    DIM installer here:

    http://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info

If you have installed everything in default file location, you should be able to use this. It will not see stuff that you have already installed. It will whine at you that you have stuff already in your default folders, but its fine.

Okay, you asked what the 5 oldest things on my wishlist are. I like these, but right now they aren't in my price range, so I'm waiting for 'em to go on sale or a good coupon.

    Here they are:

    GNBD Underwater Brushes
    http://www.daz3d.com/gnbd-underwater-brushes
Seems a useful product for doing underwater renders

    Superhero suit for genesishttp://www.daz3d.com/super-hero-suit-for-genesis-2-and-v6
Seems a cool item. Waiting for a sale.

    My backdrops http://www.daz3d.com/my-backdrops
Nice collection of images. I'm forever using morguefile, but it would be nice to own some licensing for products for commercial use.

    Tourist Props
    http://www.daz3d.com/tourist-props
I've wanted it, but a little expesnive for me. Also want the pose sets

    Terri Hair
    http://www.daz3d.com/terri-hair
    A nice basic

Sorry, hadn't checked back in. I'm not having any problems setting up the DIM, I don't know why I said the old forums, I've not been around since those were used, lol! I am starting from scratch so I don't have any old content. Installing all the Genesis, Genesis 2, Michael and Victorias 4 &5 figures and morphs first, then will point the studio to the installer. Am watching the video now (thanks for the link SereneNight) and if I have a problem everyone in the southern half of the United States better cover their ears. :)

I do have a technical question as I don't know the mechanics of this thing. Once the products are installed, I do not have to keep the downloaded files right? I can put them on my external as the installation location has the files?

BUT if I download files and DON'T install them, I do need to keep the downloaded files so the DIM can find them?
(they are in two different locations, both in C Directory)

GNBD Underwater Brushes- how exactly do those work in Photoshop? They look really neat.

Well, read this about that darned Octopus. Keep in mind I just started trying out the DIM, so maybe something is screwed up. I only have 2 files I can use other than the poses. One is the octopus and the other is the materials (skin) Even with parenting, the skin just won't stay with the octopus when posed.

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/31808/

EDIT: Well, he's a little late for Halloween. Kinda neat in a way.

You do not need to keep files once they are installed, although I do keep them. backing them up on the hard drive is also what I do. you do need to keep the ones you download and don't install, or simply don't download them and leave them on the server. You could also technically download 'em and back them up and then delete if you don't want to install right away so you could back them up with the other files. They will show up in the files ready to download.

GNBD Underwater Brushes- how exactly do those work in Photoshop? They look really neat.

The brushes go into your brushes folder. You can change the size and color of the brushes to say.. White, to make bubbles or black for a shadowy thing in the distance. You can adjust the point (brush size) to make them tiny or huge depending on your need. While I don't tend to use the silhouette ones because they look a bit flat, they might be interesting in an underwater environment where the locale is somewhat murky.

Okay, for you folks who get the octopus, some kind people over in the other forums helped me understand what the two files do, you don't put the "octopus map" on the octopus, this is an older file so just use the map and NOT the octopus at all. (Sigh.) So here is the normal octopus, the Halloween one previously pictured will have to retire until next year (although I love that for a science fiction one!)

Click to enlarge then click again, to see details. Very large render.

Here We Go- the start of
    "WHAT'S ON YOUR WISHLIST?"

Okay, SereneNight and I have chatted, and we'd like to know "What's on YOUR wishlist?" We've figured out that between the two of us, we have a staggering amount of products (7,000+) so if you want to know what something looks like, now is your chance! Tell us your top 5 things that you would like to see us showcase- we may not do all five, and will alternate with what others request, but we'll be happy to "show you what we've got."

We're going to do the requests in the order received (at least one of yours before we do one of someone else's, then we may come back, particularly to add it to a scene. We will then go back to your post and provide the link to it.) This may turn out to be like the RRRR thread where we mix funny things just so you can see them. YOU MAY ALSO CLAIM SOMEONE'S ITEMS TO HELP SHOWCASE THEM- but PLEASE let us know so we don't duplicate efforts. Let's try to do things which have not been done, unless you already have a render and would like to share it. (This is going to be fun.)

