Shape Magic Models in Use
A couple of weeks ago I posted about Shape Magic in General Freepozitory (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/51860/). Shape Magic is a model generator I first released in 2001 and use to sell, but it’s been free since 2009. You can download it from my site at http://www.shapemagic.com/index_sm.htm
Shape Magic models work well in Bryce, the main program I used at the time. Most of my site's examples, freebies, and tutorials were tested and rendered in Bryce. A few were tested in Poser, Vue and Daz Studio, but as each program has its own idiosyncrasies, I didn't do much with them. In recent years I've focused primarily on Daz Studio. I've also built up a decent collection of shaders. So a few weeks ago I decided to relook at Shape Magic and pleased to find I now know enough to easily use Shape Magic with Daz Studio.
I created this thread in Art Studio so I can keep the one in Freepozitory focused on new freebies. In this thread, I'll post renders of Shape Magic models in use. I'm going to try and follow the approach Novica's uses in her product reviews and list the products used in the renders, especially the shaders. I also invite anyone else who makes a render using Shape Magic models to post their results here as well.

You can see that the appearance of a model can be quite different depending upon the shaders in use. That's one reason Bryce always had a high appeal for me, as there is a wide variety of material choices available. I'm getting there with Daz Studio now too. I hadn't realized how many Supersuit shaders I was choosing. I'm glad I picked those up when they were on sale recently.
The previous two models were assembled from multiple Shape Magic parts. This one uses a single SM part.

Thanks for this, pictures and links looks really great, it feels like magic. I didn't know Novica was she, and somehow i found it hard to follow because that thread is going for some time, but I should try it again.
This one looks very good and I will try making something too. Thanks for all your hard work that went into this, I hope I can learn and do something good too. Will try it soon. I have to say that i like shaders a lot and have a nice collection. Atm I am testing this: Morphing Rocks And Formations (DAZ Christmas freebie 2014) and trying to put up a scene for New users contest that is about lightning.
CURTAINS
Another multiple-part model. The curtains, curtain rod, finials and rings were made in Shape Magic. Assembled and textured in Daz Studio. The first image shows a room with a set of blowing curtains, as if the windows are open. The second image shows a closeup of the curtain rod assembly. The rings are just a series of node instances of one ring object. It's a little tricky to get the curtains positioned and the textures aligned but I think the results are pleasing.
Curtain shader is Tapestry 02 from Jewels of Architecture SE: Interior Textiles
Curtain rod and hardware shader is Ivory Pumpkin from Tarnished and Polished Shaders

Good luck. Let me know if you have any problems.
Ok I will. It is magical and very easy to use :). I made something like wand. I will try making some more and eventualy a picture with it. I have done basic tutorials and still need to do those advanced how to put together few made pieces. Then I will see how it will go. Good thing is also that Bryce is also used and I am trying to learn to use it too.

great models and textures - keep them coming !
thanks! I've been learning a lot about Daz Studio as I prep these. There are lots of useful shaders and materials you can reapply from various packages.
LONG NECKED VASE
This was always one of my favorite vase designs from Shape Magic. Shape Magic objects can have 5 material groups (top and bottom face and three stacked vertically up the model). Each group can then have a different shader applied.
Top of vase uses shader Armor - Gold Embossed 2 from from Supersuit Fantasy Pack
Middle of vase uses the floor texture from The Living Room.
Bottom of the vase uses shader Rattan Wall from Pimp My Prop. The V and H tiling was changed from 8 to 1.
Setting is Affable for The Ballroom.

http://www.daz3d.com/pimp-my-prop
http://www.daz3d.com/affable-for-the-ballroom
The middle texture was an accidental discovery. I originally had the vase on a table in The Living Room. I meant to copy a shader from a different object but accidentally captured the floor texture instead. When I applied it to the vase, my first reaction was "that's not what I meant to do" quickly followed by "that looks good". It's pretty straightforward to add shaders to an object but most materials don't seem to apply unless I load an item and copy and paste the texture (I'm not all that familiar with Daz Studio, so I may just be overlooking an easier method).
A closeup of the long necked vase textures.
FANTASY SHIELD
Shield is one object made in Shape Magic
Main shader used is Bronze Old from Real Metals for DAZ Studio
Other shader used is Old Gold from same set
Figure is base Genesis with Male_Body_5 and X_Male-Head6 from Raw Dwarfology
Pose is 02 from Pretorian for Genesis
Clothing is from DragonLord for Genesis using Guardian materials
Setting is Castle Keep 2 - Dark Tales

That shield looks good, I wish I could make things like that. and everyhting looks very inspiring I will have to check other pictures, links and continue the tutorials and my works with SM. I have been busy lately with intsalling Unity 5 and Unreal 4 and playing some games :) but will have to try to see what I can do again with SM hoping to learn it.
I have checked all links and pics, they are really wonderful. Those shaders for DS are really nice. I added everything to my Wishlist :D. Now I will try to continue the tutorials and my work and to do something till next weekend :)
Good luck. I'm thinking of doing a short intro video tutorial sometime soon to cover the basics of the program.
CURVED LEAVES
Most of the models I've been posting have been old ones I made some years ago. My wife had a new project for me last night, an image of a wedding cake with leaves wrapped around it. A flat plane for the leaves was too static, so I used Shape Magic to make a few curved/twisted planes with 36 polygons each. The image shows the leaves floating on a pool of water (I'm not done with the cake yet, otherwise I would show it). The front leaf is just a primitive plane from Daz Studio, the row of four leaves in the back shows different amounts of curve and twist from Shape Magic. A lot more variety is possible, and with instancing, you could make a lot of floating or blowing leaves.
Leaf image is P3DA_TX_Leaf_37 from Bushes2_06a from Pred Pack - Bushes II
Setting is NoAi-Ground from Aikanaro found in Genesis Starter Essentials. Made water more blue and opaque.

BLOWING LEAVES
Building upon the last post, I decided to make a render of blowing leaves. You can make a group of instances in Daz Studio, but they show up in regimented rows and if you want a random placement, you have to hand place them which is a pain. I found a script by Tofusan that does a good job of creating and randomly placing instances around an object. I used a squashed sphere at two different sizes to create a cloud of leaves. I switched the leaf shader to a fall color.

MORE VASES
I bought a new set of shaders so decided to try them out on some Shape Magic vases.

Right vase use shader Glazed Green 02 from the same set.
