For those of you with Corel Photo Paint, these are Smoked Glass effects. For these next ones, the R stands for the row in the colors, and the number is what color I used. So R1.5 means row 1, color square 5. That way, if you want to color coordinate using the same color, you know what I used. These will be more gentle colors. (These also remind me of satin)
Edit: See Nidale, below- she is standing in front of ONE of the rays from the second image, below. (light green)
Continuing with the Smoked Glass. The second one starts with the tint going from 9 previously, up to 46. So these last 4 will be darker/have more color.
Wanted to show you what you can do with the godrays. They give you a large variety of options when you import a figure in on top of the background. Do your render PNG so the background is transparent then load somewhere onto the background. (In Corel, it's Import) Then crop. You can have darker rays in the background, or subtle. This is FWF Britany wearing Autumn Soft, and it's Nidale. FYI, the Ciao Bella shoes go great with that outfit. (Just ignore that she's not flat on the ground, I was doing this in a rush to show you what the background looks like. I like the faint streaks in the background.) I love the fact that due to making a custom "shoe" category, I zipped right through the shoes and found exactly what I needed in very little time. (like a minute and a half.)
Whew, I hope she doesn't try to sit down in that outfit!
Let me say this- those 2000 x 2000 are misleading when you see them the size of square attachments. You will have ALL KINDS of light/dark options. Nidale was a tiny figure compared to the background. She is only in one and a half rays!
If you want a specific color for the colored godrays, let me know. The first subtle group was strength 9, the stronger colors tint strength 46, so let me know the tint strength too. Don't be shy about asking, this is your chance to have someone make a color you need. Happy to do it for you.
Cool!
This was a free image by Hendrik in the Corel share files. I moved the rays and colored them black, then tinted. Go bold! (I Ithink one of those cute mini bots would look good in front of one of these. Spunky!)
He's not happy, 'cause its "probably gonna rain".
Thanks Fisty, I am having fun! Corel has this huge library of shared images, like Filter Forge, so it's playtime! If you can use any of it (I know you can do this, just perhaps it would save you some time) feel free.
For the fun of it I plugged one of the starburst (center rayed) images in the diffuse of the skirt and quickly changed the tiling (wasn't trying to match anything up, but it did pretty well!) so keep those in mind for tropical clothes, they look like fun! (I wasn't trying to match the top, obviously)
He looks good Barbult! What hair is that? Looks very realistic, and wind blown.
More center rays. Last two are for anyone who wants woodsy colors.
This set reminded me of columns which would be great for backgrounds. I've done them in dusky conditions. The original is called Chrome Fill, by Shadarak. Remember, these are 2000 x 2000 but only 72 dpi, so if you increase it to 96, 125, 150, etc, you'd be able to isolate even one column (the one furthest to our left is in focus) if that's all you wanted, and crop it.
Thank you for these interesting files to play with :)
I have Corel PaintshopPro x5, and have been very happy with it considering the very affordable price.
Thanks for that. It will be good to be able to find everything eventually :)
Be sure to click to enlarge, the hair is gorgeous! Will do the links later, this is Bunny with Estal Hair, wanted you to see how realistic it looks, nice shine. It's a 1000 x 1000 render, with the Alienware 51 computer it took 14 minutes 17 seconds. To show the speed, below are the iterations/time/percent rendered, but sometimes the iterations weren't showing so there won't be anything for that (and it was hard writing down all three, sometimes it changed up before I could see it):
134/ 2min / 8% 225 / 3min /19% 4 min/ 32% 5 min / 49% 6 min / 73% 525 / 6:30 (sec)/ 76% 555 / 7:00 / 78%

Offline for awhile with things to do, I did make some more texture squares and will post them soon.
Oh wow, look at Ivy's ship!
I did a few closeups of LYFW Adrienne and have strange results with the eyelids. At first I thought it was simply a line, double checked it, not a shadow, then I thought perhaps the pose did it (although I did not mess with the lid at all, only did the eye side to side SLIGHTLY, so I loaded her again, no changes or poses, and you can see what's going on with the lid. The one on our left almost looks like a long horizontal growth with folds, and the right also has folds. Will someone try rendering this and see if you get the same thing? This is highly unusual. I would say that it's something I probably did, only the last one, is a simple load-and-render. No posing. I only have a spotlight added to the basic Iray default light, so that's not a lighting problem. EDIT: I tried loading her from the Content Library only, I loaded her from the Genesis 2 Females>Characters from both the Actor images when you click on images, and from the list of characters on the right when you click Characters. Both say Actors, both give me these results.
