Wow those star renders are looking great so far!!
I am already working on my render and should be done sometime this weekend I hope!!
SimonJM - nice render shame about the poor birds !
xmasrose (aka tulipe) - great use of new Daz G8 figures ! Love the drama...
Llola Lane - wow that was close there was nearly a crash at that crossroads ! Nice road arrows...
bigh - what a beautiful star !
deeleelaw57 - great use of the star as a badge of office and wonderful broken pane !
Selina
This is my quick submission...
..it's not great this month as I modelled the star in Hexagon (3rd attempt - still not happy with it), Boned and weight painted it (and I'm still trying to get my head around how to do this efficiently - I believe it might be easier in DS, but I don't know DS at all except how to open it - LOL) and rendered it in Carrara with Starbright plugin background.
Selina
hi star - wave back
thank you
Thank you all for your comments.
Selina, I'm not sure what would make you happy about your star, maybe a pair of blinking eyes with big eyelashes and a smile or maybe one big blinking eye with a big eyelash and a smile, a cycloptic star..
As for me I think it looks great as it is. The shape, texture, shadowing and smooth movment of the limbs are very well done.
Oh yea, as long as we're on the subject, don't forget to smile.
Thanks bigh and deeleelaw57 for your encouragement!
deeleelaw57, here's why I'm still not happy with it:
Perhaps I'm expecting too much for my second attempt at 'skinning' - I'm OK with boning hard geometric shapes - but weight mapping/painting/skinning is something else!
Selina
Well Salina only you know what you want, but to me it still looked mighty good. Your number 1 reason does make sense, you want a curvy, shapely soft girl star ... um mm... I mean toy star. As for skinning and boning, the only time I saw that was when pop got back from rabbit hunting. I watched, got sick called pop a few choice names in the language of a ten year old and swore I would never harm an animal. I then ran into the house and hugged my pet bunny so tight I almost strangled him. I blamed it on pop, so did mom.
Thanks deeleelaw57, this is more like it - a new model made in Carrara (attempt no 4 using a different approach...)
With regard to better skinning - I've splashed out on a book to have a good read and will revisit the subject when I've digested enough to know what constitues 'good practice.' I also watched a few videos from the nukeygara akeytsu website on this subject as their software deals exclusively with the subject - but the presenter just skims over the details I want to understand like WHERE to place the bones and how to weight paint for smoother mesh morphing - I certainly wasn't impressed with the directive to 'play around [...] and figure out what works best'
Selina
@Selina I really like your star. It gives that cute feeling and while waving at your star I don't see her drawbacks. Love is blind! But I understand you want to make what you envisioned and want to make the best possible. I am the same way but you're way ahead of me.
..For those that would like to know, I've posted my step-by-step over on the Hexagon Forum on how I created my stars using two distinct methods https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/269461/building-a-star-how-would-you-do-it
If you know of a better way (other than buy a pro's offering), please feel free to contribute.
Selina
Thanks xmasrose (aka tulipe) for your kind words - but I asure you I'm not way ahead of anybody I'm just messing around to see what I can come up with in a vain attempt to 'learn' something and keep my brain active while I still can - LOL !
Selina
many nice stars so far
I think this month its fitting with the star theme to "aim for the stars...",thats great to see you do that
Those are very nice words of encouragement mach25 - thank you very much
oh my Dee... The ladies are the real 'star' of that artwork ;) ... thanks for sharing!
<--waaaaaaaaaaves to Selina... THANK YOU for sharing your artwork. WOW... I'm so jealous of anyone that can do animation. One of these dayzzzzzzzzz... ;)
Yayyyy.. I'm posting before the last of the month... LOL
Enjoy....
"A STAR is Born!"
.
An idea well hatched and well done Llola Lane.
Thanks Dee.. I guess I'm showing my age.. I thought I was being clever with the movie title "A Star is Born" with Barbara Streisand.. It was the first thing that popped into my head... LOL
thats a great pic Llola Lane and the shell makes it survive baby shower and happy birthday Star
and I want to admit I am envious of stars lifespan,10 billion of years our Sun,some even more than 1000 billion year
@Llola Lane what a clever idea! Great image!
star egg is like a Easter egg in summer
It was and is a clever idea, unfortunately not everyone is a Streisand fan. Much to my dismay I am a huge fan and I totally missed the reference. Shame on me. Your good, my bad. None the less it is a wonderful render and kudos for thinking outside the box.
Thank you everyone... So fun to hear you'all's take on my star. :) I am enjoying all the comments. Hugzzzzzz!
Dancing stars, hatching stars and STARS I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of :D
Let's see if I can spawn a starry image before the end of the month.
Look! A star! It's very shap and I'm not sure Rhizhu can resist throwing it in a (presumably) random direction to see how far it goes. So best be careful. Just in case.
Now that's one way to get your point across, well done mori_mann, love the eyes.
The temps have cooled down a bit, just into the high 80's (F). Sadly, it's due in large part to a high layer of smoke from multiple wild fires… Anyway, I think I may fire up the beast today, first time this month, just so I can work on a "star" render.
I love what you guys have already come up with, especially the "A Star is Born" reference. (The original movie was in 1937, and has been remade three time!)
looks great, was also thinking of make handheld star, look my avatar
thats nice to see I was not the only one choosed to bevel a star
Thanks everyone for the comments about Booby Trap. Theseus is indeed fortunate Goldberry was there. Officially she is not supposed to be with the Quest at all, and if the fae 'powers that be' ever catch up with her she'll be in trouble...
@Linwelly Absolutely love this! The whole idea of techno-fae is great, more please! I hope her array pointer != NULL;
@isidorn Skyrim Adventurer Ouch! But YAY! Ducky is back.
@L'Adair Brothers I'm impressed by your skillful posing of the two boys.
@SimonJM Not that bad an idea. Possibly duck for dinner.
@xmasrose (aka tulipe) Cupid's arrows, where would we be without them? Very expressive posing and I like the positioning of the rose between them.
@Llola Lane I like the composition and depth of field you have used here.
@bigh Beautiful.
@deeleelaw57 S.T.A.R.S. This is excellent. It looks to me like a freeze frame from a sixties TV spy series intro.
@Selina Your animated star seems to have disappeared?
@Llola Lane "A STAR is Born!" Lovely render but now I'm wondering; which came first the star or the egg?
@mori_mann Rhizhu does look like the type who seldom resists temptation.
Now I'm going to try uploading my own star.
