I removed the camera movement by keyframes and added a path. This is more like what I want. Now to work on getting the missing textures and objects transfered over properly. There are several other space ship models I want to use in this scene, if my computer can handle it. Thanks everyone for the feedback.
No Dforce in Blender, it's Studio specific.
It does have a variety of physics based simulations, including cloth. Works well, but it does take time to get used to.
I prefer most aspects of Blender to Studio; cloth simming with dForce can actually be simpler, but there is so much more versatility I find for different issues that I prefer it. I rarely render in Studio. Importing with Diffeo is very quick, just need to get used to the workflow - and define what your own will be.
Agreed, cloth sim in Blender is finicky and takes a lot of playing around to get what you want. That said, once you do, it works pretty well.... for me, I have to scale up all objects/people by 10 in order for the sim to work properly.
My space animation is slowly taking shape. Even with 50% reduced textures, I've blown out my 4 GB graphics card and can only render CPU. May try some network rendering soon.
Once again I'm amazed. We can all nit-pick and you probably do that yourself when you look at the results but I have tried and failed to get close to your realism. Ok, so you have skills that I don't when it comes to creating realistic-looking skins with all the blemishes that add to the realism but there are other things that add to the overall effect. One is the way the dress is pushed up on the thighs - I have been trying to figure out how to do that for the past couple of days - I asked a question in this forum about the Blender cloth brush in case that might be the answer. Obviously more than just gravity is involved and, well, is the dress something you have made in Blender or imported from DAZ Studio?
you could do the cloth sim in different ways. If the pose was a direct import from studio, then I'd likely import the dress as an object after simming it.
I also might use MD, or Blender - and I do frequently use a combination including minor adjustments just by tweaking vertices.
This is an older 3dsmax scene I converted to Blender and rendered with Cycles on the gpu in 2.91
Nice!
Seem to remember seeing this ages ago - or something similar at least.
Yeah, that's possible. The models were done years ago in 3dsmax, but all the shaders, lighting, and of course the final render here was done in Blender with Cycles GPU just the other day. Considering the displacement and SSS involved, it rendered pretty fast too. Only about 5 minutes for 1920x1080 resolution.
Nice!
ok so i downloaded Blender yesterday and this is the first renderer that i did.
i just wondering where is the Market for Blender?
where to get clothes/ interiors and such?
or is it easy to just import daz 3d assets to blender?
i also wondering if there are any good tutorials on how to pose characters?
thanks
(Noob) :)
Render below was done with Cycles GPU renderer at 10K samples
Rendering time around 25min with RTX3090
There's lots of free .blend files at blendswap. But any good 3d market these days will have a Blender "section". For example, I noticed Turbosquid has one now and the other big market Cgtrader has one listed. But then you have small markets that are dedicated to it as well. Blendswap is a good place for free stuff though. Not everything is quality there but you can find some hidden gems.
Gumroad also has both free and paid stuff, both plugins and assets.
For tuts, try Youtube first.
thanks
cgtrader has the interiors im looking for
no problem paying 50$ or more if the quality is good.
its the quality that makes the renderers
i think i start with this one :)
https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/interior/living-room/interior-scene-8c73dabd-41bd-4915-8f9a-bc07e2c7ab2b
coming from Daz 3D this quality is much higher than what you get with daz 3d assets
almost photo real
it will be an pleasure to work with
Be careful. Looks like those renders might be of the 3dsmax product. I see it offers a .blend, but the primary native file is 3dsmax, so that could be a vray render you're looking at. Typically, I'd look for .blend as the main native file format. Try Blender Market.

Nevermind. Disregard my previous posts. I somehow got sent to a different page than you linked to. That one IS definitely a blender render. It's 2.7, so I don't know how compatible it will be, but it looks great.
Lighting makes the render in Blender as much as in Studio - light it badly and it won't look nearly as pretty.
why the hell did that take 25 on a 3090?
Could you run the Mike Pan BMW test and the Classroom rest and let us know how long it takes? That shouldn't take so long. Although, it doesn't need anywhere near 10k samples
CGTrader is my current favorite, BlenderMarket second. When I search on CGTrader I change the 'format' to .blend to find only blender files unless it is a small object, then I will import .obj or .fbx. I agree on the quality, I've been very pleased so far. I would think twice about importing DAZ interiors/scenes into blender right now. They may be blender compatible, but the materials were made for DAZ and will take quite a bit of adjustment in blender to look good. DAZ characters and clothing with blender backgrounds is a winning combination.
Here is a brief explanation on importing characters using diffeomorphic, posing, and importing JCM's. Posing individual bones is really just a matter of selecting the bone and 'r' to rotate, while changing the camera position (1, 3, 7 on the numpad help).

Look forward to seeing what you come up with!
Yeah, CGTrader is definitely one of my top destinations when it comes to 3d content. The quality is usually very good and the prices aren't bad. I don't do much in DS these days, so I don't really shop here anymore (I'm sure the moderators here will love to hear that). I find myself getting some really great content from CGTrader and Blender Market now. Turbosquid is still overpriced I think, but they have started offering more Blender content and have a unique category for it now so maybe I'll go there once in a while too. Someone mentioned Gumroad. I just can't seem to find things easily there. Unless you know a direct link to an artist store, it's a confusing place to shop for goods.
Artstation is really good now too if you use Zbrush or Blender. Most of the stuff is Zbrush related, but I've found some great Blender content on Artstation and it's usually VERY high-quality stuff. Most of the people there are really good artists.
I don't think you needed 10k samples for that render. Something is wrong if so. You should try using the Denoiser node in the compositor. With Intel Denoiser node, you'd probably only need maybe 250-500 samples tops. That would cut the render time down to a mere 2 minutes, if that.
Quite honestly, you should be able to get those same results on a RTX 3090 in around a minute. Make sure you are NOT using the CUDA option in render settings. You should be using Optix. Also, don't use the Optix denoiser for the final render. Use the Denoiser node in the compositor. Use the data channels output in the compositor and attach the albedo, normal, and noisy outputs to those channels in the Denoiser node, then output that result to the final render.
Yeah, have you seen the vmat shader/material system by Hikmet?
Yes, bought it, love it. Glass renders great. I was not sure how much I'd use it but I've found that it saves me a lot of time. When I am setting up a scene and need a basic material (fabric, glass, liquids, metals, etc.), I can just click and apply. Huge time saver. Plus there is so much that I haven't used yet (hair shader, sss, grunge, fire). It was worth the money for me and the type of renders I make.
looks better in Daz 3d with iray
i dont get it why even bother with this loosy program called Blender?
you get cartoonish looking characters.
leave Blender for the nut jobs that likes to render interiors all day long ;)
By the way Krampus, have you seen the vmat shader / mats from Hikmet over at cgTrader? I like that one pretty much!
Have you even bothered to look at some of the other renders? Honestly, that render looks like any given render I've seen in DS with iray too. It all depends on the materials and lighting no matter what the software or render engine is. "Cartoony" is a problem with the artist, not the software. If you don't know how to adjust the lighting and materials, you'll get cartoony looking renders in any software. Unless that's what you're trying to do in the first place.
Yup, I like it too and use it often...
