    1. If you are using your $ off (tier 2 is $50, tier 1 was ?) then doing it today and tomorrow will get you that additional 10% off.

    2. It also impacts your monthly PC Club code- that $6 off PLUS the extra 10% Those have to be Daz Originals.

    3. If you are getting $ off (tier 2 is $6, tier 1 is ?) then if you use it for Daz Originals you will get that additional 10% off.

    ...

Shopping shouldn’t have to be so strategic, should it?!

    Too right, Novica.

To fill in the gaps for Tier 1 above:
    1. $20
    3. $2
oh and 30% off participating vendors

I'm going to need a spreadsheet to keep all this straight!

By the way, gorgeous underwater renders once again, SereneNight.

I don't normally stomp my feet and pout in the forum but I'm annoyed today too. I bought something this morning (UK time), having checked there were no new coupons for this last day of the sale... only to find that by morning? (or afternoon?) US time there was a money-off coupon. If I'd held off I could have bought added something else to my order and had a nice discount too. :(

Oh and yes, getting totally confused with the coupons I do have that are going to expire and best spent while 40% discount still applies...

Oh man, I'm so sorry That stinks about the extra coupon. If it were me, I'd just return the kit and kaboodle and rebuy with the new coupie. If you didn't use a coupon initially.

For those wanting the OCTO. He is Now even further on sale at: 65% OFF. LOL. Now I Wish I'd waited now to use the coupie on those fish! Octopus now 65% as are daz animals including Squirrel!

Oh it gets WORSE- now all the animals from ALL THE VENDORS are on sale 40% off and discounts stack.
Read it here (and groan if you bought animals and wasted your $50.)
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/31979/

Every animal in the DAZ Store is on a 40% off flash sale for the next 4 hours. This means any animal from any vendor.

But wait, there’s more. The 40% off for Platinum Club members will stack on DAZ Originals for a total of 64% off.

And there’s even more. We are also offering $6.00 off of any $30.00 purchase with the coupon code PC-LASTCHANCE The only exclusion for this coupon is gift cards. You can use it on new releases, used releases, and even certified pre-owned releases. It will even work with the Animal Flash Sale.

**Edit** If you haven’t seen the slider for the Animal Sale you should know that it excludes $1.99 items and $2.99 items.

(Note the vendor's name, you never ever never see him on sale.)

    http://www.daz3d.com/aquatic/watercolors-for-butterflyfish

If you can only get TWO products and do ocean renders or might, grab these two only IMO!!!!!! I made this a separate post so subscribers would get this in time.

I am only seeing 40% and no additional discounts on the aquatic which is under animals, so I posted in that thread. Hang on and dont buy aquatic for a bit. Daz_jared is on the thread and watching for glitches. We are supposed to get stacking if PC members without entering a code and it isnt happening.

SQUEEEEE! Noggin's is another hard to find discounts vendor. LOOK AT THIS!!!
    http://www.daz3d.com/domestic/noggin-s-hamster

http://www.daz3d.com/noggin-1 is the store. I'm loading up!!!

REMEMBER- test that $30 rule- don't do $55 worth of stuff, do two orders of $30 (go ahead and get $5 more, you'll get $6 off, lol!)
So remember increments of $30. It does not say one time use, and it never has been. I always do several orders.

EDIT: The owl and dragonfly are exceptional, have done both. That dragonfly is the one in my very first render with the woman and two cartoon dragons.

Only the Daz Originals are that 65%, there's the link to make it easier. Found out in the member's forum, Daz never answered. Keep posting the tips- thanks! If I get time I'll go through the PA stores and see what I can find too.

I still recommend Noggins- they do not go on sale very often. I am getting cockatiels, macaws, cockatoos, etc- and check out the scorpion- it has REALLY cool textures, including an armored one for sci fi renders. Check the thumbnails.

Thanks for all the heads up, what would I do without this thread?

I bought the fawn as part of my $20 coupon order, but I'm still thinking about the puppy. Great news that the discount stacks! :)

    :) Luv ya too!

Got all this for $30.57 (minus $6 so $24.57), most all are D.Originals so 65%, a couple Platinum Club ones. So also got $6 off as just over $30

    Gorilla for Genesis $8.73
    Bass $3.48
    Trigger Fish $3.48
    Moray Eel $3.48
    Seahorse $3.48
    Sea Turtle $1.99
    Manta Ray $5.93

TOTAL after $6 off: $24.57 (with 7 items that would be $3.51 a piece average.) Be sure to go to Shop>Animals>Aquatic and pick up the cheapies above. The whales are also 64% for quite a few of them.

