I do feel really stupid even having to ask this but...how do we even download the current release? I can only find the companion files (default ressources, scene builder etc.)  in my content library but no the installer itself? I don't use Install Manager so I am really wondering if I'm having some sort of brain fart...

It should be available in your Product Library now.

When I installed Daz Studio 4.23.0.1 manually, downloading the installer from my library on this website, at the end of the process, the installer will open two web pages and one is an 'Oops' one: https://www.daz3d.com/products/ds4_thankyou

The pages are opened after I clicked on Finish:

I was working on a Windows computer.

I'm not totaly sure it's related to Genesis 9 Base Anime Feminine or not (no crash happened when I tried to create the same morph using Genesis 9 Base, though), but each time I tried to export it with clothes to create a morph in Hexagon, Daz 4.23.0.1 crashed once everything was loaded in Hexagon, even when the figure and the clothes were the only items in the scene.

Could you please provide a simple example with steps to replicate, so that I can try to reproduce the issue.

    Thank you.

    Here is what I did:

Daz Studio 4.23.0.1 crashed each time once Hexagon finished loading the data Daz sent:

    DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\dzcore.dll" at 0033:00000000840048C0, DzFacetMesh::getNumTopologySets()

(I saved one of the crash report)

I also tested with other clothes (dForce CHB Pleated Pants Outfit for Genesis 9 and 8 Female) with the same outcome (Daz crashed) and yesterday, I used the Witch outfit with Genesis 9 and no crash happened.

This morning, I used 'G9 Anime Base Feminine Dev Load' in place of 'Genesis 9 Base Anime Feminine' and no crash happened.

Confirmed. Just sending  Genesis 9 Base Anime Feminine/Masculine is enough.

    Please submit a bug report.

My ticket is written, but I have a question before submitting it: the bug tracking system does not currently have Daz 4.23 as a possible application.

Do I wait for an update of the bug tracker or do I submit my request now, with Daz 4.22 as the application and the correct application number in the next field ?

Just note in the text, and ideally in the topic/title, which version it was.

Hello, I have a question, through the DIM, it seems like I had installed DAZ 4.23 at April, but when opened DAZ, it just shows 4.22, no where to see that I have the 4.23, and there is a yellow mark on the 4.23 in DIM, are these all right?

While you are working online, as you are here (Ready To Download tab is not disabled) the label displayed will be the current one, the 1 item in Ready To Download is likely to be the new version itself.

  • functionfunction Posts: 283

Actually that 1 item ready for download is GoZ, which shows as update. Let the main DAZ software Online is no use, still 4.22, have opened and closed DAZ many times, no difference.

Should I uninstall that 'DAZ Studio 4.23 - 2024/4/5' in the DIM and reinstall it? But I'm afraid my Scripts and Favorites gone in the menu after uninstall, that will be a huge lost...

How are you launching DS? Are you sure it isn't pointing to an old installation of 4.22.x.x?

  • functionfunction Posts: 283

I went directly to the DAZStudio.exe link as shown in the 1st picture, I only have this one version installed in my Win10 PC.

The problem is, in the DIM - Ready to Download didn't show 4.23 so that I can not install it again. I remember that I have installed 4.22 earlier this year and never installed 4.23, but the DIM shows I had installed 4.23 so that it doesn't give me chance to download the 4.23 now.

Uncheck your hidden files and see if it is there. You may have inadvertently hidden it.

    Unchecked, but same.

  • I needed to know if it is possible to have the My Daz libery and Daz3DIM files on an external hard drive. I have to free up space on my computer's hard drive because Daz product files take up a lot of disk space.

You were answered in both of your previous therads, which have now been merged https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/705246/daz-studio-and-daz-3dim-folders

Is there a way for me to roll back to 4.22?

On 4.22 I managed to rendered Image Series with 100 Images and more without any problems, in 4.23 it crashes after 10 to 20 frames or so. I tested this with various different scenes that made no problems before.

If you don't have a backup copy of 4.22 install files, you can try contacting Daz support to see if they can provide you with one (there's no guarantee they will though).

Thx, I will try. I was stupid to not create a backup.

I became somewhat naive, because all earlier updates went without any problems for me.

my 4.23 is also giving me grief rendering animations

it builds up VRAM as it goes and between 200 and 300 frames will max out my card so I have to break my image series down into 200 frame chunks

    this is ridiclous

200-300 frames of animation is pathetic, most of mine 900-1800 at a time

its starts off mid 6GB VRAM and hits over 11GB before stopping and then holds onto over 8GB doing nothing in bounding box view

If Iray fails it dos usually hold on to memory until the application restarts, so that part is not surprising given the preceeding events.

it doesn't appear to be scene related either

this was 3 furred housecats but it also did it with just a 3 walled room and a cat tree (midground scene) and also the outside background of a couple of trees, a billboard and a HDRi, both those scenes around 3GB initially

the full scene with cats, human, setee even fits on the card and lasted 115 frames, I broke it down into 4 layers to try and save memory to no avail

I am wondering if it's D|S or the newest Nvidia studio driver 565.90

rolling back my driver is something I am considering as trying D|S 4.11 on a simpler scene did it too

showing scene breakdown, deleted camera movement section components so cannot show the far background but you see it in the BG image for frame 300

the man scene has an advanced iray matt cube for the setee with the man, the background is the first image

  • I can confirm, if you have the "an illegal memory access was encountered" error with Iray, revert back to the previous studio driver... the newest one, which funnily released right when I did the DAZ Update, was the culprit, not DAZ itself.

  • WendyLuvsCatzWendyLuvsCatz Posts: 38,220

yes it's the driver, rolled back to 561.09 and it all rendered in 2 hours and 45 minutes to completion 657 frames

I wish Daz would either release a Linux version, or just make the code open source so others could do it. When I first used Daz I still used Windows as my main OS, but that changed three years ago. Now I only boot into Windows for Daz (everything else works in Linux), which means I hardly ever use it (and never buy anything from the store any more). If Daz code was released others would make it work on Linux for you!

What about the closed-source modules - 3Delight, Iray, OptiTex, Decimator, and various plug-ins at least.