She is wearing Aubree Hair. Outfit is Dance Practice.
Please render her without posing, straight out of the box so to speak. These renders are all large, 1000 x 1600 so click to enlarge, then click again. The fourth one is loading her from the Actor images when you click on Genesis 2 Females>Characters. The first one is from the list that appears to the right.
Render times with character, hair, clothing: approximately 24 minutes.
And here's a delightful render from one of our vendors, Tako Yakido.
Just dropped by to see what's happening.
I love your Estal Hair render, Novica - looks really nice there. And there's definitely something off going on with Adrienne's eyes (sorry I don't have her to test out myself).
I've just been taking a first look at the Egyptian Mega Bundle - here's FWSA Samira with the Egyptian Outfit dress and accessories. Lazily I just loaded up one of the Aurous Iray Lights settings and threw in a (low powered) extra spotlight to the front left of Samira to lighten up her skin a little. Her hair by the way is Frawn Hair with the long parts made transparent. Oops almost forgot to say the pose is from the Pose Like an Egyptian set with minor head and neck tweaks.
(click for bigger)
I rather like that light set, I want to experiment with changing the colours (so not so much "Aurous" as "Many-colour-ous") but haven't had time yet. I started a test render of Taia and Taia Hair last night, but had to shut down before it finished cooking as I don't like to leave that PC on overnight - I think the hair was slowing things down a bit.
Yeah that light set is quite good. The freebie set Fred Winkler and Sabby gave away for Christmas is really great too if you want something that's similar but not as strongly tinted. (those are just HDRIs, no extra spots, but I've found I dont need them unless I want to do something more dramatic)
Looks great Melanie! That light does make you feel like the desert heat is radiating into the scene. The spotlight was "spot on!" LOL.
BTW, now instead of getting a sign in sign out thingie whipping through at major speed, I get an attempting to sign you out page that locks up for about THREE MINUTES. Come on DAZ!!!!
Thanks, both. I picked up that freebie light set but it's in a long list of things I've not tried out yet I loved the look of the Egyptian Mega Bundle as soon as I saw it (I've had a bit of a thing for Ancient Egypt since I was about 10 years old) so bumped it up to the top of my toybox! Well done to the PA's on this one.
Can also recommend that freebie set FW and Sabby gave away at xmas - it's brilliant adn I've been using it in my iray renders more than any other set.
Likewise, it became my go-to promo setup after the first time I tried them. Just have to rember to turn off the headlamp.
BTW, although I did select to open a _blank target window, it apparently isn't doing a separate popup window on the Adrienne images. You don't want to X out or you'll be off the thread, you need to <- and go back. Did anyone else get a chance to render Adrienne and see what is going on with the eyelids?
Here is Adrienne full face mats are 3delight not iray, which may be the reason you see artifacts.
Could be- she looks good. I can still see the horizontal lines, but not the additional depth of a section on the lid. I'll have to try her with the Iray Genesis 2 mats added and we'll see what that does. Thanks for checking her.
EDIT: Nope, still the same. I loaded her again, no posing (I was thinking perhaps moving the eyes side to side had caused something weird, but I had already checked that the previous time.)
My Victoria 6 is installed. I am assuming it is loading onto her, as all I do is click the avatar (when you select People>Genesis 2 Female>Characters and the avatars appear.
She lookd pretty decent in iray, if not for the tearducts. I'd probably just replace those with another iray ready gen2 female's tearducts. I'm not fussy what those look like. =-)
SereneNight- how did you load her? See my Edit in the post above. I am not loading V6 first, I am simply using the avatar under the Genesis 2 Females>Characters. I am going to reinstall VIctoria 6 as I am not seeing her under Characters, but DIM says she is installed.
Hmmm, now Victoria is showing in the avatars for the characters, so I am going to try another straight load of Adrienne and see if it was my (apparently) missing V6. I hate it when DIM says it is installed and there's a folder showing, and the item isn't there.
