    Dear little Miss Trish, that can be done in Dark Side. But things you must remember, Bryce and Dark Side use two very different render engines. What one can do in 7 mins can not be done in 7 mins in the other. As a Bryce Dabbler myself, never once got a decent to me render out of it yet, the fact Bryce comes with all those wonderful light settings ready to use is a BIG help. Dark Side is very open ended and requires the user to understand the Lighting themselves and set it all up by hand. Bryce has some very powerful tools built in at the ready for the user, Dark Side is very powerful as well but the user must learn the steps to turn the power on as most of the power is not built into the default settings. I've been a Dark Sider for over 5 years and I'm yet to master its full power. Time is a must in DS, time to learn advanced settings, time to experiment and find all those little tips that slowly add up to things to do in every render. Time to just Render because of how 3Delight renders. Time that is already built into Bryce for the user with many of its options. I'm still reading the Bryce Bible. Sure it's 3 versions out of step but I have gotten much better at Bryce. Maybe one day I'll even post a GOOD render from it.

    Man: Is anyone else freezing slowly to death.....I haven't done anything today but stay wrapped up in furry blankets...the air whipping off the ocean through this old house built in 1845 is about to take me out....In my mind I thought what a really neat house all the tall ceilings ( yes its good if you really want a Christmas tree the size of the ones in the WhiteHouse) but I was not counting on there is no insulation...Yes I can breath a lot better with cold air but it kills my hip.....so I haven't created anything today...WHINE...Wimper....Brrrrrr...
    Jaderail: how do you do that??? you speak and then I find all of the tutorials on sale is it some kind of Drow magic....LOL..works for me

    cold here too - heat pump running and running
    save your money on the tutorials - there are many free ones just as good or better .

    It's 4° here in Buffalo, with blizzard conditions. So, yeah, it's cold.

    oh I thought I was bad at 30 deg. today for a high guess not...I should consider myself lucky.....

    Ok this next group... I am playing with my new outfit with tall boots... as we know I have a thing for tall boots... and purple.......I been trying to play with the lighting... also trying to figure it... out by playing with the controls...there are things in each of these pictures I like... and things I do not... but I am not perfect.....Whats it been now... I have been playing with Darkside about 3 months...I do see a very little improvement...speak your mind... cause I won't know whats wrong... if you don't tell me.......Thanks Trish

    Trish, Looks good you have done so well learning DS... only two things I noticed the eyes have a sorta vacant look to them, unless you want them that way, I have noticed this in lots of renders, my own included, I try to make them look at something to avoid that vacancy stare ... sometimes works sometimes not. His hands seem very stiff, maybe try to curl the fingers a bit, a tool I use sometimes is Handy Dandy or Handy for Genesis, and I think there is a review for one for Gen 4 characters in Novica's thread which I haven't tried yet. I find hand poses hard to get the fingers just right .... Really like the outfit, looks good, love those boots :)

    Kharma: Thank you so much....I get lost a lot on what to do with hands I will play with handy I have that somewhere in my runtime.....with all the other 10 million things I keep buying and never find again...LOL......maybe if I tried more on some kind of a highlight for his eyes make them sparkle somehow ...I will play with that also....thanks again for your ideas.....

    got water back - lost heat pump - 54 in the house

    try closing the eyes lids some - should help

    bigh: oh my God you don't have heat now.....how terrible!!!! pack everyone up and go visit some relatives....man that's cold....

    This is the first where I have tried to have more than one person in the scene...and as you can tell I have messed it up....I keep plugging away though...one of those be all you can be deals I guess....oh this is my original tall boots guy Errol Flynn...He is what got me started with the thing about men in tall boots

    The second one I put them in a sky fight...LOL

    I had the lights ok at one time... but I went to add a set of lights... of some kind don't remember what... and for some reason.... it took all of my original lights away...so I had to start over... and wasn't able to get it back as good....That is my excuse anyway....

    P.S. I put 2013 instead of 2014 ....GGrrrrrrrr

    What I was trying to say in the way above post comparing Bryce to Darkside was that in Bryce if I want a mirror material ...I click on it and BAM it becomes a mirror...in Darkside I am having a heck of a time trying to figure this out and its the same for say a window glass.....So Jaderail the render engines effect the materials and the way they behave also?????

    bigh: got up to 55 deg. here today....I am beginning to wonder if we are going to be in another Ice age or what.....

    As I noted you must LEARN to set the materials in DS as it can do it but does not have it as a default setting. Do a Google for mirrors in DS and you will find many examples of settings for a mirror. Then do as I did and save that setting as a shader to apply to any surface in DS.

    Ok cool great idea ...Thanks and thanks also for saving me money on all that stuff I had in my cart.. The Blue helpy guy saves the day again!!.....but I was able to make the big leap to M6 which gives me a new guy to play with...LOL

    Or you could simply use the chrome shaders from Ultimate]The Ultimate Shader Pack and simply remove the reflection map. I get great reflections off of surfaces using it as seen in the linked pics below.

    wow: really different thing happened to me I was on the porch having a smoke when a kitty came up ......at least I though it was a kitty...it was dark so I couldn't see well.....he stood up to check me out ...that's when I realized it was no kitty....I just sat there real quite....till he sniffed my toes and went away.....RACCOON......that will teach me I have been leaving food on my porch table for the stray kitty's ....tonight I thought they might like some chicken.....(think I will stick to dry food....now)......LOL

    used to have 3 ( mom - 2 little ones ) living across the road - they were fun to watch
    in the evening - just before sun down .

    Kharma : thanks just fooling around with new buttons and stuff.....just to see what they do....really do think I need about a million more to learn...LOL...I would get the eyes half way right its always the first thing I notice on a guy.....except I do look for tall boots...LOL

    This is another Kory render....I really like her.....and the new outfit on fast-grab....that I just had to buy.....LOL ...could not get the necklace right so I just hung it over her arm.... sure wish I had a pair of those boots...

    I call this one ....The Escape Artist....scene came with lights...but when I added those two trees....no reflections I will have to delve into this little matter.....I am trying to cheat my way through this all I can.....I always learn things the hard way....It is a lot of fun though I really think I am liking...I did not say that out loud surely .........Darkside