    Now on to Noggins.
EDIT: Don't you love how I juggle it to get just slightly over $30? I put everything in my wishlist then manipulate the cart to come out that way. I have a calculator and subtract to see just how much it will take to get over that $30 mark.

    Noggin's Hamster
    http://www.daz3d.com/noggin-s-hamster

Love the poses and you can make all kinds of hamsters, there's quite the variety! This pose is wonderful, look at those itty bitty toes. You click, he's posed. Great for some home renders. Still on sale 40% off.

I did postwork and put the gleam in his eye. If you don't draw but have a graphics program, you can easily do this. Just click to enlarge (and click again) and you'll see what I did.

Renders VERY quickly, even with UE2. (UberEnvironment 2)

    Noggin's Real Macaw
    http://www.daz3d.com/noggin-s-real-macaw

Keep in mind I've owned several varieties of the large cockatoos, a severe macaw, a yellow nape amazon, and I was a freelance national magazine artist (way back when) and my specialty was... birds. So I am not that impressed with this so far as realism goes with the details of the feathers. I had to turn up the bump and the displacement (bumps were -.048 and positive .048 and displacement -.13 and .13 and all that could have been tweaked more if you wanted to do more contrast.

This was again a quick speed render, even with the shading rate on .20, pixel samples 13, shadow samples 32, pixel filter width 10.67
NOTE: The morphs are in HIP. I had individually adjusted every part of that wing and then I happened to find them. Save you some time!

    Ultimate Fly Collection
    http://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-fly-collection

    Another one by Noggin.
You can select a fly, or the group of flies, then individually place them. Really kinda fun!
I didn't do the maggot. Just not that appealing.

There's four materials for the fly,

Five hours well-spent, I would say! That is one nice render...what did you use for lighting?

I gotta get some more stuff from 3DU's store...actually starting to think about getting a bunch of toon stuff and trying to make some animations for my kids. Maybe someday.

Debating whether to get the Ranger Bundle now, or save for M6 stuff...

I see what you mean about the feathers, but I still like this render a lot (and it seems like a nice model for everything but extreme close-ups). The pose reminds me of Audubon paintings and the lighting/dark background looks like something from National Geographic. :)

Thank you- it was supposed to be a "here she is" not so long render, and what surprised me was it was a fairly small render. I could have understood that five hours if it was over 1000 pixels in either dimension, but....

I remember using Predatron's Essential Lights and Skies, and I am pretty sure it was Clear Day. I had to tweak it and turn it way down. You can see the skin materials are really light. I also used that lighting pack for these animals however the lights are now about 70% mine- with added spotlights and distant lights, and changing the UE2 significantly. I think it was 60% strength and it's something like 28% for that render. Can't remember the slider right under that- intensity scale I think- and that was 60% too and I went with 40% or lower.

Not really a new user anymore :) Still a lot to learn, but I'm reading a lot behind the scenes and I'd prefer to let folks with up to a year's experience compete. I' popped into that thread a few weeks ago (it's part two, folks should check out the October as you'll learn a lot) and saw your nice tutorial. Also, I'm supposed to be over in the RRRR thread competing (it's all Barbult's fault, lol- you reading this Barbult?!) and I haven't even started my first one. I'm also one of the sponsors for that one so I have to get busy on that!

I would recommend folks take a peek at that thread and ask questions. Chohole and the others are very, very helpful- and check out her tutorial that she has linked (MFD is Morphing Fantasy Dress) and is a popular item, good to learn on.

Really like the Macaw render, the lighting looks great. I don't think the realism of the feathers matters when the render looks that good. I'm going to put this and the fly on my wishlist.

here is a closeup of Daydream's necklace and a texture. As usual, I forgot to lower the shader rate below 0.8. You can see the seam around her neck.

I'm to tired to fix the scene now. I might do it tomorrow. bye

That is a scary render. :cheese: Daydream still looks great though. Thanks.

Ohia ladies and gentlemen. =-) Rendered in swim trunks so you can see his tats.

    Ohia

Oh wow Ohia looks really good. Thanks.

