+ 1 // pretty cool
thanks Bunyip02 and Ed3d - admittedly it's very bad and after a few weeks work it could be worse :)
you're more than Welcome +
How are we going on the animation UB ?
Slow but sure. :)
The scene takes place in a suburban neighborhood. I haven't even started animating the scene yet. Building a 360 degree indoor-outdoor scene for animation is way more time-consuming than building a backdrop for a single frame render.
I also haven't yet looked for voices for the characters. Just assuming that when the time comes, I will find them.
It will almost be a relief to start animating!
ElevenLabs has voices
Wendy, thanks for the suggestion!
I actually went ahead and signed up for the free program. I blew through a third of my monthly alottment of characters in the first hour, just exploring the boundaries. :)
Fortunately, I watched a tutorial before starting. Some major hidden stuff there (prompts). If it wasn't for the tutorial, I would have quickly dropped the program, wrongly thinking that it was too limited.
they are certainly much nicer than the Microsoft TTS voices I have used before
And then + some Others W.I.P.s
Nice !!!
And Thanx Kindly +
in the dead thread for Halloween looking out the outback loo door!
Clever and interesting, as usual. :)
Sorry to be missing in action. It will be as least a couple of weeks before I can focus on Carrara again. The weather is starting to change, and I have procrastinated on home projects that should have been done months ago.

~ Lookin' Out My Backdoor ~ render away
not really sure of the meaning + Thanx
Hmmm, I can feel another render coming on !!!
Mwahahahah - thought of a good one, it will be a few days until I can do it as on my laptop, too hot for the graphics computer !!! Inspiration is Stezza's Dunny scene ....
Computer cooled off enough over-night to do a render !
Title - Fly - "Where's the backdoor to this place ?"
kind of thought of this but not sure about it ??
_ and actually , a Calender( printed paper ) , could be Alright
not sure how they could have it + Thanx
'Slip Out the Back Jack!' - A retro Theme so a Retro Render
Poser 6 James... ...Just got home from Illinois,
Recently I have been exploring my old Poser content runtime. I occasionally rendered with Poser up until the Poser 7 release but hardly ever opened it after I became a Carrara user, except as a plugin for Carrara (the old Wardrobe Wizard got a lot of use). I have a history-themed clothing collection for the Poser 7 figures (Simon and Sydney) from Content Paradise. For the current theme, I thought the hippie outfits would be appropriate. P7 Simon is slipping out the back door as Poser 7 Sydney greets Poser 6 James. The Pre-Work included adjusting some Poser shaders for Carrara, of course. Perhaps of particular interest, I tried to add some sub-surface scattering to the skin of the Poser 6 James figure carrying the suitcases. Also of interest, Poser had its own version of dynamic hair. While I don't think it worked in Carrara, Poser did include conforming hair caps for its base characters. So another element of Pre-Work included growing Carrara dynamic hair on the hair cap for the Poser 7 Sydney figure. I used transmap mesh hair for the two male characters, not Carrara dynamic hair. I did do some minor postwork. The shadows were exceptionally harsh. So I rendered two versions of the base render, one with the lights using shadows and one with the lights' 'cast shadows' box unchecked. I also rendered a shadow pass from the multipass options. I used an image editor to blur the shadow pass and then used it to add shadows to the version of the base render without shadows.
This render uses an old program to render old content, and it shows. But I hope some of the fun I had putting it together comes through.
Here is the scene setup and some of the render passes.
My take on Tamborines and Elephants are Playing in the Band - a page of comic panels
Panel 1 - the establishment shot. Needs a village on the smaller hill but here is the terrain. This is a summer scene near a mountain whose higher elevations still has some snow all year. At this point, I am just trying to get the terrains the way I want. I am using two Carrara terrain objects, which I hope to integrate to look like they belong together. One terrain, the mountain, is based on a larger scale (300 by 300) in the terrain modeler than the second (default medium scene 100 by 100). I use a multichannel mixer for both terrains. I match the lower shaders of the smaller terrain to the lower elevation of the larger terrain. The upper portion of the larger terrain is again divided by elevation, with the middle of the mountain using a slope blender. That way it looks like the vegetation continues up the flatter portions of the mountain but falls away as it gets steeper.
Nice render !!! You are getting plenty of mileage out of those old figures !
Thanks
that's classic Bunyip 02
Thanks !!!
great to see older figures being shown a litlle love, really gets the feeling of 1960's homecoming , couldn't trust those 60's housewives
oh the shadows are terrific and add that feeling of nostalgia
Thank you, Headwax.
Here is the next step of my establishment shot panel for my 1-page comic, tamborines and elephants are playing in the band. There is now a small toonish village on the lower hill. At this zoom I don't know if you can make out the name of the town over the entrance. I doubt it.
Next step.
Yet another step. (Still needs some traffic on the road to the village)
