:checks definition: So I guess the sexy android cop I'm currently working on will be okay, then? But just in case, I'll throw his been-around-the-block-but-still-a-studmuffin human partner into the mix too. One can never have enough hot males, not to mention hot male gear. ;-)

Taking a Break - Carrara Render (don't laugh its only the second one I have ever done in Carrara lol). The repurposed female item is the jungle skirt (loincloth) for Genesis 2 female. I might try and figure out how to make grass and add some of that to make the ground look more realistic.  Maybe lol.

  • Ice Dragon Art Don't forget to add your screenshot of your scene file in Carrara to qualify for a chance at the Carrara prize.  Who's laughing?  Not bad for your second ever render in Carrara.  :)

I am replacing the first image I posted with this one. I marked the other one NAE. Let me know if I need to do anything else.

  • @KevinH  I haven't gone through and counted to make sure everyone has the right number of entries, yet, but you do know you can enter up to 3 images, don't you?  Just wanted to make sure you knew that.  Nice image, btw.  :)

Oh, this one is good. Did you use that rainy day product? I am tempted to buy it. He needs to look more like he is sitting firmly on the ground if you can get him to do that without sinking his feet below the surface.

Meeting of the SnowMen:  Three legs amongst them.

    1st Entry

I now have a Snowman 1.0 and Snowman 2.0 which now has legs  for which I made the cutout for the other day and re-shaped today.  Upon first render there was too much shadow on the legs so I also added a bulb light, set at 25%, to shine only on the inner legs and the road. Scene below is Howies Snow Scene, comes with Carrara, all I've added are the Snowmen and my "WGD" signature which is a font that I created long ago and now use for a Carrara font object.  I find it easier to have the font object and change the shader for it rather than in PostWork since I don't tweak any of my renders in post.

Thanks, @knittingmommy. I had 3 images. This would have been the forth.

Thanks, @nonesuch00. I did the rain in Photoshop. I have been tempted to buy the rain product in the store, but if it is geometry I figured it would take too long to render. You're right, I probably should have brought his knees closer to the ground. Or at least bent the one leg to flatten it more. But over all I'm pleased with how it came out.

Sorry, what I meant was his behind doesn't look to me as if is on the ground, but it might be, it is hard to tell, but you are right, I like that render very much too.

Kevin, Very good indeed.  Except of course for the legs. He looks to me to be sitting atop a wall with his legs dangling over the side.

Entry #2 A Modern Day Hamlet (nothing repurposed) (image updated 12-3-16)

per @Philopp's suggestion, I added another light source, so his face is clearer and changed out the skull for one more detailed. I updated the attachment in my original post.

I guess it is just the angle. I went back into Studio and I checked him from the fron and the left and he butt and his feet are all touching the ground. I knew I had looked at him from the front, but I couldn't recall if I had checked the left or right. But apparantly I did.

I've updated my WIP posted yesterday with a final qualifying, ??, version. Please let me know if there is anything I need to add. I'm thinking that it may still need some clothing artical or accessory.  See my final, hopefully,  for  entry Above.

Hi John, saw your post in Carrara contest forum. Where is the WIP thread for Raining Men and can I enter my Carrara one here? My only repurposed item was PhilW's Adrea Hair, everything else is male, eg...loincloths.  yesSilene

  • @SileneUK  There isn't really a WIP thread.  I've been following the Carrara WIP thread.  Love your cavemen image.  When you are done with it, just enter it here.  Diomede changed the rules of the Carrara contest to allow for entering in both contests.  When you are finished with your image, just attach a copy of your image here in a post along with a screenshot of your scene in Carrara to qualify for a chance at the special Carrara prize.  Images don't need a RePurposed item to enter.  Images with RePurposed items are also entered into the RePurposed categories.  Just state what your RePurposed item was in your post.  Just follow the rules on page 1 and you should be good.

Here is a change of pace.  Hope you enjoy a little bit of silly.  This fella is tilting at windmills - well, modern windmills.  Oh, and he is not tilting, he is challenging to a duel.  And he is not dueling the modern way, but the 19th century old west romantic way.  No, he is not from LaMancha.  He is from Laredo.

Part of the Carrara anachronistic challenge cross-over.

EDIT:  I deleted the old entry and replaced with an entry that I adjusted with the texture filter in PS.  This should also satisfy the timing issue of the two challenges as I am posting the filtered version here first.

Sorry to be a pain but rule 3

    3.  Please submit your entries here to the Entry thread with an attached file for voting purposes.  We do need the attachments to compile the voting thread.  In the spirit of the contest, please post your entries here before entering other DAZ contests.  Entries can be submitted to other DAZ contests once they have been entered here as long as it isn't expressly prohibited by the other contest.  Yes, you can post to your DAZ Gallery.

It states that you need to enter them here first if its already been entered elsewhere first isn't that breaking the rule?

Hi Silene.  If the timing sequence is an issue, just delete your current image from the Carrara entry thread.  Then submit here.  Then sometime between now and the 10th submit a final render to the Carrara entry thread.  In terms of spirit and letter of the rules, neither challenge has reached its deadline and both challenges permit people to update their entries up until the deadline.  I think that strategy would comply with both the spirit and letter of the rules of both without forcing Knittingmommy to get lawyerly.

Thanks for the opportunity, Knittingmommy!  yes

Part of the Carrara anachronistic challenge cross-over.   PhilW's Adrea Hair  although technically unisex, it was repurposed and fitted to these foolish Neanderthal hunters thick heads.

Yes, this.  One of the reasons for that rule was to make sure that the images entered were new when the contest popped up the first year.  I know the images done in the Carrara challenge are new because I've been keeping tabs on the contest.  When the question was raised about entering here or putting images up in the gallery first, my view was I wasn't going to get picky if the times overlapped just a bit.  The main idea is that the images entered into the contest are new.  They don't have to be made specifically for the contest.

Hopefully, we can swing it so this contest becomes an annual event.  If that happens, the rules will evolve and change a bit based on feedback I've gotten from this year's contest.

Don't forget I do still need your entry as an attachment, too.  That helps me when I go back through and round up all of the entries for judging.  You can just attach it to your post.  Thanks.

quick question: I just finished a cool male render for a promo for a product already out, and was wondering if it would still qualify as an entry?  If I could, I would be posting, here, the signature only version (there is no watermark on that one). It is new, and isn't entered into another contest, but if I have to choose, it would have to remain a promo.  If it can't be a part of the contest, I'll still post it here, but just for show.  thanks in advance - I'm loving this contest :D

  • @Saidge  Is the promo for a product here or is it on a site other than DAZ?  At the moment, all entries are supposed to stay on the DAZ site for the duration of the contest.  It has been requested that this be taken under consideration to modify for next year, but, currently, entries should only be viewable only on the DAZ site.  I know you do promos for vendors on other sites so I wasn't sure where this one was going.  If the promo is for something available here, I'm okay with that.  If it is slated for another site before the contest ends, you may want to keep it as a promo.  I hope that helps answer your question.

It does, thanks.  It's for MortemVetus, and it's an older product that is now available elsewhere, Godwin.  That's what I thought you were going to say, but I figured I would check first, just in case.  Thanks so much for getting back to me, and I will post it here NAE once the promo event album is released!
