    Thank You, that might be good, but also tutorials are very nicely done and those tutorial figures are very cool. I really like it all together. This is actualy being my first try at designing something and this is just something that can make me work on it :)

    For me I hoped that I will do something today but all day passed and I didn't do much except few downloads. So I will try doing things in next week. Things I need to do first is to download all those files on Shape Magic site as they really look good and very usable.

    I just might try adding some leaves that would be very nice. Lets see if i can find some leaves :)

    I reorganized my free download page at Shape Magic so it should be easier to navigate for Shape Magic design files, .obj models, .DUF models for Daz Studio and .obp models for Bryce. Everything works for Bryce but I'm checking to be sure all the .obj files work in Daz Studio. One thing I've noted is that whereas Bryce is very flexible on material applications (e.g., world, object, spherical, cylindrical, UV mapped, etc.), Daz Studio seems to only work with UV mapped. Shape Magic applies a cylindrical mapping which works fine for many objects but not all. After doing a search, I found 3 mCasual scripts that can create a copy of the .obj with a box, planar, or spherical UV mapping. Easy to use.

    Here's an example of a Water Wheel from my site http://shapemagic.com/downloads.htm. There are two .obj files, the wheel itself and one side. You create an instance of the side, rotate it 180, and position it on the other side. The left wheel in the image shows the cylindrical mapping with the Board and Batten 01 shader from Pimp My Prop (http://www.daz3d.com/pimp-my-prop). It doesn't look so well with the original cylindrical mapping. I used mCausal's mcjBoxUV script to give it a cubical mapping. The wheel on the right shows the result which is much better. I also turned off smoothing in the shader to preserve the sharp edges of the wood.

    This looks good. I like shileds very much and columns and trying to make collection of those :). What I have done is that I have downloaded most of the files from the site, will soon download all. I have read trough all tutorials (except that with house which is a bit more complex) and tried to make potion bottle with cork. I loaded bottle as template and made cork but DS is crashing when I load it though bottle works ok (except that i made it with hole in the bottome :)). in SMG cork was partialy in the bottle so maybe it was the reason.

    Anyway materials were ok, and my bottle had 3 material zones. Not sure about UV mapping yet will need to read and try that tutorial with UV mapper. I hope I will continue to work with it and try to make some objects and pictures from already made ones. Thanks for all this. It really looks good and I like it because of simplicity. I am hoping to try to work with Hexagon soon too but will work with this first and try making something.

    For Bryce, you don't need to worry too much about UV mapping as you can add materials and change their properties/orientation in the materials editor. For Daz, there's a check-box at the bottom of the Save tab in Shape Magic which you can check and it will add cylindrical UV mapping to the .obj file. I discussed UVmapper in the tutorials before I added UV mapping in Shape Magic 2.1 (the current release).

    Not sure about the crashing of the cork. If you have future problems, you can send me a copy of the .smg and .obj files and I can check to see what's going on. It's happened to me occasionally.

    FANTASY COTTAGE
    This is one of the more complex models I made using Shape Magic parts. I did it at the request of a user and turned it into a tutorial as well. The parts were designed in Shape Magic, imported and assembled in Daz Studio. Mushrooms are also Shape Magic objects.

    Here's a list of shaders used:
    Window glass used Glass Red from By Candle Light For DAZ Studio
    Building sides used Planks 1 from Wood Shaders for DAZ Studio. Diffuse color was changed to a brown.
    Roof used Roof Red Dirty Tiles from Pimp My Prop
    Window frames, roof trim, roof finials, and front door used 03D Red Hots from Design Tool Box Paint and Paper.
    Front door frame and doorknob used this same shader with the diffuse color changed to a brown.
    Chimney top used this same shader with the diffuse color changed to orange.
    Steps, walkway and foundation used Flagstone from Genesis Starter Essentials.
    Mushrooms used DNAT-Moss 10 from Shades Of Life - Nature

    Setting is !!Yard from Yard Builder and MPCycForest from Multiplane Cyclorama.

    Thank You, I have tested it in DS and it looks really great. I didn't have time to work with tutorial for SMG beacuse i needed to workout papers for my beach rental. I am planing to work on it in the future, wish I could do it by next sunday but not sure, especialy want to that UV mapping tutorial. Thanks again for everything really good stuff.

    Animated Candle
    The candle, candle holder and flame were made in Shape Magic. I then made a second model of the flame, by adding a 60 degree curve on the special effects tab. After the original shapes were imported in Daz Studio I imported the modified flame using Morph Loader Advanced. I then made a simple animation to show a flickering flame on the candle.

    Burning Candle
    Going back to Shape Magic, I modified the candle to have a shorter height. Since there's a twist special effect in the original (180 degrees), I had to adjust the value for the relative heights of the two candles so the twist didn't animate. I then loaded the new candle as a morph target. I adjusted the animation so the flame continues to flicker as the flame follows the candle height down.

