I'm posting this here, because I know you have a large following who appreciate hearing about other users' experiences with products. I am returning Bogolan Dress for Genesis 9. It looks cute in the promo images and has nice material patterns, but the construction of the garment is very disappointing. Parts of the dress aren't welded to each other, and they separate when the product's default smoothing is applied. The straps are way above the shoulders and there is no adjustment morph to fix it. The top stitching detail is made up of tiny dense mesh (probably straight out of Marvelous Designer). There is a hidden "structure" surface that contributes nothing but extra useless mesh as far as I can see. It isn't connected to any of the rest of the dress, so I don't see how it supplies any "structure". The whole thing is is made of triangles, not quads. I won't buy from this PA again, based on this experience.

    Thanks for the info.

I had it in my wishlist glad I hadn't purchased it yet

I will add a "Me To" as well. Both outfits by the PA were just put on my wishlist, but now off. Feedback is critical and why I love Novica's thread. Thank you @barbult for the details. I hope the PA reads this and improves their work. They do offer a style of clothing not otherwise offered in the store.

You can see the straps aren't on the shoulders in the main picture on the shop page.

You are right. You can say the same about no strap adjustment morph being included. I didn't examine it critically enough. Fortunately Daz return policy is good, and I have already received my refund, and I no longer have this in my library.

It wasn't just the high strap and lack of adjustment that made me finally give up on this dress. I can make my own morph. However, when I imported it to Blender to make a morph, I really discovered all the other issues in the product (unwelded garment pieces, dense triangles instead of quads, not designed to support DS smoothing or subD, floating modeled topstitching).

Don't think I hate everything. I have posted a lot of renders in the Sue Yee Appreciation Post thread. There's a PA who knows how to make normal-person clothing that look real and perform well. yesyes

Appreciate you letting everyone know! We should expect more QA before these things are allowed to be sold, but sadly experience shows us that sometimes QA doesn't seem to have been done at all.

I am doing well, folks. I did something which was a great decision- to honor Mom AND Dad, I decided to get a Golden Retriever puppy as that was the dog breed Mom and Dad chose for our family while I was growing up. Weekends, we all hopped in the car to go to Grandma and Grandpa's 88 acre farm, and I treasure the memories of the babbling streams and wooded forests on the property. The farm address was Spencer, Indiana, so I named my puppy Spencer. He arrived last night and as expected everytime I say Spencer it makes me feel very young again and like Mom and Dad live on. I know you get what I mean. And who couldn't be constantly smiling with a new family member with this face?

Ci Pwff the Samoyed and Seychelle the Weimaraner have both gone outside with him (one at a time, as they are SO much bigger in weight) and after a few times, all 3 have gone out together. It's a hoot!  Anyway, here's Spencer at 3 months old.

It's on older product but I've only bought it a few days ago. Disappointed to see how sloppy the texture is, seams are clearly visible. My attached renders show the base G8M with the Dark Guard texture out of the box, no morphs. Now that I know to look for it it's even visible in the official promo renders. Very bummed out, especially from a PA as well regarded as Luthbel. sad

Spencer is adorable Novica. He looks like a sturdy bundle of love. I miss loving on a dog. Cats purr at you, and if I am lucky, I may get my wrist/arm pulled over to be hugged when one of them goes to sleep. (I grew up to be a 'teddy bear' for a pair of cats!.)

For what it's worth, I think the seam issue on Dark Guard is in his normal maps. I used just his normals on a different character to make him look older, and wound up with seam issues there. I couldn't figure out how to fix them, so I wound up dealing with it in post.

I think if you use his body hair, that hides the seams, which is why I didn't notice it when I worked with him as a whole.

Pretty sure I switched off normals and I still had the issue. I think it's in all his maps. But I've now returned the character so I can't double-check.

It's been a while since I've added much to my dForce and Big City threads. In the past few months I've learned to use TinkerCad, a free online model builder, and have found it to be pretty good and relatively simple to use with Daz Studio. For those wanting a different way to make their own models, I have a thread showing example renders of what's possible and illustrated instructions.

I just bought Orestes Iray HDRI Skydomes Vol 3 - Vega System and I'm disappointed to see noisy diagonal stripes which look baked-in:

I don't see these issues in the official promos which is odd, but many gallery entries have them as well. I'll probably just return the product, such a bummer.

For comparison, here's renders of Orestes Iray HDRI Skydomes - Erupiter which has no such issues:

Always test your purchases, girls and boys! Even if you have a good experience with a vendor once doesn't mean it will always be a good experience!

Sorry that has the baked in aspects- and a very good point to test the products right away. I'm guilty of having a lot of products I just assumed had to be good based on other products. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey @robertfreise    thanks for asking, I'm up in the panhandle of Florida (Pensacola) and we're sunny and dry. We'll get some of that rain this weekend but they're talking an inch or less, which we can always use as it will be 97 here. I've got a ceiling fan on my front porch which we installed years ago for the stray cats to hang out, and I have started putting another fan out for them to get used to the sound for the upcoming heat this summer. Hope everyone is enjoying doing Daz, I've not dabbled for months.

