Congrats on the book launch, and welcome back.
Aw, I'm so sorry about your fur baby. It's not easy- we still miss our other Shepard. He passed away around seven years ago, but we still accidentally call our Shepard now by the first one's names sometimes.
L'Adair -
I'm slowly catching up with threads. I seem to have missed a lot in some threads. Looks like some others might have gone on vacation for a short bit too. The new book is doing great. It's made enough to allow me to splurge a little on a few new Daz toys. It's holding in the top 20 of one category and keeps popping in and out of the top 100 in two others. It's not a huge amount of money but enough to justify sticking with it and writing more books in the niche. I'm having fun with it and working on book 2. I guess the downside is that I'll have to start estimating taxes as a self-employed person soon. I've deducted all my expenses this year so far and I've made enough of a profit that the government is going to want their share. I guess that's a good place to be.
@Mollytabby
I miss her. I have to believe it is better that she isn't in any pain anymore. For an older dog, it was mercifully quick from the beginning of the illness to the end. Her brother really misses her. He has been extra affectionate with everyone in the house and doesn't like being alone. It's getting better for him though. For the moment, he seems to be in good health. They were from the same litter so he is also an older dog. We're just enjoying whatever time we might have left with him.
@Diomede Thanks! It's good to be back.
@DarwinsMishap Thanks. Yes, it is always hard to lose a pet. You go in knowing their lifespans are shorter, but it doesn't make it any easier to let them go when the time comes. I've had a lot of pets throughout my life and I have lots of good memories of each one.
Love this dog render don't know how I missed it! And welcome back!
So, I've been playing around when I should have been working. I'm never completely happy with my post work. It's always a work in progress learning the skills I need to get better at it. I picked up Colorwerks by @Slosh the other day. He did a fantastic job with the new hair color product. The character is CB Esme by @CinderBlue. I'm not sure if CB is on the forums or not. I don't have very many of this vendor's products, but I love the Dollhouse Collection and I have all of them. This is the first chance I've had to render Esme since I picked her up last month. She's beautiful and has some really nice makeup options.
Now, I have to go back to work and get some words written.

That looks amazing, Knit!! I like the diachromatic look you went for. Very dramatic
@Slosh Thanks! Yeah, I really like how it turned out. Love the new Colorwerks BTW! I'm really going to have fun with that. :)
I'm still having fun with Slosh's new Colorwerks product.

Edit to add: I forgot to mention this is Keisha for Genesis 3 Female. She's a lovely figure.
Dig the lighting on this one, KM - great job!

@algovincian Thanks, Greg. I used BOSS lights as a starting place. However, I moved lights, turned lights on and off, and modified some of the settings until I got something I liked. I love that I can load the main lighting set up and then just play around for a while. :)
I'm not great at comics but I try. I thought I'd have a little fun with Brandon from the Dwayne 8 pro bundle.

Hah! I love it. What fun render!
Trish
Thanks, @Stormlyght! :)
I've collected quite a few ladies by Mousso that I haven't rendered yet. I figured I should do some renders when I'm not writing. Hopefully, I can do them justice. Mousso has some really unique and lovely ladies. One nice thing about doing simple portraits is I can set them up fairly quickly and then just let them render until done. The longest part of this one was doing the hair with Colorwerks by @Slosh and doing the textures with a product by the Queen of Texture's products aka @DestinysGarden. So, not long at all.

Love the last one, the colors really work well together and the lighting is great!
The Toon Chippendale is super cute! I happen to have a fondness for Brandon's since that's my son's name lol.
I really like the dramatic lighting on Keisha as well
Glad to see you back rendering!
Nice color combination, great lighting.
Thanks, @IceDragonArt. It's nice to be rendering again. It won't be consistent like you do because my focus isn't completely in the rendering like it was. I have two more deadlines with my writing coming up and then I can take a short break and maybe learn a few new post work techniques then. In the meantime, it's just some simple renders set up for the next couple of months.
Thanks, @dracorn! I love playing with color and lights and shadows. Makes me happy. :)
I love the colour work on this @Knittingmommy, and always your lighting is awesome!
Got to agree, Emery is looking good with those colours and lights.
@Mollytabby and @Noswen Thanks, guys! I'm glad you liked it. I had a lot of fun setting it up.
Haha its a bonus for me though because I love your stories and your renders. Win win for me lol.
Yeah, I guess that's true. You're one of the few who knows what I'm writing so you actually get to read my stuff. :)
I'm taking Comic Book webinar that DigitalArtLive and Griffen Avid are doing. I've learned a lot so far. Doing comics is something I've gotten interested in since my foray into NPR type images. As always, I blame that on @algovincian. He's such an inspiration in the NPR department.
Anyway, I thought I'd show off my homework from the first week. We were supposed to create a comic without word balloons and then do a version with word balloons showing to get an idea how a comic can mean one thing without the text and another with the text. I don't think I got it exactly. But, this was my feeble attempt.
I think you hit the nail on the head with that comic meaning one thing then the text meaning abnother KM!!
I respectfully disagree with your assessment of a "feeble" attempt. I think you did a wonderful start to your comic
Trish
I think you did a great job on the comic. Not feeble at all!
Wow! Really great work @Knittingmommy
I love the style
Fantastic work!
@Saphirewild Thanks, Saph. I hoped so but wasn't sure.
@Stormlyght Lol. Okay, maybe 'feeble' was a bad word choice. Thanks, Trish. :)
@IceDragonArt Thanks, Sonja. I'm glad you liked it.
@Mollytabby Thank you very much. You know style is always evolving. I like playing with it and seeing what I can do. I like the look of this one, too. I need to figure out if I can do it consistently.
@TabascoJack Thanks. I am actually very proud of her. There is a lot I did right in this image. I think I did the eyes really well in this one. Best I've ever done with them so far.
Always thought that facial expressions one of the most important things in comics, and most difficult in DS. The expressions are excellent in your comic! Hope to see more . . .
