    pavsikakyj,

That's interesting work! Is that G8F figure? Between the two I personally like the first version. The unsmoothed surfaces give more character to the image. And the colors are more vivid.

    Thanks for sharing. laugh

    Cheers!

Minor postwork on this one. I had started this render for Mermay #Pet, but only had time to do the kraken in the fishbowl. I decided to go back and finish the piece.

Interesting style, @LordGeneral, especially looks great on the character.

  • Aww shucks. The feedback is very much appreciated Artini.

  • @LordGeneral Love it so far.

I have found that bumping up or adding a smoothing modifier really helps get a nice cartoon look to the hair if you want it less blocky.

    vrba79,

Talk about Persona Non Grata! What's happening to your posts? It begs the question ...

Hi. What shaders do you use? And is it LineRenderer9000?

Since this just isn't gonna work here, those who wanna follow my art, and future tutorials may do so at my new devaintArt account

Its empty at the moment, but that'll change soon enough.

    Hello, NPR Peeps.

Moving away here from the pulled back bun hair style for Sgt. Andrea. It took a while to find a substitute that had short tresses (functional and practical) and one that didn't have too complicated a mesh (quick to render). This is a modified Bowl Cut Hair for Genesis 3M mop. A bit androgynous, but it has a stylish  silhouette, don't you think?

Not visibile in these renders are the hair fuzz I added at the nape. Blender particles came in handy.

Up next I'll have to alter the shader for black and white.

    Cheers!

I'm liking these colorized panels. They have a great visual style.

    FirstBastion,

Thank you!  For now I can only fiddle with the shaders procedurally to set the colors and to apply noise masks. I'm still learning how to create texture images. Until then I'm using the ones the PA created, mainly from the Sci-Fi Police Outfit for Gensis 8 attire.

BTW, I was trying out the new bowl cut hair with the combat attire. Here's how it came out. Certainly a different vibe compared to the pulled-back-bun hairstyle! smiley

    Cheers!

Hello, Peeps of the NPR Nation.

Still trying out her new hair, this time in manga-esque black and white.

It took me several weeks to get the custom textures right, but I'm happy with this character. Can't wait to start playing with her.

Custom Textures using Visual Style Shaders
Photoshop- GMIC filter Smooth (thin brush)
Topaz Studio (free version)- Pintype Afternoon Style at 50%

    LoreMistress Izaria,

Good to see you again! I've heard a lot of good things about Visual Style Shaders but never tried it myself. Does it allow for lights to be used in Daz? Creative use of lighting creates interesting shades in a render for a 2.5D look -- not wholly 3D but not 2D either. Something in between. wink

I wonder how a 2.5D look with your Photoshop and Topaz filters would look like.

    Cheers!

I honestly can't recommend Visual Style Shaders enough. It was the missing element for what I wanted to achieve for my characters in DAZ, so much so I wish there was another pack available for environments, though you can use VSS for anything it works best and easiest on character models. The best lights to use with it are the manga lights from here:https://forum.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/10961/manga-style-visual-style-topic-update-sept-23rd-2017-fixed-dropbox-links-commercial

Post work in clip studio. For the eyebrows I use the model from Sakura...

@csaa I love the latest renders. The shadows and colors really pop.

I haven't played too much with the lighting, but it does show shadows. I'll be posing her soon, so we will see!

It's hard to see but I've been using procedural nodes in Blender to texture her uniform. Originally I used the image materials that came with the armor, but these bloated the memory consumption of the render. With Blender nodes, I got a reasonable outcome, compromising details for memory savings. The image below shows the replacement. I'm still weighing whether or not to go forward with this new look.

I just exagerrated the pose and added the text in post-edit to make things wacky!

    Cheers!

New hair! I took the 90s Stylish Hair (w/o scarf) and modded it a bit. I think the wavy tresses complement the shape of her eyes and face. A keeper, don't you think?

    Cheers!
