Well done,  simple yet makes you want to go out a buy the unique character.

Thanks! He's a good addition to the character pool.

Okay, this has been irritating me forever, and I keep forgetting to ask about it. How do we do our text as line by line without the paragraph beginnings, which insert a line between each line?  I know I can go into Source and take out the < p > and < / p> and and do the  < br > instead, but isn't there an easier way? I want to do a list for you and this is a paint in the booty.  I don't want dots or numbers for lists either, but I may have to settle for dots. Grrrrrrr!!

Okay, have a surprise for you. Took me a week, but I've finally got it done. We always say "I don't remember if this has been done..." so I went through all 78 pages and did links to all the characters we've rendered!  Because we still have more to do in this thread, and to keep it easy to find, I started a new thread so we can index our work easier and get a character renders database going, so to speak.

This isn't confined to this thread, if you have characters rendered in your threads or in the forums/gallery, consider posting a link to your render so we can consolidate in one thread the location of each character/figure. You can also post the images directly in that thread and I'll add them to the index. I am going to continue posting mine here and mentioning them on the other thread, nothing has changed regarding you posting images here (unless you'd rather post on that thread.)

The number of links was too long to put in one post (first time ever I got a message saying too many characters!) so a new thread was needed anyway. I hope it is a handy reference for you.

Have fun, I hope this helps!

So, here's FWSA Adaline HD wearing Abigail Outfit  (featured many times) and Casino Hair (Gen3F). So I'll add her to our "now-we've-done-it" list. :)

Going to keep these simple with a plain background and the same light setup and just tweak it based on the character's skin. That way I can fill in the gaps of what hasn't been rendered yet. (And there's a lot!)

    FWSA Alysa HD (G3F)         Adventure Outfit (G3F)      Tulip Hair (Gen2F / Gen3F)

I like all the morphs on the hair, but couldn't find the one that made the center part fit to the scalp. There's 120 morphs so I may have just missed it- although I looked more than once.  I had to go into Scene and break it down all the way to HEAD to get to Scale. Kudos to the vendor for the extra effort on morphs!

Amandla (Teen Josie 7)        Brady Hair (Gen3F)          Aerial Dancer Outfit (Gen3F)

I'd featured the Aerial Dancer Outfit before, so not focusing on that, but do take a look at the variety of materials that outfit has. It's just darling!

Amandla (Teen Josie 7)        Leyton Hair       River Willow for Genesis 3 Female(s)

I have Amandla. Here is a version of her with the High Translucency option turned on and some makeup on eyes and lips. Her fingernails don't look the right color to me, unless they are supposed to be polished. There are no fingernail options in the Amandla product. The hair is Leyton Hair, but I changed the surface settings, because the brown looked a little washed out to me. The outfit is River Willow for Genesis 3 Female with no modifications. I hope it isn't too skimpy for you, Novica.

LOL, heavens no. The things I don't like are thong-hineys and size 65 busts squeezed into size 4 swimsuits. I'll add yours over in the Character index. Love it!

Okay, trust me on this. SereneNight and I used to use this all the time waaaay back in thread 2 or 3 IIRC- you want to scoop this up to use for backdrops if you don't have one of the Studio products that have CURVED backgrounds so the wall and floor are one piece. Rocks 'N Drops.  I don't know if you have to apply UberBase for Iray renders to look good, I did just out of habit- but look at the variety you get with that. There's also the Bundle.  I will do a quickie and show you.

On sale right now too. 60%.

One of my favorite go to backgrounds for charter renders!  Worth every penny. And you can add your own textures to the backgrounds as well.  And it renders just fine in iray with no adjustments.

Here's a fast one for you.  FWSA Mina HD for Arabella 7

You'll be able to just click and change up backdrops easily. Love that product! This is Iray rendered and it gives a good background- I did not Uber Base this one so there are some splotches.

    Happy Black Friday!

