Yeah, I wondered if the name was a call out to the Dollhouse series (although Dichen played Sierra and Echo was played by Eliza Dushku)

I'm practically face-blind and even I thought "Wait, is that meant to be Dichen Lachman?" so I think we can assume that the resemblance is pretty obvious.

I assume the call out goes more to "The 100".

Yes, I remember Monkey Magic. I have been looking for a Tripitaka costume for G8F for ages.

Was that the US name? I'm pretty sue in the UK it was just "Monkey" (following on from the success of "The Water Margin").

The TV series being referred to is https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078659/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_5_tt_8_nm_0_q_monkey%20magic about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_King there have been many adaptations over the years. The character morph in question is good. The "muck rake" is great. The attached is my monkey statue. In the Chinese zodiac I am a monkey. I also own the full DVD box set for the TV series in the above link.

According to Wikipedia, title was Monkey but it's often referred to as Monkey Magic due to the lyrics of its title music.

As a kid, I remember reading "Monkey", which was Arthur Waley's translation of "The Journey to the West". I think the TV series was directly based on "Monkey", so that was indeed the title in the UK.

Will we get Sandy (Sha Wujing) next?

Incidentally, Wikipedia says that "Monkey" inspired the novel "Norstrilia" by the SF writer Cordwainer Smith. As a scholar and Sinophile, Smith would certainly have known about "The Journey to the West", although maybe he first encountered it through Waley's translation. I'm not sure I see the overlap between the plot of "Norstrilia" and "Journey", but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ...

I've read the Waley translation but missed the series somehow (not sure if it was a case of taping it and the tapes dying before they could be viewed or what).

My first thought for Tony was Anya Taylor-Joy, but I feel like it might be someone else that I can't put my finger on.

I can't think of who Tony is either. Mousso already made an Anya look alike: MSO Mina HD for Genesis 8.1 Female | Daz 3D

Mina is unmistakably Anya (or MAYBE Natalie Dormer); Tony is just kind of Anya by default, because I can't think of who else it could be.

I'm getting a slight David Bowie vibe off Braxon II, but perhaps that's just the "Afraid of Americans"-era stripe beard. And if it is Bowie, it's Bowie filtered through LexaKiness's trademark "starved vampire" look, so it's not an exact match.

Definitely see the Bowie resemblance too.

The word is stylization. All 3D artists have it - just to different degrees.

Is HD Ivy a repeat? Or does HID just have a type? Because I could swear they've released this exact character before.

  • AshTheZombieAshTheZombie Posts: 38

The makeup in many of HIDs characters are pretty similar. No clue on who this is supposed to be. Starbyface shows Sasha Luss pretty often but the heights dont match.

I think it may be modeled after Ashley Benson (height matches, unlike with HID Lisa who I previously had down as Ashley Benson.)

She definitely looks a lot like HD Lisa. Ivy may be one of his rare non celebrity models. I might be wrong, but I can't find the celebrity she's based on.

For a moment, I thought it was supposed to be jessica biel (in the kneeling post shot) but not really once you compare.

By the way, HID3D, when are we going to see a Sydney Sweeney figure?  You'd make a LOT with that one!
