Dforce Workout Outfit This outfit is my favorite in the bundle. The texture expansion makes it all worth while.

You see, I just use utilitarian male's outfits a lot more, than I can ever use a Jedi Knight. Anyway, the set includes, shorts, shirt, bag, water bottle. The texture expansion is a must.

I did have a bit of an issue with Boyd's thumb position going into the waterbottle. It was an easy fix, so I just bent it out. Let me know if it works for you.

This is dforce, but I didn't need to use it. That suits me just fine.

  • Those pants are just the worst. I only bought it because I wanted the shoulder holsters, Since there hasn't been a good one since g2 Eldritch Seeker. I'm trying to get the guns that come with that set into the holsers on this one, but it's very difficult and the holsters are way too flat. I'm glad at least the rest of Eldrtich Seeker autofits well to G3/G8.

  • The outfit doesn't have the realism I need for my renders. And strangely, everytime I look at the outfit out of the corner of my eye, I see lederhossen.

I have been around the states and not found a place where Owen Boyd or Silas are common names.

Well it helps if you go to school or university in an area. Also doing genealogy and meeting cousins, related to many more of them than you'd ever of guessed, helps. I couldn't tell you what was a common name in California was though when I was growing up as i've never been there.

Central Appalachians. I've known people, all in that area, with those names. I still remember thinking how all the people here looked like they were from England when I moved here. I've since learned that is basically true. They've been isolated and dirt poor for centuries. I have a cousin recently named Beulah. I have to admit both Silas fellows though were adult cousins of my mother's side not my school age so its not stylish anymore as a name but Myles, Owen, Boyd, Elmer, Delbert, Gilbert, Arville, Agravaine, Ashford, Saul, Melvin, Lloyd, Vernon, Virgil, Morris, Chester, Luther, Enoch, Elbert, Elijah, Wes, Dwayne, Claude, Forrest, Clay, Jody, Aubrey, Elias, Byron, Bart (Bartholomew), hyphenated names like Billy-Ray, and Homer were all my general age and the names were totally weird to me when I 1st heard them. I thought my leg was being pulled a couple of times but I kept my mouth shut. Homer probably lost popularity since the Simpsons cartoon. Cam, Burl and some other unusual names are common here too. Or at least they were to me when I moved here. A lot of people here are now doing TV styled given names now.

Women have their fair share of old fashioned names here too. The other common thing was to name a girl after a geographic feature, eg India, Nevada, Montana, Geneva, Constance, Florida and so on. Boys were often given the surname of a past President or US Founding Father, eg Washington, Jefferson, Hancock, Harrison, Lincoln, Franklin and so on.

Before i moved here in high school the names I only have ever heard of via school in Chicago or Indiana or on primetime TV were all names like John, Don, Stanley, Ron, Mark, Chris, David, Jeff, Jim, Carl, Fred, Ed, Randy, Ken, Larry, Gary, Jerry, Harry, Richard, Dick, Will, Bill, Steve, Sam, Tim, Tom, Joe, Robert, Bob and those very common TV and school book primer names. Moving here was like I'd moved back in time to a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Also very common here and I suspect elsewhere was (It's not so common anymore) was for everyone to have an (often odd) pet name that was not a real name as a child and it sticks with them their whole life. Example of people i've known, Hammer, Red, Doc, Frog, Tag, and Hub. If you've watched old black & white movies did ever notice the large number of characters that would have such an odd nickname? Also if you know about baseball history? Whitey, Blackey, Bugsy, Babe, Dizzy, Daffy, and so on, lots of nicknames. Pretty interesting.

I don't want to run on too long like I tend to do and already have but yes the names were and still are to a lesser degree, definitely different here compared to the other places I lived & the television. Don't forget it was actually the 80s and 90s before a lot of those folk even had a TV let alone any cable or satellite to watch on the TV. This ain't LA. They lived in their own world. And I think you'll find the same for other remote areas of the US before television flattened out the uniqueness.

I'm betting genealogy computers are already making short work of these names probability of regional appearance and time period appearance through the USA censuses and other historical documents.

Owen, Boyd, Silas, Myles are sort of common names here. I know folk make fun of Elmer & Homer and such names but they are still in use around here too. Although some parents are trying weird names like Sky and such too.

I've lived for years on the East and West coast of the US. in England, New Zealand and two countries on the African continent and I have never met a Boyd, Owen, or Silas before. So, from my perspective, I would say that they aren't that common.

