I hope.

    - Still having a hard time trying to follow a rather complex rigging tutorial for character body rig from scratch, cannot wait to get to animating. I could have just downloaded the finished thing but I thought I might as well go through it to see what it takes to create a good rig and it really is quite hard.

    - Still working on my render for Renderosity´s Halloween contest, only 15 days left now. I´m afraid I won´t make it so if I don´t, I probably won´t take part because I don´t want to be uploading a render I am not completely happy with.

    - Pausing the plant creation tutorial for a while. I really enjoy plant modeling but it´s not a priority right now so I think I´ll pause that for a while.

    Product diary:

Started working on a completely new outfit like a week ago, I decided to pause the one I had in works and start from scratch and create something different. I wanted to try a more fall look for the colder days so my plan is that the outfit should contain:

    - leather jacket
    - turtleneck sweater with short sleeves
    - probably denim mini skirt ( as I really need a break from jeans)
    - a pair of shoes
    - a handbag

At least one of the following: gloves/scarf/hat

And maybe some of the simple accessories as well like: earrings/bracelets/necklace

The leather jacket and sweater are already modeled.
The leather jacket will have at least 2 style options (default and sleeves rolled up).
The default one has long sleeves and the rolled up version has them rolled up almost to the elbows.
They will probably be two separate jackets and not a style morph because of the rigging that causes deformation on the morph.
I will try to do a zipped/unzipped versions as well but not really sure if I can do it. The default version is unzipped.

I hope to have it finished before December starts but currently, I am getting rather busy and it is getting more difficult to find free time for my 3D stuff but I will do my best.
The outfit will be for G2F just like my previous one but this time, I´d like to support at least one more figure morph (probably Aiko 6) so even if I do finish it before the end of November, I will probably wait till I get the new figure and then I will upload it for review.

Also, I was thinking about supporting other figures like V4 or Dawn but not quite sure whether it´s worth the effort since I don´t have Poser and I feel like most people do not use these figures inside Daz Studio anyways because we have G2F.

And of course in general, I will try my best to make this outfit better than the last one.

I´ll post WIP renders of the outfit as soon as it starts looking decent!

Also I have created a deviantart page where I will be posting my pictures and diary stuff as well as here. If anybody wants to add me please feel free - http://toyen-art.deviantart.com/

Toyen was already taken : (

I´ll also add you. I´d love to see your stuff if you have a profile there! I have followed sickle so far but if anybody else has a profile, feel free to share the link!

    Hi.

I can import the obj file to DAZ, but the UV map is missing, even with the Include UVs box checked in Blender.

    Thanks

Hey there Bach, I´m kinda confused. What do you mean? Are you having troubles importing objects with UV maps into Daz studio?

  • edited December 1969

I made a headgear in Blender, exported as obj, then imported to DAZ, and everything was ok, but the UV, that was missing, even the box "Export UVs" in Blender is checked.

    Thanks

Make sure you made UV map in Blender. You can do this by going to edit mode, selecting the entire object and in the next window where the Uvs are displayed you will see whether you have one or not.

Thats the only thing that comes to mind really. I´ve never had this problem. All my UVs are working properly inside Daz, so far.

Hello everyone! Quick preview of the basic mesh of some pieces of the outfit I´m currently working on.

Here you can see the leather jacket (rolled up sleeves version), sweater (under the jacket), driver style gloves and a quick hat (might not be included in the outfit though).

And my 3D diary entry is here if anybody wants to read - http://toyen-art.deviantart.com/journal/3D-Diary-Oct-3-2014-486140167

Can you tell me the steps you do?

What I did since the UV was neat:

Exportet Wavefront obj with the boxes checked: Selection Only
    Apply modifiers
    Include Edges
    Include UVs
    Write Materials
    Objects as OBJ objects

As I said, the mesh is imported to DAZ nicely, but the UV is missing.

I vaguely remember something about Blender not including the images in the obj file in a way Daz Studio can understand them. The solution at the time was to take the UV image files and put them into the surface tab in the proper map boxes, and saving a DUF there in Daz Studio.

As for the exact what to click bit, I have yet to do that myself. So I don't know if Blender can export a set on UV map images or not, let alone how.

    Hey there Zarcon and Bach!

Here are my export settings I have checked when I´m exporting .objs

    - Selection Only
    - Apply Modifiers
    - Include Edges
    - Write Normals
    - Include Uvs
    - Write Materials
    - Polygroups
    - Material Groups
    - Keep vertex order

How do you know the UVs are missing?

Does the Uv set not say Default UVs?

If so as I´ve said, can´t really help you there. Never experienced this problem. You should try asking on Blender forums. Maybe someone will know how to fix the Uvs.

  • edited December 1969

The UV is ok right now, but when I render, everything in the scene is ok, but the UV I made is black. And evey time I save the scene, Daz shut down.

  • ToyenToyen Posts: 1,888
    edited December 1969

Uvs dont have colors I think. You mean, the diffuse texture you made for the item is black? as for the shut down can´t help you there. Maybe the scene is too complex and your computer can´t handle it? Do you have any textures on the mesh or not?

  • edited December 1969

The UV is showed in preview, but the prop is completely black when it's rendered. And about the shutting down, the prop isn't so complex, but I had an issue, so my Daz is running properly just in the 32 bit version.

  • ToyenToyen Posts: 1,888

Check the diffuse color. Maybe you set it to black. What color is it supposed to be anyways?

  • edited December 1969

Difuse color in Blender or Daz?

  • edited December 1969

If it's in Blender, that was done already.

  • ToyenToyen Posts: 1,888
    edited December 1969

    Diffuse color in Daz.

  • edited December 1969

I see, the first option. That was already white too. Let me tell you, the prop is just flat black, no shades, light or reflection.

Can you post a screenshot with the prop and the material settings?

  • edited December 1969

First of all, I'm not a 3D designer, just using 3D as a base for complex drawings, so, it's a weird headgear, poorly modeled and UV mapped.