I went to Petsmart as my annual tradition- I have to have cat litter, cat food, dog food, so might as well get a good deal. Well, I noticed a lady loaded up with dog food (40lb bags) and jokingly said to the cashier- "Well, she got a good deal." The cashier said she was an employee and knew prices- and told me the deal. The Purina ProPlan is discounted $12 for the 40 pound bag-   BUT you get a $10 off in your receipt for your next purchase of dog/cat food, so you end up getting the next bag for $22 off. (Remember, a 40 lb bag!) They let you do that as many times as you want, will ring up each as a separate transaction. So nice of them to do that!

So my Black Friday was dog food. Practical. So exciting, right?

Sounds good to me! Always nice to get a good deal- even outside of 3D land!

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Well, I'm blaming my neighbor for our second run out the door. She got an adorable dog bed (the ones that are 49.95 at Walmart and about 59.95-69.95 at Petsmart) at TJMax for $19.99- and those are NOT ON SALE. So if you folks have dogs, remember to shop there first for dog beds. They are the bumper beds (the wonderful padding all the way around, like mini walls) and even Serta (posture pedic, whatever) with zipped covers so you can wash them. Wow. I never thought to shop at TJMax for dog beds.

So what are you guys buying from Daz? I did get the Rain product but haven't used it yet. Anyone rendered that?

Not yet, it's on my wishlist, as the PC+ sale left me pretty well spent (ha ha.) I did pick up some more recent Arki clothing (Eagle Guard and Calla stuff) because the prices were fantastic when you buy Stonemason's Winter Castle. I think paid only $3 or $4 each for them

I also finally got Caleb for M4 and Genesis ($4). I can't wait to render him. He's an older figure but very well done. This older thread on him has some great renders.

I also picked up a few older hairs I've been wanting (Elven Prince, Winter Princess, Kerkyra and a few others for $2-$4.) Picked up a few pose collections for around $1 each, DM's Grand Hall ($2), DAZ Horse 2 Pro ($4) and the Sushmita Bundle ($5). I didn't like some of the promo pics for that. I'm hoping the products look better in different lighting. If I get a chance, I'll throw together some renders this weekend.

As far as spending, I'm tapped out. Unless some truly amazing sale comes along I'm saving my pennies for Christmas and whenever Darwin gets Parker for Lucian out. Whichever comes first!

What pose is that? She looks like she's saying, "Who, me?"

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Is there a way to tell a pose's origin? Mina was one I did awhile ago in a scene, but not a closeup, so I rendered her. I can't find that pose. However, for the face: In Parameters in the Pose Controls>Head>Expressions, it was Haley Happy 39.8% (I really like Haley expressions), Haley Open Smile 2.1%, Happy 71.8%

Pose sets that have good standing positions plus a variety of movement/sitting/laying that come to mind are DA Confident Poses for Gia (Which I used Alysa)  and for a bit more elegant, DM's Sensual Grace  But if I can find that post, I will @ you and post it for you. Normally I rename the character in Scene and add the pose set so I won't forget, and this is one of the times I didn't. (Of course.)

Iray Rain      Autumn Rain for Genesis 2 Female(s)     Molto Bello

Here is the Iray Rain product. This is my first render with it. I can't say that I have mastered it yet. It was slow to render. I stopped this one after about 35 minutes. It was only about 30% converged, but it looked good enough to me. The jacket and pants are from Autumn Rain for Genesis 2 Females, autofit to Genesis 3 Female and textured with Mec4D latex and plastic shaders from her volume  1 and volume 2 PBS shaders. I'm not sure why I bothered to autofit to G3F, when you can't see any of the character. It seems like I should have just used G2F. Anyway, it autofit well. (Autumn Rain is a Dogz product, which I always have excellent luck with.)

LOL Barbult, that goes back to our discussion of "ever done a DUH?" and we discussed posing meticulously but then when we did the camera, it didn't show, or having the camera set up then moving it to pose, etc, etc...I completely "get" doing something you didn't need to bother with!

That looks very good IMO- if that's an early attempt, I can't wait to see how you evolve with it! Thanks for sharing, love it!!!!!

I'm going through my characters for the character index thread, and am going back to Thread 6. Interesting- those of you who have Pai Mei Character and Clothing for Hitomi, be glad you do because it's not in the store anymore. Wonder why. I bought it June 2013. Want to see her? Here's the showcase post.