    Since the candle morphing and animation turned out fairly well, I decided to try another morph/animation combo. I made a very long, narrow cylinder in Shape Magic and saved the model. I then added twist, curve and bend special effects and saved a second model. This animation simply morphs between the two models.

    Mage's Staff
    Many of the scenes I render come about by first making something in Shape Magic, then that object inspires me to create a scene featuring it in use. After making a spiral horn in Shape Magic, I made its mirrored-twin, a crude skull-like shape to hold them, and a spiral staff. All was then assembled in Daz Studio.

    Horns uses shader DG Goldwood 1 from DG Shader Essentials
    Staff uses DG Aged Wood 5R from DG Shader Essentials
    Skull uses DNAT Wood 14 from Shades Of Life - Nature
    Figure is Michael 5 Heroic with Aging Morphs For Genesis
    Clothing is Genesis Ranger
    Setting is Merlin's Oak, Plants and Props Set

    It looks great. For me it was Easter and I hoped that I will do tutorials with SMG but it turned out that I need to do some other things so I ended up not doing much except downloading few things. I will try to do it soon, it is next thing that I planned but we will see how it will go.

    Ok I have read trough tutorial for UV mapping http://www.shapemagic.com/tutorial_part3.htm

    But I am still not sure how to make UV map for a model with that program that I can use with DS. How can it be done if I want to make a texture for a model that I have made with Shape Magic for example?

    If you are using Shape Magic models in Daz Studio, you can IGNORE that tutorial - it's no longer needed. You can UV map Shape Magic models within Shape Magic itself. I'll point out how in a moment.

    If you import a .obj model into Daz Studio (whether made in Shape Magic or another modeler), there are certain steps you need to take to apply a shader or material. I'll outline those steps as well in case you are unfamiliar with them.

    Step 1: Within Shape Magic
    The first attached image shows the Save File tab in Shape Magic. At the very bottom are 4 check boxes near the red star. Click on three of them until a check mark appears in the box: Group Names, Material Names, and UV mapped. Then click the Save button. The .obj file will be written with cylindrical UV mapping and group and material names.

    Step 2: Import into Daz Studio
    Choose File-Import from menu. The second image shows the import dialog. Be sure the indicated check boxes are checked.

    Step 3: Add Shader
    To add the shader, select the object with the Universal tool. As shown in the third image, go to the Surfaces Tab (A), click on the Editor sub-tab (B), then click on the surface(s) you want to add a shader to (C). Or you can directly select a material zone with the Surface Selection tool. Then click on the Preset sub-tab (D) and select the shader you wish to use.

    Even if UV mapped, Daz Studio also requires material group names to be present. That's why in Step 1 you want to check the box Material Names. When checked, you also have 5 material zones that can have a different shader each. The fourth image shows what happens with different combinations of boxes are checked in Step 1. Only the last two have the 5 material zones.

    Alternate Step 3: Add Material
    In addition to shaders, you can add a material by copying the material from one object and pasting to the Shape Magic object. As with shaders, you have to select the material zone under the Editor sub-tab. The material will apply depending upon how it was UV mapped. In this case, the Shape Magic model NEEDS UV mapping to show the material. The fifth image shows a grassy material added to all 6 columns. Only those with UV mapping show any effect (the others actually disappear!).

    Thank You, this answers a lot and will be very useful. But I need to export UV maps to use them as templates for textures of objects that I made. It is probably possible with UV mapper or maybe with DAZ astudio only that I don't know how to do it and need good tutorial for that.

    For example I made boots with Shape Magic or a Vase or anything else, I need to make UV template like this in order to make textures for it like this. I am hoping that I am not asking too much, but I really need to figure how to this either with UV mapper or trough DS to be able to make good textures, I know shaders could be used too but I was thinking to do it with textures.

    Glad you found a thread to help. I don't know much about making complex UV maps. I've only used UVmapper occasionally to make vertical material zones rather than horizontal as Shape Magic creates them.

    Heart
    Someone in the Bryce forum was trying to make a heart. Here's one I did in Shape Magic. The first image is rendered in Daz Studio. The second was done in Bryce with a bandage made in Shape Magic. It's edges were trimmed with booleaned cubes.

    Cigarettes
    There was a question in the Members Only forum about tobacco items. I knew right away I could make smoking-related props in Shape Magic. This render shows the first one I did. The cigarette on the right is a normal straight one. The one on the left is a filtered cigarette with a droop to it. Next I plan to do a hand-rolled version and then a cigar and a pipe.

    Oh well, I jumped to pipes next. Here's one in a scene and then a second render showing four pipes. These are all the same basic Shape Magic design with a different set of bends applied and two different bowl profiles.
