I found Kozaburo's Maya Twintails Hair in the list and downloaded it. I had somehow lost it in the mists of time (obviously my administration is not as good as yours :) )

As the original model is somewhat lacking in morphs, I made a quick set of morphs for the tails so they can be independently moved; out, back, forwards, shorter, G3f fit. (this despite the vaugaries of GoZ... This is a really useful plugin that sadly suffers from random failures. I wish DAZ would update it properly.) The morphed tails are not perfectly symetrical but that adds to the realism (good excuse,eh?)

I would be happy to share these simple morphs, but I don't want to tread on Kozaburo's toes, and anyway I don't have my own site to host them at the moment.

 

The Maya Twintails weren't done by Kozaburo but by Studio Maya, who are still active and have their own store. The Twintails, that were a freebie once, aren't available any more, but you might contact them for permisson to distribute the morphs.

Does anybody know of any free long hair styles for the genesis 3 female? I am currently using the charm hair, but that was designed for the genesis 2 female and can look weird if you pose the character in certain positions.

If you auto-fit hair, it may pick up the head, neck and torso bones, then pose weird.  Better to just parent the hair, scale and position it, and not autofit, so it keeps morphs and does not deform with the pose.

Regarding the hair caps for Genesis 3, that is a pretty interesting asset, but I'd like to ask, how does hair get generated in DAZ Studio while wearing that hair cap?  I know DAZ Studio doesn't have a hair room like Poser does, but I'm just curious.

If the product is what I hope it is, that may mean no more money to be spent on hairstyles.

I have to admit, either way, there's not many items left for me to purchase on DAZ Shop, on Rendo, nor anywhere.  Maybe a few poses or animations, and several props for a carnival scene, but other than that, virtually nothing left to purchase.  I spent a nice bit of money on assets during the past year, and I am glad that, come October, I will be on the road to financial recovery.

The hair caps are to create hair and they are the base, the scalp, though can also be used to pull hair from but that would require sub dividing a lot. You can also create hair and attach it to the cap so you have a proper fit and make the cap invisible. Also you can not generate hair in Daz, it does not have that function, only Poser and similar programs.

Actually, I do remember purchasing the Garibaldi Express add-on early last year, but for some reason I didn't take the time to find the serial number.  Good thing I found the serial number this morning, so I may be able to make good use of the Garibaldi Express add-on in the near future.

Thank goodness I purchased it when I did.

Morph to fit Soto Flat Top(The old free version-I think.I doubt it'll work for the paid version.) to monster_base male morph. To use:Load monster_base. Set male FMB to 100% Load Flat Top set "fits/monster/male" to 100% Do not try to "fit to" monster base. Instead parent the whole figure to monster base "head" like an old hair prop. After you apply materials to Flat Top set surface "Scalp" opacity to 0%. Its not perfect but it fits my needs.(Sorry to use a product long unavailable but it fit easy and its still  cool hair. And I'm sure many still have the hair laying aroud. I had to search  through hundreds of old zips to find it.)

I am curious. When I read the information on the page it mentions needing Daz 4.10 and in brackets (needed for dforce) is dforce necessary to use this hair, as the description says nothing about it?

looks good without being dForced. Haven't tried to dForce it though, so if it works, it might even look better.

Edit: just tried dForcing this hair... there's some good and some bad news

Good news: it works well with dForce, though due to being it short hair, there's not always much to be seen as an effect...

Bad news: after the hair being dForced, it makes all figures invisible when rendered with Iray... empty screen is rendered.. Delight seems to work. I'll send the artist a message about that

Thanks for checking it out. I can't use dforce (computer can't handle it) so that's not a problem for me.

Ok, for those people who would want to use that hair with dForce, here's a workaround:

1. load hair and run the simulation
2. save simulated hair as a prop
3. delete simulated hair from the scene
4. load the new prop
5. winrar! Now it renders fine under Iray

Out of the box unsimulated version

Simulated version with basic settings, as present when loaded

As you can see, the difference between simulated and not are small (most easily seen by the hair's shadow), though you can make them stand out more by

1. go to the surfaces tab for the hair
2. set "Dynamics Strength" to 1.0 for Hair_SG and Stray_SG surfaces (or to any value between the given 0.86 and 1.0)
