that's pretty brtilliant Stezza !
beaut composition, love the narrative and the enigma !
hey I am still here sorry, I check the forums everyday usually but cannot post from my Ipad as you know so I am silent when I would rather be vociferous.
I will be retiring soon in a few months Daz soon ;) so will either be here more or less depending on UB's planets!
Recently I have been experimenting with simple hard body physics for simming simple cams and gears just for fun.
I admit that ai imagery has become a downer for me (every one's a poet who has acces to a f*&&^%$# keyboard) and I am concentraing on making stuff with Carrara in the real world that ai cannot emmulate or steal (yet) - eg real world prints and three dprints plus experimenting with 2/3d laser engraving (relief work) that you can use carrara depth maps for
in answer tpo the big question about the challenges - I don't know the answer.
I used to do "Illustration Friday" where you got a prompt every Friday so it was a once a week thing. The prize was to be featured on their site ?( cant recall) .
But I know I used to hang out for Friday so I could get the creatibve juices going.
I'll post something on another thread
this makes me sad, I thought as an actual artist (3D asset users are already getting my pyre ready) AI would not really have much impact on you as rather like photography
people would still want physical paintings and stuff
I have the past few days been doing 3D because got bored with AI
(but still am trying with little success to clone my late mother's voice using it and doing a few deepfakes using photos and homemovies)
Hi Wendy,
There are other reasons. I've worked with a NY agent for many years who has almost sold my work on a quite a few occasions. The most promising was a guy who did children's animation series. He wanted to turn one of my books into a series and promised the Earth for about 12 months - lots of money - and then it fell through after 12 months and he told us it was no too 'old fashioned.'
Last year I did work for a website that sells animations to the BBC I did all the characters and numerous illustrations - not sure f the series has sold - but the money was lousy and I cannot share the workk though it is some of my best.
Two years ago I did my 'best' painting - and I knew it was as good as I get so I stopped painting ;) Best to stop while you are happy!
The other thing about 3d work is that it made me fat :) When I stopped doing for hours a day and did other stuff I lost 12 kilos... pain in the butt as I had to get all new clothes :)
I'm still working in Carrara jkust in different ways. I'll post some simple physics sims when I get the gears to stop leaving the planet at frame five - has something to do with collison radius and sim quality I think... the idfea is to play in Carrara and then make it real. I'm sure there is a good market for simple sim software that is relatively cheap
simple stuff like this 41sqGEPjVgL._SX351_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg (353×499) (media-amazon.com)
the term "starving artist" has its basis in fact sadly
Welcome to the retired club !!!
As regards to answers about the life of the universe and Carrara, I was thinking of dropping the competition format and have a simple render challenge, instead of it being "Illustration Friday" it would be monthly/bi-monthly and renders done to a chosen theme. While I appreciate UB's dedication to the prizes, I would have trouble asking for sponsorship for the same small group of 4 to 6 people. Maybe ask Ann to select her most favourite render and provide a prize to them ? Happy to go with what everyone wants !!!
Looking forward to how this one fills out !!!
me three it is a ubiquitous enigma of eclectic proportions

I think quick and clean is good. You are right, I didn't ask for sponsorship on my last challenge because of the dwindling numbers. But as UB says, there is a good argument to have prizes. I like all your ideas :)
I guess we need to ask what we hope to get out of using Carrara? Of course the more users the merrier as far as lots of ideas coming through.