    For fun, there is this site that tells you in the United States how common a name is out of over 330 million residents;

Less than 43k have Owen as a first name

Less than 15k have Silas as a first name

Less than 32k have Boyd as a first name

Using national statistics to decide what's relevant or correct for an isolated area when that area has different cultural practices is a common mistake. A half a dozen USA megalopolises are going to completely misrepresent what is common in the diverse rural areas of a country the size of the USA. So like the Chinese don't care that John is a common given name in the Western world, in areas of the country where Owen is given as a name, they don't care if it's not a common name in China or in the USA nationally or in another USA area regionally. It's common to them even if they've only ever met one person with that name. Some people might say that Pierre, Herb or Owen (all boys I've known in rural areas) are not common names but I've known people named all three so not being gregarious that makes them common names in my experience. Cajun and Creole country is another area where 'uncommon' names are common.

I never said I was deciding what was "correct" or "relevant" for an isolated area. I never said that those names are uncommon for you. I was speaking about the entire population of the U.S. and how many people had those names. I lived for years in an area where "Ateba" was the most common name you came across. I know dozens of people with that name. That doesn't make it a common name for that country, just common for that tiny provence.

So that I am no longer derailing Serene's thread...

That's too bad about the suit. I had high hopes for that one, being a sucker for suspenders.

We have lots of ‘Owens’ here in Ireland, but they are usually spelled Eoin or Eoghan, from the original Gaeilge. :)

I wondered about that name. His and Honorine's were so unusual. (I love her SO MUCH ... but I digress.)

I will admit, that's the outfit that I like the least. At first glance, I thought this one might be pretty good. But ... there's a lack of any detailing in the pants (no pocket slashes? No side seams? No zipper placket? In something that is vaguely zoot-suit adjacent?). And the shoulders just look odd and puffy. I sort of understand why there's no suit jacket -- if this is really meant to be reminiscent of a zoot suit, the jacket would be very complicated to make. It would need to come in sharply at the waist, in a way that men's clothing just doesn't these days, as well as having fairly hefty shoulder pads. Putting all that together in a dForce outfit seems like it would be hard to manage.

As far as the names go, I think I've known one each for Boyd, Owen and Silas. All in college, actually, but that's sort of the time and place to meet people with different backgrounds that lend themselves to different names like that. (Also a Homer. Although I didn't so much know him as keep getting mistaken for him; we were basically dopplegangers. But, again, I digress.)

I really like the new: S.de.Sweat Pack For Genesis 8 Males. There is a lot of variety in this set. And you can't beat the price with the coupon offer.

The initial preload had me worried, since it loads a non-iray texture, but there are iray mats. Its just been so long since I've bought something that didn't have iray as base materials.

I can see the guy are going to be spending more time sweating... At the gym of course!

They also work really well on women, in the unlikely event that you ever render one of those.

  • LOL. Other people render females better than I do- But I have done a few now and then.  Thanks for the tip.

There was a texture expansion for the https://www.daz3d.com/intimates-for-genesis-8-male-s released elsewhere

If you don't own intimates, this is one of the better sets available here at DAZ store. The texture expansion spices things up with latex and mesh options.

This is the tank over the swimsuit option.

Someone posted this image in the product suggestion group. It intrigued me, so I am going to attempt to gender bend it, minus the dog expression.

When I worked as a busboy the hostess had that happen to her only it was her entire slip. Slips were designed for modesty and were a must for every adult women (based on my observations as a little boy being took shopping at department stores and observing all the items women were purchasing).

You mean the male version works on women? That's great, because the female version of the outfit is an entirely different style. It's more 00s street fashion than a warm suit for an autumn morning run. I like both of them, but they have different uses.

  • Hee I am working on it. The challenge is finding a male item of clothing that falls like this without blowing up when dforced

I think the G2M Boxer underwear set for Sloshwerks has a preset that would save you from having to dForce.

Thanks. I forgot about that. If what I’m using doesn’t work out I’ll give that a try.

Would the gender-bent version still be wearing a dress? Because if not, that seems like the bigger hurdle to me.

Yeah, there is no real contemporary male equivalent to the coverage a dress provides short of a kilt or drag.

in this case the pants will be falling down, and the underwear will show. It is the best we can do, to keep it cheeky but yet in the spirit of the image.

Not necessarily. He could be carrying something in such a way that his crotch would be covered.

Probably a kilt although that would violate dress regulations. laugh

Regarding Malik’s skin the response I received is:

“I showed this to QA and we are sending an email to the PA. In the meantime, please go to the Surfaces pane > under Surfaces, select Legs > and change the Bump Map to 2.00. This will correct the render.”

A kilt wouldn't work as , traditionally, we don't wear anything underneath it cool

Hmm.  2.0 seems a bit strong to me, but we'll see, I suppose. I mean, yes, it would match the torso setting (although they ignore the fact that his normal map is incorrectly set, as well), but I think his bump overall is set a bit strong.

    Yeah, I can understand that.

I did finally get my bundle review posted. I like all of the guys, but I've never seen a pro bundle release with this many obvious issues that I can remember.
