To get the right angles, couldn't you just parent everything except the camera to the mirror, then scale the mirror by -100% on the appropriate axis?

That might work, though I worry it might turn everything inside out...will have to test that soon.

I had to see if I could make a male counterpart to Nirvana's Zero. The morph works well on the male anime base.

Hehe. Nice! We could amost call it Anime Studio 3D at this point.

  • anyone know a way to make skin look wet in with filatoon shaders? would it be through geoshells? I haven't seen any products that do what I want thus far.

After applying the Filatoon shader preset you can try increasing the Glossy Layered Weight, Glossy Reflectivity, and Glossy Roughness in the Surfaces Tab.

Depends on what you want to achieve. From just playing around:

    1) If you just need a hard highlight, under the Surfaces tab set both Glossy Layered Weight and Glossy Reflectivity to 1.00 (start at 1.00 and adjust down if needed), then use Glossy Roughness/Specular Threshold/Specular Smooth to adjust the size and hardness of the highlights.

    2) You can also get a reflection of the environment map/HDRI by also increasing the Environment Weight. You can then go into the Environment Options and adjust the Dome Rotation to position the HDRI's lights. An Environment Weight of .2-.28 gave me a glossy skin look. Any lights in the scene will also reflect because of the Glossy Layered Weight/Glossy Reflectivity.

I used geometry shells from Wet and Tanned for Genesis 9 in this render.

    That looks very nice, @TheNathanParable

I did not know, that geometry shells looks so nice in FilaToon.

It really depends on the textures and settings, you'll have to do some tweaking to get it to look right. If you don't mind manually tweaking stuff, it's worth it.

  • Thanks everyone! I will try out these tips and report back

Some more love to older assets with Filatoon. This is Mila for Aiko 3 with Parkside Heath (mixed with another environment).

    And Genesis 1.

Totally agree. @Diva is still the best!

And I love that the oldest 3DL assets are being shown to be still relevant.

Nice! I was wondering when someone was gonna take a crack at doing a Aiko or Hiro 3 render with it.

  • ArtiniArtini Posts: 9,513

Yes, looks great. I think 3DL assets are pretty easy to convert to FilaToon.

Well, there are definitely fewer extra maps to strip out of them when doing it by brute force.

Install the latest version of DS default resources to have the filatoon shader.

If you want the toon G9 figures too, install the latest version of G9 starter essentials (there are now 3 parts, so 1 and 2 will likely be listed as updates and 3 as a new file in DIM). You don't need it to use filatoon on other figures though.

Filatoon has me paying close attention to what hair models end up being given away in the weekly freebies, as older hair is less complex and more friendly to Filament and by extention filatoon.

Has anyone tried https://www.daz3d.com/glass-for-filament? The blurb says:

"Glass for Filament is a collection of glass shaders optimized for the filament render engine, ranging from dirty, textured, and plain reflective glass. Color variations are also included."

I just ran across it in my runtime. Unfortunately I am on one of my Macs and can't test it as filament and filatoon doesn't work on them.

Spotlights with bigger value in Spread Angle can make shadows softer...
