Ha!!! Just watched the bathroom scene on YouTube... The bathroom is not in the Bates house! It's in the Motel Building! :-)

@WendyLuvsCatz - I think I am done with modeling the House. The bathroom is done. Chandeliers and sconces are done, as well as rugs and paintings. I think I got all the important things. I also added some nicer curtains,  a beautiful freebie from "ArtTailor" I found on Renderosity. Now I have A LOT of work in cleaning up the whole model. There are so many files going with it. I hope I can release the complete version for Christmas. :-)

I changed the Wallpaper Shader, I don't know which one I like better. And, since I wasn't really satisfied about the look of the curtains, I just created my own. Little adjustments before cleaning up... :-)

:-) Before starting to clean up... Would it make sense to have the possibility of changing the Wallpaper individually in every room, or doesn't it matters? Right now there is just one wallpaper in the whole house. Changing in one room changes the paper everywhere. What do you guys think?

Possibly the stairs/hall could be different from the rest. You can see each room one at a time plus the stairs/hall through an open doorway. Otherwise you can't really render two rooms at a time can you? It's a fair bit of work to do to change every room into an independent material.

Just mulling it over, a render from the stairs/hall could possibly see two adjacent rooms, but not likely to be more. Half of me is egging you on to do every room separately, but I'm not sure it would ever be needed, and you've already done so much.

    Regards,

    Richard

Thanks Richard. That was my thought too. But I think, since I am still working on it, I will go for the "different room, different wallpaper" version. It would be sad if it would be needed later and it wouldn't be availeable. :-)

I just changed my mind. @richardandtracy is right! It will have just the option to change the hallway Wallpaper. Easier for me... and for whoever will have to work with it later. :-)

Walls can be hidden for camera settings.

Almost done with cleaning up the model. Probably it will be available in a few days. Huge File... 250 MB's (compressed)... for now... :-)

Does anyone of you guys know of a good tool for a complete UV remapping of a model created in Sketchup? I cannot find anything userfriendly and for a good price that allowes me to unwrap and reassign a clean UV-map. Sketchup is pretty (extremely) messy with that.

    Did you tried blender?

I have Blender but I really don't understand how it works. I am so used to Sketchup... I tryed it out a few times but it drives me crazy.

Yes. It needs to do a few days YouTube viewing to get the ground. But it's worth. I for myself use it to remap texture zones and UV mapping (smart) of 3rd party 3d models.

I understand. Maybe one day I will start to learn Blender. I found an interesting Software (Automatic unwrapper from Quelsolaar) but there is no pricing and probably way to expensive for me. I will ask... I got the Demo version and I like it. :-)

I understand that this is one of the best UV mappers out there. It's a bit pricy, but the hobbyist level doesn't time out on you. It's worth checkingn their videos at least.

One thing is really bothering me. The Chandeliers and Wall Lamps, the Glass of them is frosted. This doesn't really lets the light get through. This means, even if practically there are enough light sources in the room, everything underneath is dark an the ceiling is bright. If I increase the values, of course everything gets lighter, but the ceiling gets burned out and way to bright. If I turn the Glass off, everything is lit even. Any suggestions on the glass settings?
