Everyone knows on my Art Studio thread that this was definitely my favorite for the year. (I was like, "How'd I do that?") It was done in October. The teeth took a lot of work- there's blues and greens in the diffuse and specular. I didn't want a Pepsodent smile. (CLICK TO ENLARGE to see them, large render.) The settings to size down Freak were also given and they are here:
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44327/P735/#702169
Also, please post the actual render here even if you link to your gallery. They are two separate sections and this is a self contained thread.
omg just ONE??? it's like picking your favourite child!! LOL. I have two renders that I did this year that I was totally happy with - which is very unusual for me. Normally, everything I do, I'm more "hmmm i like how i did THAT, but i'm not too happy with THIS". Aaargh.
Um... La Llorona's Frock, Zev0's Growing Up morphs, Ball Joint Doll for G2F, Josie Tails Hair, Fiends Forever Ponytail Hair, The Heart of the Matter/Remembering How to Fly (was here, now at Hivewire), Nature's Variance - Shaders And Props for DS, Grass Shader for DS, FWSA Muneca for the doll, FWSA Siblings - Jaina and Jessi for the face morph and I think I used FWSA Serena for the skin on the girl,
Fortunately for me, it's easy. I got out of rendering for a while and was snapping pics in Second Life and making fractals instead. Then towards the end of the year I started getting back into rendering and have a few I liked. But one, for some reason, struck a chord with me.
I used Genesis 2 female

A Prayer for the Dead
I liked this one because of its simplicity.
It uses the As You Wish outfit by Slosh. http://www.daz3d.com/as-you-wish-genie-outfit-for-genesis-2-female-s
The textures of the outfit were all customized in Carrara. The hair and flying carpet were also constructed in Carrara.
Thanks, Slosh. Enjoyable product.
I was about to vote for another render by KaAnna that appeared on the daz3d's home page (Mi-Na).
Baring that it must be my own, and it must be a render I have ready to go now. (My number one choice is for "The Future", It's not for this time, and must remain as such) I'll settle for a dice roll between the "Daz3D Strange Substance Undergarment Armor", "Wrong Gate Address", and this one.

Fisty- I love that doll- the flexibility of her- and the lighting on it! The background with the orange dress really sets it off and I can see why this one is your favorite. I'll have to try FWSA Serena for skin materials, I really like that one.
Ameesa- The Yolanda Hair blending with the background but having the highlights shimmer through is a really nice touch- the essence of the hair is there but classically subtle. Likewise with the wings fading out. Beautifully done!
Diomede64- the viewer can really feel the flow of the carpet and I love the positioning of her feet to steady herself on it. I can also almost feel the breeze because of her fluttering vest. I really liked Slosh's product too :)
Heh heh heh- I love torturing people. Yes, only ONE.
LOL <3</p>
You have an email ;)
This thread ran off as I was hunting down product links, lol.
Brijitte, I have no idea what the outfit is she is wearing. I know that scene is in this computer somewhere, and I cant find that as well, lol.
Thanks Fisty.
Entil'Zha, "the future", lol.
"It's not for them. It's not for this time." - Varn - A Voice in the Wilderness part2.
If I had to pick just one, I'd say Hell & Back. It was the render I spent the most time on for little things like jewelry/accessories/etc. It was when I began realizing that the small things really do play a big part.

Not sure if it's my best but it's my favourite - and I haven't done anything similar since! I'm not very artistic (and can't paint to save myself) so this is the closest I'll ever get to something more artsy.
Sahris Bride
Xinxue Hair
Otherworldly wonders: Equinox
Medieval morphing dress
Advanced Light Presets for AoA's Light
Not sure why you say you're NOT artistic!! That's beautiful! So soft and lovely - the hair looks fantastic. Just had a look at your DA gallery too, and I love it all! Pah, not artistic, she says *shakes head*
It's hard for me to judge my own work, but I think this one is my favourite simply because it's a rare case of me cutting loose from the norm and doing something a bit bizarre.
Products used:
Teen Josie
Daz Horse 2
Michael 6
Chess Set
Halloween Fun
Classic Deco
Bell Flower [no longer instore]
Blue Planet
Rons Sci-Fi Optical Flares
Doesn't have to be your best, only your favorite :) And my goodness, the lighting on that one is beautiful, have to agree! Not artsy? Goodness. And HOF- yes, bizarre- but cheerful for some reason at the same time. The sharing of good times.
ZDG- I tried to find the outfit and couldn't figure it out either. Don't know what she's wearing.

HeraldOfFire, now that is cool, for many reasons.
This is one I'm particularly pleased with. The beaver is: http://www.daz3d.com/beaver-by-am
The main scene is: http://www.daz3d.com/the-courtyard-pool (Which is also available as part of http://www.daz3d.com/the-village-courtyard-bundle)
The giant tree came from http://www.daz3d.com/the-enchanted-forest
Cheers,
Alex.
Nice one alexhcowley. incredible fur on the cute fella.
I figured as soon as I looked at the scene tab, things would be easy to identify, lol. Now the game is one of translation.
The beaver is a perfect demonstration of both the skills of Alessandro Mastronadi and the merits of his Look at my hair product. I'm a huge fan.
Incidentally, as a professional practicioner in the dark and evil arts, I laughed out loud at your "a computer is a tool" remark.
Cheers,
Alex
Love this, Alex! Agreed, Alessandro is a talented creator and I'm so glad he has been bringing us these furry creatures, but you've done a great job too bringing this beaver to life.
This is a simple render. I was trying to create a reflection of the candle light on the floor. I could not get it to work. I still do not know why I decided to add the DAZ Dragon to this scene instead of just scrapping it all together.
I called it Calm and submitted it to Llola Lane's Render a Month Thread.
DAZ Dragon 3 - http://www.daz3d.com/daz-dragon-3
Skull & Candle - http://www.daz3d.com/phantoms
AOA's Advanced Ambient Light - http://www.daz3d.com/advanced-ambient-light
I used a cube primitive for the background, a plane primitive for the floor and a point light for the flame of the candle.
This might not be my best render of the year, technically speaking, but I think my favorite finished render from 2014 was Belle et la Bete.
You can find a mostly-complete list of products used here: http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/49344
(My overall favorite of the past year is one I'm working on now, but it won't be finished before 2015 so I don't suppose it counts)
These are all easy to see why they are your favorites. The lighting on all of them, and that beaver looks so real I want to hand him a piece of log!
As a lurker rather than a regular poster I was rather surprised to find this thread here in this forum, rather than in the Art Studio with most of the other render threads. From what i have seen on this site people are encouraged to post render threads in that forum, and it is really nice to see al the render threads there together and see what people are doing.
That's beautiful, Scott. What strikes me is the softness of the render which matches the softness of the message.
Moved to ART Studio since it's a render thread

I like this as it was my first play with Garibaldi and for me it turned out great.
It certainly did! The lighting in the hair looks very nice too- love the strands. I know who to go to when I need help with Garibaldi hair :)
Scott-L- I love this one- the gentle nature of Beast really comes through. I'm sure it was a challenge to get those nails close to her but not poking her skin.
Looking forward to seeing the one you finish in 2015, but by the end of next year, you might have another one to beat that one out, lol!
