    Martin's stuff always rocks :)

Yep. Had actually  decided to take a break in buying content but the 25% gift card offer was too tempting. devil Used some of it to get some more of his stuff while on sale. Just tried the blackberries:

I love the blackberries, I did a gallery image back in June with those.  They render quickly too. @taoz  yours look good enough to eat though, mine were mainly the bushes. (Stetson LOVES blackberries, they're his favorite treat after apples.)

Just thought I'd mention that Best Buy has the Yeti (Blue) microphones on sale for their Deal of the Day. $30 off.

For me it looks likely the only thing I'll be buying in October are a few more interactive licenses for old 3DU Toon animals and the matching Cartoonized Males for G8M for the Cartoonized Females for G8F that I already bought. frown

I will try to make a good mix of male & female caricatures to post in this thread once that new Cartoonized Males product is released. He said soon.

I'm going to be trying something new. In collaboration with Digital Art Live, I'm presenting a webinar on the use of dForce on October 27 & 28. I posted a small bit about it to my dForce thread here if you want to learn more.

OK, so it's Gia and i have a good supply of realistic G8F & G8M characters so well then I'll wait. I guess I'll busy myself with a cockateil I was given. I had been talking about buying a pet parrot-type bird but then that came up for free with cage & all and so I said yes. That cockatiel though is fast approaching ancient for a cockatiel, 15 years and every bit as grouchy as Granny Clampet after Jethro cleans out the cupboards. For those of you thinking of adopting an old bird as a pet instead of the usual dog or cat well he is very easy to train after only two days, although he was already tame but neglected and bored before they decided they should give him away. So you can tame and train an old bird much more easily than an old cat or old dog but if they aren't tame that's likely up to a month of training to get them tame before you can start training on other things.

I hope so. I'm excited to have the opportunity.

@nonesuch   You'll love your tiel!!  :)   Post pictures!
@rgcincy  You'll be superb and everyone will learn a LOT.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, believe it or not, I was car shopping. Yeah, I know, I got the 2017 Nissan 370Z in July, but I didn't like the blindspot due to the really large driver's side mirror. It was like driving blind when turning to the left. They also tinted the rearview mirror AND the windows, so when it was only dusk it was dark like night and impossible to back up. It didn't come with the back cameras, so after a couiple times of backing up by opening my door and actually looking to the back, I had enough of it. So I was busy the past three days researching cars and getting one that wouldn't scare everyone else on the road when I was driving and turning blindly left LOL.

So interesting question- have you ever bought a car that you disliked  once you got it home?
I'm headed to bed, three hours of sleep and tired. TTYL. :)

  • Yes.. but for a different reason.  Years ago we bought a Ford Probe that had the engine just stop during highway driving starting about a month after we bought it.  The dealer kept taking it in, fixing something and the problem returned.  After the third time we had enough.  They offered a trade to the same model but with a $2,200 loss as it was now "a used car".  Fortunately New Jersey had recently passed a lemon law. It was a hassle, but in the end they were forced to refund our money.  We went elsewhere for the replacement, but it wasn't fun suddenly having to figure out what we wanted in short order.

I returned a vehicle. Right after my father generously bought it for me. I felt terrible    I like trucks since I like to garden, but they don’t make them smalll anymore. My old truck was a 2007 Ranger. My father generously bought me a newer model the dealer And he talked me into it but it was so huge mom could not get into the cab because I was 2 feet off the ground and it would not fit in parking spaces. It was super big and tall. I had to park it far away from other due to it hardly fitting in a space.Too much truck, I returned it and got a Toyota Sienna. It was not a truck like I wanted, but they don’t make them small any longer, at least with the van I can put my gardening stuff in the back with a liner.

I don’t like cars or vehicles with narrow or difficult to see out the back, the dealer had a hard time with me since the fashion is to make cars with narrow rear windows. I had to go to a new dealer because  I wanted something safe with rear windows I can see out of.The van has excellent visibility and is a very smooth drive.

  • I was a master tech and saw very few problems with the Sienna

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

We had a Sienna, it's a wonderful van. My sister went with Odyssey and she loved hers too. From there, it was my HHR which became my favorite vehicle because it had just as almost as much room as the Sienna with the back seats folded down and the front passenger seat reclined back (to rest lumber on the headrest.) Funny but it worked!  It became my hay-hauling car/truck for the specialty bales like pure alfalfa. (Made sure to put down garbage bags that I slit to unfold to full width. Alfalfa is sticky and messy.)

@escrandall  What a mess. I'm glad you stuck to your guns and made them do the right thing!
@serenenight   That was thoughtful of your Dad. But if it didn't work for you, it just didn't. :)

My cell phone went off like an Amber Alert about ten minutes ago, it was for the Presidential alert system they are rolling out. Great. (Sarcasm)  Can't get into politics, just suffice it to say it better not get used unless it's a true emergency.

Same here it also came over my cable card for the TV so that I had to close down Windows Media Center to get TV channels showing again

KET (state broadcaster affilated with PBS) gave me the Emergency Prodcast too and my iPhone as well. I'm sure they chose "presidential" as the name because it'll get more attention, even negative attention, and so they'll get more people educated and aware of this revamp of the Emergency Broadcast System.

