    .....Water Town....

A large part of the South West of England currently looks just like that.

And the South East as well, particularly Surrey and Berkshire. I knew it was a good idea to move up into the Welsh mountains and leave Surrey behind. OK there is also some flooding in Wales in low lying coastal and valley areas, but we are ok up here at 1200 ft.

It has been unbelievable all round. We live on higher ground (for Essex) and yet the lawn is like a swamp.

I frequently travel to Swansea and vast areas along the M4 look like lakes. Our poor dog hasn't had a proper walk for weeks and, when he gets to go out, he has to be hosed down every time before he can come in again......but that's nothing compared to what a great many are experiencing.

Yes it is really bad in some areas. We used to live in Richmond Surrey, and have been watching and seeing areas we know well getting inundated. We are now right on the cusp between the area known as the South Wales Valleys and the Brecon Beacons National Park, and consequently get some pretty wild, wet and windy weather, but we can watch the water running downhill past us. Even today the weather can't make up it's mind whether it wants to rain, hail, sleet or snow, it is a bit mixed up. They had a very weird phenomenon up in mid Wales this morning, when an area of soggy peat bog managed to catch fire. Now how can that happen in this weather?
