Tried the site with both Firefox and Edge, and no warnings pop up.

Same here.  My default browser is Opera, and that's working too, so I'm stumped.sad

When I click on either of the links, I get a page that says "This connection is not private.  This website may be impersonating "charlottesmagiclife.com" to steal your personal or financial information.  You should close this page."  Then there is no way to continue.  I've never had a problem with this before.  I'm very sad, I really want to know how this story goes, I'm totally hooked!

Oh no!  I'm really sorry you're having problems with the website, Fae3D.  Try typing in https://charlottesmagiclife.com and see if that works.  If not I will continue to post to dropbox as well as the website.  Unfortunatley,  I burnt out a fan on my main pc and it is in the shop right now. sad  Should have it by the end of the week. Don't worry, I won't leave you hanging.  I really value your readership! laugh

Problem is on my end!  It turns out that the website filters that my husband uses on our internet are VERY strict, and are blocking it (probably because it's a new domain).  He's going to fix it for me.  Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the help!!!

Teaser for chapter 14, which is delayed because of computer problems.  I burnt out the cpu fan.  Too much DAZ for the poor thing.

  • David R A teaser for the next chapter!! laugh Yes, we do abuse our computers with DAZ stuff! frown Hope it gets fixed soon! smiley

I really like your secondary characters - from the lieutenant here, to Kurt's colleagues, Sophia's informant, the older gentleman in the elevator, the lady at the firestation early on. They all look very natural. Character design and choice of clothing and hair etc. work really well!

I have some additional characters to do for part 3 for the princess story this week, sigh. It's so much work, all of this stuff. (And I'm so slow.) You make it look a lot easier than it is! wink

Chapter 14 is finally up.  It gave me some technical challenges, but here it is.  I hope you enjoy.

Welcome to “Charlotte’s Magic Life,” my DAZ comic experiment.  It is based on two characters that live in my gallery and whom I’ve grown very fond of, a young lady named Charlotte and her lover, Kurt.  There is no Sci-fi, or fantasy (although I may add some fantasy elements in the future).   It’s not Manga or anything like that.  Just sort of “domestic comedy” intended to amuse as it follows Charlotte and Kurt’s lives together and separately in the fictional city of Farrington New Hampshire.  The style is straight DAZ with minimal post-work because I want to be able to work quickly and get stuff done.

What you need to know about the main characters:

Charlotte Rose Coleman is a divorced mother of two, who leads a normal if challenging life and lives in a mobile home on the outskirts of town.  Her office job keeps a roof over her family’s heads, but it can be a struggle sometimes.  She'd love to leave the trailer for a nice house in the country, but financially, that seems out of reach.  She has at times felt like a hopeless loser, but that seemed to change when she met…

Kurt Leandro Ulrich, bachelor, never married, and up until now never in a serious relationship.  When in his 20's he was something of a hound, but as he approached 30 he decided maybe there are more important things than, as he put it, “what’s goin’ on between my two big toes.”  Then he met the love of his life.   He is a firefighter with the Farrington Fire Department because he never outgrew a love for the dream job of so many young boys.  He lives in a rather tacky downtown apartment.

The first story in what I hope will be a series is titled “Sophia,” and involves a woman who…well, you’ll see.

This is chapter 1.  I will post the first few pages as screenshots and the whole chapter as an attached PDF if you want to read on.  I really hope you enjoy it, and feel free to comment on anything.

I've only read the first four pages so far but I am enjoying it. The humor is a delight so far and the story is engaging. I definitely want to know what happens next, but I wanted to pop in and say that I'm really enjoying your story so far!

She really is living in a delusional "la-la" dreamland.  We could feel sorry for her,  except,  stuff like this can still be toxic and damaging to the innocent party,  who has to suffer the consequence for no reason other than being on the wrong side of the "crazy".  As usual the plotting and pacing is perfect.  The slow peeling of the onion and the layers introduce us to character analysis and story.  Another great chapter.

Oh yah,  as an after thought,  she does live in a great condo though...

Thanks.  There is something about Sophia that is a little tragic.

Whoa,  there are so many titles on that site.  Do you find they help provide reader audience traffic?

Yeah there are a lot of comics on the site.  I wish I had time to go through them.  Some look really interesting.
I'm actually amazed by the traffic I'm getting.  I'm used to getting maybe 12 likes in the DAZ gallery.laugh But I'm getting some really good traffic (for a newbee) and very nice comments.  Takes work though.

When I voted the other day,  your comic was #224,  and i just checked,  and it has already risen to #219.  There are something like 13,000 comics listed based on new to the list entries,  so that's a very impressive accomplishment.  It's a good story and it is good to see that merit rises.

    Thanks so much for voting!
But I have to confess that the majority of those votes are mine.  They let you vote every 24 hours and in fact encourage you to do so.  So I vote at least twice a day (from different networks) in an effort to increase my visibility.  But it gets to be a struggle when you get into the 200's because whenever a comic is voted into a higher level you get knocked down a notch or two.  After voting this morning I was briefly at #218 but now am back to #219 and will probably sink lower over the course of the day.  It's like a salmon swimming upstream.

But I know others are voting for my comic, and for them I am eternally grateful.  Thanks again!laugh

Okay I'm now really curious how this interview is going to go! surprise And also curious how many chapters there will be in this Charlotte's Magic Life title before I can relax knowing Charlotte and Kurt are going to be okay... wink I don't do well with suspense... blush

David, maybe consider putting the topwebcomics link in your signature or also in your 'about' box on your site, at the end of each chapter on your site. It'd be easier then to drop a vote whenever we're reading a chapter. This week, I went to vote a couple of times from searching for the link on Discord, which can be tricky... Lol.

The best way to get to it in topwebcomics is to go to "New to the List" in the menu bar, then click on the "Real Life" icon.  You can also scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and enter "Charlotte" in the "comic search box.

But I did add a "Vote for Us!" link to the menu that takes you right to the voting gateway, and I'm going to add a similar link to the end of the chapters because that's a good idea! laugh

    Thanks for voting, Blue!heart

Chapter 15 is up.  What kind of impression do you think Charlotte left on Lieutenant Nichols?

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy!

It's up! And that 'vote' button was super handy! yes Tried leaving a comment on the site itself this time and I don't think I broke anything. laugh

Neat chapter with great expressions that is once more building up the suspense. surprise I generally think detectives interact with so many people focusing on getting information that they're pretty good at quickly taking their measure. I'm sure Lt Nichols already his suspicions...

That family photo on the wall! smiley

We can feel her stress and insecurity.  It will be interesting to see what happens next. Kurt is appropriately supportive,  but things can sometimes spiral out of control even for people "who have done nothing wrong".

Just checked the topweb standings, Up to #170.

Interestingly, I've gotten some pushback from women readers who say Kurt's attitude was too unserious and insensitive, that the mop gag was out of line, or that he should have just shut up and listened. And it's the old dichotomy of how men and women approach problems.  Men want solutions, women want hugs. Interesting that I struck that nerve.  I just approached it totally from the male perspective.
