A Dodge PU? Where'd you get that?

Reminds me of when I used to walk for miles with a steak knife in search of a Christmas Tree. I had to be 6' - 8' or less, a good full shape at that size, and be able to cut it down with a state knife. In these parts that invariably meant I'd be cutting down an Eastern Cedar tree. And most years along the interstate right-of-way banks on the shoulder. Those areas were like Christmas Tree farms because the government would periodically mow down all vegetation on the interstate leaning to a lot of small Eastern Cedars to choose from as they are among the 1st trees to grow on poor land. Nowadays, I think I might get in trouble for that, even if I was 13 years old or thereabouts again.

Renderosity has it. It recolors nice for iray and the size is about right.

On the subject of women's clothing for men, here is Adventure Girl by Luthbellina It genderbends pretty well out of the box. I am going to do some tweaking to pull those pants down a bit.

Nothing wrong with the shorts. That is about the length I prefer mine, I hate longer shorts with a vengeance and even got some shortened after I bought them smiley

I think she's referring more to the height of the waistline than the length of the legs.

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,648

They can be lowered with fit control. For some reason women’s pants when fit to men often turn into mom jeans.

They are supposed to sit on your hips, not around the buttocks laugh

  • I wondered about those and put them on my wishlist- if not for the clothing, then the additional props.  Thanks for showing this

All the props are great. The backpack, rope, pick etc. the expansion pack with the radio and map are excellent too. As usual Luthbellina makes an excellent product.

I really dislike these very low waist trousers. I call them Brazilian style but I don't know where that style actually originated. It's a further exaggeration of the US style of having the waist line lower than is practical. While I've gotten used to the typical beltline location for USA, it being popular practically my whole life, the (somewhat) new(er) lower waist lines in some fashion style looks sort of, well, desperate.

Here we go. I used fit control to lower the shorts down a notch.

This was a photoshop action called "Call to Honor."

I wanted to put a spaceship in the background, but, I couldn't find one, that didn't look cute, rather than ominous. I am sure I have something, but I just reinstalled my library, and can't find anything.

Anyway, cool action, will be using this again for sure.

The product though is nicely modeled.

Wow! I love the whole "page from a graphic novel I just gotta read" vibe this is giving me. It says so much ... and still makes me want more story. heart

Yeah, I think that turned out well!!

How does that work? Did you just render the figures against a transparent background? Or did the Photoshop action detect and work around the figures against a rendered background?

This was another action. I actually stopped it halfway through running, because I liked the action at this stage. One of the things I enjoy doing with effects, is just using some parts of the technique. You can then alter it to make it look different than the original.

Do a canvas render. Save as PNG.

It is easy to make a mask out of a png. You take it into photoshop, select it, and then invert the selection. Create a new layer, and then fill in your selected pixels with a unique color.

What I find easiest to do with actions, is create one, and save the photoshop file as a template. There are usually a few steps you need to do, such as select brushes, or rename layers, that I save the template just to remind me, what I need to do. Then the next time I want to use it, I just insert my new pictures.

At the risk of sounding like a complete nitwit, what is a canvas render and how do you do it?

A "normal" 8 bit render can be saved as a PNG file by changing the file type in the drop down menu in the render window or on the Render Settings Editor tab. You don't have to render a canvas to save as PNG. (A canvas is a 32 bit high dynamic range file created on the Render Settings Advanced tab.)

Oh. I save as either .png or .tiff anyway so that's good to know. Curious, what's the advantage of canvas render .png as compared to standard one, bit size aside?

It gives you more flexibility in editing in an editor like Photoshop, because of the 32 bit dynamic range. There are many other things you can do with canvases, but I defer to the several forum threads and tutorials already available about that. I've used them, but I an far from an expert!

If you just want a mask, render the stuff you want with no elements behind (and Draw Dome/Draw Ground off), then save as PNG or Tiff. Canvasses allow additional options, and save as .exr so you get much more information for each pixel - they are in the Advanced tab of Render Settings.

  • ByrdieByrdie Posts: 1,783

I'll have to give that a try sometime. Will also have to figure out .exr files, are they a Studio only thing or does (older) Photoshop or Paintshop Pro read them too?

I have Photoshop CS6 and it can handle 32 bit EXR files.

  • FishtalesFishtales Posts: 6,119

Photoshop CS4 opens them too smiley

Hard to find a legit CS6 for sale these days and if you do I hear there's no support from Adobe and you may not even be able to register or activate it. Not subscribing to CC, I prefer not to rent software.

I get creative cloud through work but I prefer the earlier versions. Many of my addons don’t work with the new creative cloud. Recently creative cloud has discontinued allowing the downloads of older software so I worry I won’t be able to use some of my plugins in the future.