Spencer the Golden Retriever weighed 63 pounds at his 5 monrh checkup, yesterday at 6 months he's 73 pounds. Vet says a 100 pounder for sure (or more.) He's just one big goofball..

Blue is doing well although she is unfortunately allergic to the sutures they used to spay with.  These take 3-4 months to disolve and she keeps getting small sores in the area.  Other than that she is well, fast learner and a digger indecision.  I have had to fill in way to many holes already lol!

    How is your bunch doing?

@daventaki   I have two serious diggers too. We filled with rocks then discovered when cutting the bamboo (we have it about 40 feet high) if we laid that down, it was hard for the dogs to move it. That also let the grass from adjoining areas run over to the dirt we filled with. Grass is centipede, a nice running type. So we we trim trees/bushes, we put down the cuttings if the branches are big enough. Doesn't look pretty, but neither was all the rock used previously.

The dogs are good, I'll post some pics this weekend. Thanks for showing Blue!

Hi Novica, One of the stipulations to adopt Charlie and Simon, the Brothers Ginger last year was no dogs in the home. Along with that they could not be split up, no kids, no other cats or other animals period... I can only think they went through a great deal of trauma as young cats and never developed trust of 'others'. Charlie is only now just asking me to escort him into my flatmate's bedroom so he can greet him, sniff his backpack, scratch his chin on it and do the chicken pose on his bed. The moment I move to the door, he is out of there. Simon, the 3-paw, sleeps in Thom's walk-in closet during the day, and yesterday he stumbled out and was shocked to find Thom in his bedroom after work. A streak of lightning moved from one room to mine.

We had a frantic day yesterday, major maintenance fix-up day and rooms tore apart for access. More tomorrow and then the next two Thursdays more and then maybe more after that, depending on a vendor. That window in my bedroom that had a frozen waterfall in January when we had a high of -1F to a low of -17 and snow, and later killed an 18Tb harddrive by strobing my bedroom light, causing power surges in the living room. The window was supposed to be replaced, but fell through the cracks, so a new work order went in, along with my general work order. Thankfully I had photos. And tomorrow Xfinity is coming out, I have been losing bits of sound during broadcasts on all channels. Funny that it doesn't happen when I am using my antenna and watching local channels. Simon loves to watch animal shows on it and on X. Today I got to reassemble the entertaiment components in my bedroom that were taken apart yesterday for the window.

But the cats were NOT amused at the disruption to their day.

I would love a dog, they are so much easier than a cat who gets allergies to food at weird intervals, barfs on my bed, carpets, and relieved himself on my bed when I vacumned my carpet the other day. And I am allergic to them. I have to wash a lot of bedding. Charlie makes a point of laying all over my pillows if I turn my back on him. The one thing they do have on a dog, I don't have to walk them in 2 feet of snow during a blizzard. But those razor-blade claws... (I am a little exhausted right now.)

I have been thinking about you and your family and critters. Hope all is well. And I miss your activity on your thread and evaluations on items in the store. Please take care as the hurrican season comes into its own.

    Mary

They've found such a great home with you! And yep, I can just imagine what having noisy people working in the home would do to traumatized animals. I know you're doing your best to comfort them.
I do miss posting, but after taking a serious look at what I spent since 2013 and most of it I've never touched. The only way not to get sucked back in was to not visit the store or site. Then ai was added and I didn't want to go down that rabbit hole as I explore that elsewhere, and it doesn't cost me what the 3D assets do. I really feel for the 3D artists as many of their promos and work are probably found in AI. With doing so many products in reviews, I'm pretty familiar with their styles and some of the AI art I've seen looks super close.

Couple interesting things in Fast Grab-
The Ferris Wheel has quite a few viewpoints for "other" good scenes, whether you use the Ferris Wheel or not. For under $5, you can use that colorful wall for backdrops, it's got a picnic table, park bench, etc.

(Not in Fast Grab)  Toon Horse for Daz 3 goes a couple dollars cheaper than the best price it's been, when you use that additional 30% off new items (goes to 50%)
There's also a Magix Kings Cottage in Fast Grab that has a lot of opportunities.

I don't know if you have Amusement Park - Ferris Wheel (https://www.daz3d.com/amusement-park--ferris-wheel) or not, but if you do, do you know if the wheel  spins.  As far as I can tell, it does not.  I bought it last Spring.

Hey there!  I do have it, but haven't installed it or used it. Perhaps someone who has actually done so can assist. The place to look would perhaps be in the Scene tab, breaking down the "bones" of it and seeing if in the parameters something shows up such as a slider for any of those. That's about all I can think of.