Here is the picture 15 year old cockatiel they gave me named Rio. He is doing well with his training (I'm teaching him to fly to me when I say 'Come Here' & fly to his cage when I say 'Go Home' even if I'm just getting started with him. He is less afraid and more active today but just as grouchy. The cage is a big size and was free too. Also, on Monday I drove like 120 miles round trip to buy a bonded pair of budgies to be cage mates for him. Initially they were curious about each other but now they are ignoring each other. There budgies' names are Jill (turquoise - upper left) and Jack (lower right - lime green & yellow) and are completely untame so I'll have to do that too. It's more difficult with a bonded pair though. Although Rio is enthusiastic when I roll those birds out of their room (my weight room) in the morning i still feel he'd be less grouchy with a cockatiel play mate as i was told he had one long ago. I've already talked to a breeder that will sell me a lutino cockatiel as Rio's playmate but that'll take 3 months before the play mate is ready so I'm train him in the meantime.  Ignore the very dusty & unfinished house (I put the birds in my weight room and block under the door with a towel when I'm sanding or painting elsewhere in the house).

    @nonesuch00   Aw, those are precious!

Thought I'd share two toys I bought today, and did some research, one or both are online. I found one and wasn't going through 10 pages to see if the other one was there, assume it is. The website is superbirdtoystore (dot com) and these are perfect for cockatiels, linnies, budgies, etc. They love to fiddle with it. Finn likes standing on both while he plucks at it.

Edit- The food the tiels really love is Higgins Premium Safflower Gold. It has flecks of fruit that tiels can eat (great size), flakes of something, seeds, etc that are like a great Trail Mix.

    This is called Firecracker Jr.

Donna HD (Gen8F)     dForce Casual Springtime Outfit (Gen8F)      Sassy Bob Hair (Gen8F)      Layla Hair (Gen3/8F)

The Casual Springtime Outfit has beautiful materials, and is shown using the dForce. It drapes effortlessly.

Second render: I am not a fan of the Sassy Bob Hair, it had NO morphs to move the botom parts of that hair to the back. You're stuck with it in front. (On your right.) It has nice morphs to fluffy out the hair, and to wind blow, and several other morphs to adjust the temples, get it off the chest, but having to leave the hair in that position made it look wind blown and I did NOT do a wind morph on it.  Be sure and read the morph list and you'll see it has a variety- but none for the middle to end of strands. (and nothing in Scene to help you  either.) To be fair- it is a Bob style. However, that's all you can do with it, whereas some other hairs allow you to straighten out strands when they curl in or out.

Layla Hair is pretty, shown with high shine.

Donna is a nice Mousso gal, I love the realistic bags under the eyes, and her teeth.

Thanks, I was going through toys on Amazon but didn't really know what they'd like. I saw swings, ladders, bells, basketball court, shopping cart, shoes, and I'm like 'I want it all!' 'Ahem, I mean they want it all!' The two budgies being bonded are sort of off in LaLa Land so I'm not fretting about them, but the cockatiel needs remedial help. He seems to have had 3 or 4 of his longest flight feathers plucked but I am helping him learn to fly within his limitations. Eventually he should molt and fly easily again. The last time i had a pet bird of any type was in 1978 and that bird didn't need any toys as she (also a cockatiel) was too busy playing with us.

I just spent my Oct money on interactive licenses for Toon Cow, Toon Crab, and Toon Frog plus the PC+ iRay shader set Fun Fur. I've saved enough though to buy the Cartoonization for Genesis 8 Male when it comes out. Pretty good haul.

I am SICK AND TIRED of Daz Studio crashing. It's just ridiculous the studio is SO faulty. I've had crashes on every render the past week.  I'm even getting to 100% render and it's crashing at the last few seconds. The closeup of the outfit is a fast screenshot before it crashed. I'm not doing many renders if this keeps happening, I am not sitting here babysitting and screenshotting before crashes. And NO, Save Last Render is grayed out as an option when the studio has crashed.  Bug reports are a waste of time, we have all reported this version is just awful over and over again.

Luci for Gia 8      Apex Hair (Gen3/8F)     dForce Rock On Outfit (Gen8F)

The Apex Hair has good morphs, a better variety of options than the previous hair. The Rock On Outfit is good but I personally don't like low slung pants, so if this wasn't in a bundle or dirt cheap I wouldn't have bought it as I'd only use the top. The top does have really nice details and lovely materials

CLICK TO ENLARGE, CLICK AGAIN. Render is 1000px.  What do you think of the lips? I thought it looked a bit... weird with the lines going all those directions. Two prominent slanted lines in the middle of the bottom lip seemed distracting to me. Almost like a vein type pattern on the lip.

Screenshot so doesn't quite show detail as well as the render would.

yeah, the crashing is a big issue for me as well. Do you use HDRI when you get the crashes? I have found certain HDRI seem to cause crashing on my machine. That render looks nice.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

Yep. It's the Pro-Studio by Colm Jackson, and it did absolutely fine in the 4.9 version. I try to use tha one so people can have apples and apples comparisons for the skin materials.

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,651

Yeah, I've found most of my crashing occurs with the use of HDRI. It has curbed my desire to use them.

  • L'AdairL'Adair Posts: 9,479

I use HDRIs most of the time, and have only had DS crash on me once following a render. However, due to comments in the forum, I've never updated my released install to 4.10. I'm running the 4.11 beta and the 4.9 release. In almost all cases, I use the beta. And it was the 4.10 beta that crashed following a render, if I recall correctly.

Anyway "Save last render" won't do any good following a crash because DS empties the temp folder when it starts. But if you create a shortcut to the temp folder and put it somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop, you can go to your temp folder and often times copy "r.png" to another location and save your render. You just have to remember not to open DS studio following a crash. (Easier said than done, in my experience.)
