    oh em gee

    losing my mind

    thought my carrara was borked cuz i couldn't add a runtime folder,

    doh i wasn't in the content tab.

    what i had to go thru to get carrara running at day job.  had to submit every mcx dll for cyber security approval.
    apparently there no trusted publisher cert 

    i haz to get cyber approval for every plugin mcx, not easy these days

    Seeing why the old gensis character morphs had alt yvs. Some face morphs blur the face textures doesnt work for closeups. Ughh

    the Hardwares of nodes?

    i been doing it the silly way. need to be sensible

    what the fastest way to share 1 content lib between 2 or more pcs?

    ethernet the fastest?  dunno how laggy a node will be loading from a pc acting as file server.

    or mebbe a usb hub with pcs sharing a usb ssd drive?

    i get confused between straight thru cable or cross overs in a workgroup plugged into a switch?

    the cross over cable is like the bi-sexual cable and the straight thru is the hetero cable.

    in my networking classes the server went to the switch up port.

    but i only has workgroup grunts.

    i nervous about the flickering i heard can happen using render nodes.

    theres an i5 6-core cpu/  3 6-cores prolly cheaper than 1 xeon 18 core. dunno.

    and backing up?  blue ray dvd only 25gb.  

    torn between rendering pngs or to 4 second avi clips.  after studying avengers movies, i think the human attention span for a single shot is 4 seconds.  think my attention deficite might be 2.5 seconds. lol

    can never use blurred reflections in animation.  dohh
    was 2 min render now over 8 min and the pc fan kicked on  
    blurred reflections looks nice, but ...

    started out with a goal of 30 seconds per frame.
    trying to get used to the idea of 2 minutes per frame.

    Have you tried using Carrra's Multipass render options? You could render a Reflection pass and blur in post.

    when i try to postwork, i end up losing the z depth.

    had the same prob with my old poser renders.  

    postwork takes lotsa patience lol

    Yeah, I'm no expert but sometimes it's just easier to do things in post to save time. Couple of good threads in the forum, you've probably seen them but here are two:

    Correct way to install your G8F for Carrara character?

     

    For some reason, blended items are nt morphing with your G8F character in my setup.  I saved the blended items as support assets so I know its not that.  The items morph correctly with G8F in Daz Studio.

    Could you explain what the file folder structure should be?  I have a new fantasy / scifi freebie in the works to go with the barbarian dude G8M.  Working on the top.  Here is the current top WIP in Studio morphed to V8.

    you would need to save a version as blended weight to work with the blended weight preset.

    After you saved the original general as a product,

    convert and save it the same as you would for all the other converted clothes and hairs.
    you could save as a character preset. this creates a new duf file only. *no morphs* only rigging
    it points to the same original .dsf file (including all it's morphs and jcms),
    the bw joint info is inside the duf file.  *This assumes you saving only rigging, for one figure.

    folder structure:

    dsf
    \Content\data\your folder\ *.dsf
    \Content\data\your folder\morphs\  support morphs.dsf
    \Content\data\your folder\uvs\ 
    \Content\runtime\textures\your folder\*.png/jpg

    duf files
    \Content\people\genesis 8 female\clothes\your folder\ *.duf

      -optionally save the blended weight duf files for the beta preset to 
     \Content\people\genesis 8 carrara beta\femme trousseau\your folder\ *.duf
     \Content\people\genesis 8  beta\femme trousseau\shaders\3Delight *.duf
     \Content\people\genesis 8  beta\femme trousseau\shaders\iray *.duf

    lol or just wardrobe.  i have no idea if hommes have trousseus. remembering the luggage in joe vs volcano.


    i'm influenced by the eso in game store. 
    they have animated poses they call personalities.  seems kewl to me.
    clothes colours they put under heading of dyes
    hairs under styles parlor
     

    Carrara shaders

    i like to use the rar trick to convert compressed cbr to readable text.

    Could there be something wrong with my installation of your Genesis 8 Female character?  What are all the files and where do they go?

    Update - Started over, but for your G3F character instead of your G8F character.  Now it works.  I think there may be something wrong with how my G8F stuff is setup for your character.

    Here is the top (blended weight in Carara) on your G3F base and with the V7 morph applied.  This morphs appropriately on G3F.  Contrast with morph failure of G8F above.

    there is only a duf file and a thumbnail,  it should be under  \Content\people\genesis 8 carrara beta\
    and a plain black jpg for eye moisture opacity.

    did you transfer morphs from g8f to the clothes?

    it could be a scaling issue.  V8 embedded scaling in the body morph.  as in there isn't a separate slider for her scaling.

    tHE HD PLUG IN comes with a scaling script that may help.

    another option is to bake in the scaling in your V8 clothes morph.  not sure how baking works exactly.