    SERENE NIGHT'S WISHLIST:
I'm starting with Serene Night's list. I'm going to do these next. (So these are already claimed.) And no, she didn't know I was going to try and combine these.

    Octopus http://www.daz3d.com/octopus
    DONE: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/28138/P720/#472198

    Daz Squirrel: http://www.daz3d.com/daz-squirrel

    DONE: Starionwolf's: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/28138/P720/#472299

*Notes: First observations about the squirrel I love the fact he has expressions- surprised, disgusted, sad, angry- in addition to morphs for the mouth so you can customize the way his lips are puckered or pursed, etc. So great flexibility. TONS of tail options. Love this guy!

Sean for David 5 http://www.daz3d.com/sean-for-david-5 WILL PROBABLY PUT HIM WITH THE SQUIRREL

Tourist Props http://www.daz3d.com/tourist-props DAVID WILL OF COURSE BE A TOURIST

    Terri Hair http://www.daz3d.com/terri-hair

And just for the fun of it, if any of you would like to showcase things from MY wishlist, here's my first 5. No, you don't have to combine these into a scene, lol! If there's one you have, show me?

Pierre For M4 http://www.daz3d.com/pierre-for-m4 (like the eyebrows in particular)
Erlina http://www.daz3d.com/erlina (you must own http://www.daz3d.com/pixiedust-outfit (which I do, but not Erlina)
V4 A4 Bun Hair http://www.daz3d.com/v4a4-bun-hair NEVER MIND, ON SALE, I BOUGHT IT 60% OFF!
    Blaine Hair http://www.daz3d.com/blaine-hair
    Dust And Trail Tool http://www.daz3d.com/dust-and-trail-tool

    So, what's on your wishlist?

I want to get to Petipet's awesome new Vehicles, but that will be tomorrow's fun, sorry Petipet, I am your number 1 fan, hopefully tonight I'll get to play with your cool new vehicles. =-)

    Today's review is:

    Unshaven body hair by DAZ3d
    http://www.daz3d.com/unshaven-body-hair-for-genesis

I admit it. I love my guy figures, and when I saw this product for sale, I snapped it up. Oddly, even though I bought it I haven't had a chance to actually use it much. Well no more!

This is quite a nice product if you want to render your men with a nice bearlike hairy texture and they have bare arms and legs. (you'll get poke through otherwise) It also recolorable so if you don't like the default dark, you can recolor it to a more pleasing shade. The hair applies nicely to the legs and torso and the hair works great in conjunction with: Unshaven Beard: http://www.daz3d.com/unshaven-beard-for-genesis

Hair applies easily. You just select the genesis figure you want to use it on, find the product and click to apply. When you select the hair prop and go to the shaping tab, it will take you to a 'groom room' where you can hairify your guy (or gal I suppose), with some extra hair.

Hair can be applied to the torso, chest, and arms and even the groin with this product. The only caveat is you have to be careful with clothing pokethrough.

I applied the hair nicely to this Satyr. I used the hair that both Novica and I love (which looks surprisingly good on men too) Trixy hair for genesis to make a nice Grecian look for this burly fellow. I also applied a beard using Unshaven beard and some extra leg hair.

If you like some extra hair on your Genesis figure, you might want to check out this fun hair product.

As part of the sale it is 40% off for Platinum club members right now.

For the pokethru, you should be able to use the the polygon group editor to mitigate some of the effect (I'd check but I'm in the midst of a render at the moment). It will depend on the geometry of the item, but in effect you 'just' highlight the offending bits and (here is where memory fails) you can (I think!) have them 'disappear' or you can put them in their own surface and set to 0% opacity.

    3d Universe:http://www.daz3d.com/3d-universe
Not thrilled with Charlize's skin materials at all- but I spent eight hours literally coming up with the settings for making the skin less grayish and those are posted in our thread. I'll see if I can find it.