    Denver hair:
    http://www.daz3d.com/denver-hair

Denver hair looks best to me- for distance work. It has a lot of movement to it, so it would work for underwater scenes. Up close unfortunately I feel the crown of the head has a painted on look which makes it less realistic to me. It comes with a lot of styles which is quite nice. I just wish the hair above the forehead had more detail and a few strands and the hair had a less clumpy appearance

Thanks for the close up render. I agree about Denver hair, have taken it off my wishlist.

Here's my render of Noggin's Seagull with David 5, as Grandpa!

    Noggin's Seagull
    http://www.daz3d.com/noggin-s-seagull-set

I always like to render new content I buy after I get it, just to see how I like it. This is just a combination of content I've bought recently. I also really like to try to render older characters to contrast with the rather female-youth focus we see a lot in 3d art. I have added links to content we haven't discussed before.

In general I will admit there is something about David's face I don't like. But I think it worked out for me here.

    So here is David 5
Skin is "The Last Gladiator" http://www.daz3d.com/last-gladiator-for-m4-and-f4
Morphs are Zev's "Aging Morphs for Genesis"
Backdrop is from Morguefile, with heavy Gaussian Blur
    Lights are Predatron's DS Lights
    Glasses are "Spex"

One challenging thing I’ve found with the Seagull is posing the feet and matching the poses with the appropriate type of gull. Some poses won’t work with different types of birds, and spotting these differences isn’t easy from the tiny thumbnail at least for me. Getting the seagull to perch on an uneven surface like grandpa's shoulder was rather tougher than I would like to admit.

attached: 1 image of grandpa ready to play ball!

That looks really good for the aging and the background works well with it. Let me ask you this- do you have Skull Cove props? If you do, you might want to compare those sea gulls against Noggins. I used one in that Overseas Bungalow render, and I think it has more detail. Headed out to put a blanket on Stetson (going to be in the 30's for more than 8 hours and the Florida horses don't have a thick coat yet, and it's windy) so will check back in later.

Also, working on a different idea for spotting changes- will post later tonight. It' s not a puzzle like what you do. :) Gotta go!

No, don't have it. Interesting it has more detail as the store says it is low resolution? I can barely see the gull in that set. That pack needs more pictures! =-) I do remember yours though and liked it. Does it have lots of poses for the gull?

Today’s Review is 220 emotions for genesis
    http://www.daz3d.com/220-emotions-for-genesis

Yeah, I was trying not to buy any more genesis morphs because of the way they slow down my computer.=-) But I have to say, that this set is pretty cool! You get 220 emotions, with a wide variety of subjects from regret to drunk with open mouth. There are even several different types of poses for the same emotion for example: several different types of sympathy and several different kisses. I was impressed with how well most of these look, and that they aren’t female specific like so many expression sets which appear geared towards v5. =-)

The poses are easy to apply and use. Just click on the head and go to the Pose section to dial in a pose. You can dial in a little or a lot depending on how extreme you want the facial pose.

Overall I am pleased with the set, but there were a few things I encountered:

The naming of the emotions was not as varied as I would like, nor were there quite as much variety of emotions as I actually expected
I would love it if the emotions were grouped someway. I had difficulty determining what was content installed from other packs, and what came with this set.

An index of sorts would be nice. I couldn’t find a readme on the product library page.

I also experienced crashing when changing the character’s expression. This happened quite a bit so I had to save to avoid losing work. I’m not sure if it is a studio thing, my computer, or what, but this was kind of frustrating.

I used Ryuu to model the expressions, because Ryuu has lovely expressive face. =-) Ryuu is here: http://www.daz3d.com/ryuu-for-m5 Lights are from DIY Portrait Lights http://www.daz3d.com/d-i-y-portrait-lights-for-ds4 by Forbidden Whispers

220 Emotions is among my favorite Genesis products, especially taking price/value into consideration. The sheer number of expressions is impressive (if a tad overwhelming: it can sometimes take a lot of fiddling to find the "right" one), and the fact that they're sliders as opposed to presets like a lot of other expression sets allows for more control. And I agree that the emotions seem more "universal" than those found in other sets, that seem to work best with females or else were designed for specific characters. I also agree that the variety or range of looks is a bit less than I expected, because instead there are a lot of variations of the same emotion. I don't think that's a bad thing--just not quite what I expected. I haven't experienced the crashing issue while using this set.

Bottom line: I find that the product makes it much easier to achieve realistic, nuanced expressions.
