That is one beautiful set. I wish I hadn't seen this.... I love Faveral and this could get expensive. Sadly I'm no expert on lighting water so will wait for someone who is to share some advice.

Cute squirrel... but it's your white tiger who's the showstopper. Love the angle you took on that one!

Little miss Trish, for hands you have to hide each node one by one. Those were finger bones and You can turn them off, but we do not have a one click turn the full hand off thing.

It happened the same as last time I turned off all the sections and it showed back up in the render......I wish I would have saved the scene but I did not....Ok back to the question about water to make it look like water....my swimming pool to my new abode above ...what would you suggest....I have been playing with settings all day to no avail.......the grey with the lilly pads....???? Hello Mr. Big Blue Helpy Guy...are you there????

I'm tripping turn off a node turns it off to the Render engine. If and maybe if the texture uses SSS that could cause the texture to still show but I do not think so.

For waters in DS its all surface settings Trish. I have a Tutorial I found on DA that I use most times I'll hunt it down for you.

well while you are looking for the tute ...I will re-create the hand scenario ....edit....well it won't do it now....it disappears.....oh well.....it was just like this http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/35493/ it was gone till I rendered then it showed back up....stuff just happens to me just like when I click on Vicki and then materials and put a full body mat on this happens and I have to click on another one then click back to the one I want to get it to cover her....

Trish there is I believe a Stack error in DAZ Studio. When we have been doing lots in it sometimes the Stack does not clear and that causes a error. When you do something you know should work and it does not. Close DS and try again. That is one reason I use 4 saves of every scene I work on. If one stops working correct I close DS load it again and SEE if that reset things to the proper stuff. If not I close DS and open the Next older file. Most times the Close is enough to fix every thing.

I now have my Drive hooked in and am hunting that water tut for you.

Trish, I showcased that set, are you talking about the water in La Hacienda? (I think that's the name of it.) There were quite a few posts in my thread 1 on doing water, and the Links section I'm sure has the water posts. The links are the very first post in thread 2, easiest way is just to use my signature. I'll go check it out too and see what's up.

Trish, I looked and yes, just use the signature below and go to the first post of the second thread listed below. You'll see the Links section and then there is an entire WATER list. The first thing is this-if you don't have really, really good lighting your water will be dark. If you have everything else right and not enough light, it's a waste of time.

If you're making a plane with water, put the image in the bump at 127%, negative -0.50 and positive 1.00. Put reflection at 58.3% white, no refraction, Multiply Opacity should be ON. Diffuse was black at 100%, Glossy 74.8% and white. Ambient black at 50%, play with opacity to see what you like. Lighting model plastic. Smoothing on, angle 89.90

Got that from a tutorial in deviant art, I tried it about six months ago and worked like a charm. Note they did not put the water image in Diffuse, it is in BUMP only.

I'm trying this now- I had to put the image also in Diffuse (I thought so, but the tutorial didn't have it.)

Le Wet Water we do have I say. Good going. So happy to help and Novica has so much info in her threads. I'm starting to become obsolete as the threads grow faster than I can post.

Well, you don't want to see Novica's results. True, I was piddling around really quickly as I hate to say, "Yeah this worked for me months ago" but this time my piddles were pathetic. I'm in the middle of five other things though so just abandoned it for now. Trish, looks like you got the reflection going and the dark is gone. Good for you!

Novica: thank you...... This is .......Elf Witch.....ok I am really liking these new lights but I can not figure out why I can't use a background with them.....any ideas...it does not compute why I can add buildings and stuff .....but no background....they are skies of economy by dimension theory....

Because the SKY is a HUGE Dome with the Cloud texture on it. Your Background is loading, it's behind the Dome and not getting any light as the Lighting is designed to be inside the Sky Dome. Sky sets like Skys of Economy were built for the sky to be used more than the lighting. But they will work as either. Just expand the set and turn off the SkyDome and you still have the lights...

Great pool scene, the water looks awesome. I haven't worked with water surfaces too much yet. Still working on lighting and DOF ( as seen in my new studio posting). Today I am tackling Bryce again, just getting it reinstalled at the moment.