Great clothes, etc- Jeans look good, top fits great http://www.daz3d.com/charlize-for-genesis-2-female-accessories

Skull Cove- LOVE THOSE PROPS!!!! Cannons, sea gulls, barrels, crates, you name it.
The set- Get it for the skydomes alone- they are great!

I also use Toon Amy and Jasmin quite a bit in morphs for my regular characters.

Noodle the cat is the one I featured with the baby. Very adaptable, my favorite cat. The ostrich is fun to pose. Love that Dodo, have it but not rendered yet.

GRAB THE SANTA IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE FOR CHRISTMAS :)

    Here's the Daz Squirrel!
EDIT: (Had to run out the door, they messed up our pizza order and I had to literally go get our pizza.)
The secret to getting a fairly smooth squirrel tail is to start with tail 1 and do the bend, then tail section 2, then 3, etc. Tail 1 starts at the base so it's logically where the squirrels's tail would start bending. Try aft- that gives it a slight twist but it's not obnoxious.

Coming up, will post here: Did one using http://www.daz3d.com/predatron-essential-lights-skies (it's the green background, in case these don't load in order when I add images.)

If anyone has these and wants to do them (before I can get to them) feel free. Otherwise, I'll gladly showcase them. SereneNight can let us know what she has and what she wants to do. I'll give her first choice.

My render of Daydream. Let me know if you want to see the shoes. Daydream comes with a pillow with Justin's name on it. That reminds me, I need to install Justin and some other products in Daz Studio 4.6 format.

I'll upload a closeup of the necklace too. I also need to change the shader rate from 1.00 to something smaller. Opps.

    Today’s Review is Bike Eleo

    http://www.daz3d.com/bike-eleo
    By Daz 3d/Petipet

This is another fun creation by Petipet. This bike has smooth lines, great little headlights, and a realistic sci-fi flair. It comes with two poses, and FOUR color options. (I particularly like the dark blue (shown here) ). Poses place your genesis figure in the riding position, at least mostly however, I found the poses did need to be adjusted to fit this v5. I recommend scaling her to 100% to get her to sit on the bike, and you will need to do some adjusting to fit the handlebars to the hands.

I also found the best way to parent the figure to the bike is not to parent her directly to Eleo, but to parent Eleo to her. For some reason if you parent v5 to Eleo her clothing rips off and her goggles and hair became misaligned. =-)

There are 5 movement morphs. Movements include: Port Open, Helm Turn, Wheels up/down wheels spin and pedals spin.

Adding headlights lights can be accomplished by partially embedding a point light in both of the bulbs. I found that having the light partially embedded in the actually bulb created a nice headlamp look for me. I added some beam effects in photoshop.

One thing to also note is Eleo is very LONG. I like to foreshorten the bike by changing the perspective slightly so the bike is not so vertical in my render.

This is a great bike, and one I’m sure I will use again. =-) It has a nice sci-fi look, and is easy to setup and use. Nice work as usual Petipet. =-)

Edited to add; I would love to see if Petipet can make a 'wheel spin' motion, like Petipet does with the rotary blades of the vehicles. Now that would be super awesome.

Okay, you tackle those. I knew you'd have O'hia! He's a hunk, isn't he?! Very intense.

I like the Daydream. Good job Starionwolf! Yeah, when I'm doing showcases, I try to have a rate of .30 or .40 (at a minimum, most of the time it's .20) so we get the details and do it justice for the vendors. Closeups and distance shots both help, so yes, that would be nice to see the necklace.

I went back and posted another squirrel picture and am adding one with sunlight from the Predatron's Essential Lights and Skies. That will be up in a minute.

Wanted to give everyone a heads up- I am doing a quickie of Aven for you.

Here is a tiny Aven, did it so you'd have something while the sale is on. I'll do a bigger one but first going to zoom in and do the face.
Uses her clothes and hair, OUT OF THE BOX. Not adjusting a thing.
