    PhilW -

Attached is a screeshot from P3DO showing a Poser Mocap selected, and the preview panel in the lower left corner.  I don't have a BVH file on this computer but I think it works the same way.

Not sure I have any animated poser files, but it doesn't look like that for my BVH files, just show no preview.  I thought that it was supposed to preview Poser files, but it doesn't seem to work for me, it just shows the usual icon preview, not a 3D preview.

I'm on my main computer with BVH files, P3DO gives me a preview window same as with Poser Mocaps, screen shot attached.  This is V 2.4.6 of P3DO Pro.  And BTW, if you have Poser installed, there should be some Poser mocaps in the Pose folder.

It looks like only the Pro version ($25 New, $15 Upgrade) has the "BVH & Poser Poses player (skeletal animation)":

Posermocap (here at Daz3d) has some really fun ones! So does Cliff Bowman

Oh... and Dartanbeck has a couple as well

I have cracked it!  I have the Pro version, and had re-installed it to my newest PC, but I had neglected to enter the registration details, so while I thought that I was running the Pro version, the Pro features were disabled. Once I realised that (I noticed that it said "unregistered" in the title bar) and entered my registration details, I am now getting the previews for BVH files - and very useful that will be too! Looks like I could be using P3DO a lot more now!

Glad to hear it.  I was starting to wonder if I was hallucinating about the mocap feature in my P3DO.  surprise

Yes, its a very nice feature, its hard to visualize a lot of mocaps based on only a still image and a few words of description.  I think the mocap in this 1 minute video at ~30sec was titled "Jump and Hang", but that didn't really explain it.

Good exampole Steve, and yes, a lot easier to browse and find what you want when you can get a quick preview of the BVH animation.

I've been waiting for us to get yelled at.

As it's title implies, further explained early on in the thread, this thread is actually supposed to just be to alert followers of the thread of great deals that we find. The author has suggested that further discussion get moved to their own threads to keep all of the followers of the thread from getting notified for a good deal, only to find casual conversation.

Of course, this never bothers me. I'm a big culprit of banter.

  • While not specifically for Carrara in the free section they now have: http://www.daz3d.com/katumi-dress-textures (for a Genesis dress) http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-scifi-academy-textures ; (also for Genesis), and http://www.daz3d.com/the-living-room-collection which might not be bad set in Carrara.  For free I am certainly going to give it a try.

Living room is Poser compatible so should work in Carrara

Today's Fastgrab contains a bunch of products from TangoAlpha that are listed as compatible with DAZ Studio and Carrara. The Medieval Hall and Garden looks particularly tasty.

...and a couple of new freebies too! (or are these only free for PC members?)

  • Heh everyone beat me today.  Yes http://www.daz3d.com/hemlock-folly and http://www.daz3d.com/jackson-s-field have Carrara versions I bleieve.  At least everything that listed Carrara as a compatible had a different installer with Carrara specific materials (that I have got anyway).  That http://www.daz3d.com/medieval-hall-and-garden does look intersting hmmm...

And Dart, yes those two freebies are PC+ only UNLESS you buy something else then you can have one of them in your cart for free.  I think it is the mirrors.  I could be wrong and perhaps both qualify if you buy something and have them in your cart at the time.  Certainly worth a try if you don't have PC+ and were going to buy something anyway (that is if you wanted the PC+ item in the first place)

Having PC+, I grabbed 'em both um right away!!! ;)

Aw Man! I hope those TangoAlpha deals are still on when I get my allowance! surprise Man, those kits are phenomenal!!!

Yes, all my sets are built in Carrara, and the Carrara native version is included. Even if you don't plan to render in Carrara, you can still think of it as having the source code. smiley It's not just native mats, it's replicators, native duplications, native models & groupings etc, so you get all the benefits of Carrara optimisations that you wouldn't have from an imported DS set. Also, Hemlock Folly was updated last summer to use Howie's Ultrascatter (which in some ways is even better than Carrara's surface replicator). So even though it has an oldish SKU, it's bang up to date in terms of Studio tech.

    TangoAlpha -

Yes, I am very glad to see such high quality products in Carrara format.  I have decided to give up on DS products, since the DUF format never seems to work in Carrara.  Most Poser products work fine, and that is what I normally buy, although not here at DAZ much anymore since very few new products come out.  So the Carrara format is a great advantage, I don't have to redo the lights, procedural shaders, nada.  Thanks.

Just goes to show what is possible in Carrara.  :)  Thanks for your wonderful work.

Well worth getting the bundle, the amount of props you get is awesome - this whole set is HUGE!

Question:  The "County Crime Lab" shows:

    • 1 DSON Core Installer
    • 1 Carrara Core Installer

But the "Props" shows only the DSON installer and only DUF files, although it does show it being Carrara compatible.  Is  the Props product different?  I've had trouble using DUF files in Carrara.

That's a store page error. There's a full Carrara installer. All the props are Carrara native, some are even Carrara rigged.

Okay, thanks.  I thought that was the case, but just wanted to check.  As always, very nice to have Carrara format products available.
