Winston: took a break from teaching to visit the beautiful mountains of Colorado...........
I love it, A much needed break from the 85.8F 53% humidity weather here (With severe thunderstorms almost nightly). You need not worry "Mr. Big Blue Helpy Guy", I think the White stuff bypassed you on it's way to the south pole. After it had it's fill of dumping on us almost every Monday.
I have a complete tree of folders in the "Scene Subset" now. It is so useful when I don't want to fuss with loading five different parts of a figure (body shape, head shape, body mat, whatever, etc).
Kori, hmmm. Now why did I not think of her. I just got the Olympia6 Pro pack this month. I must have been to busy with Studio lessons to concentrate on the new collection of stuff here. It's on the list. As Jaderail pointed out, there's allot of figures, I get confused sometimes.
I wasn't going to suggest surface editing with that wagon, it looked like allot of surfaces to click threw. It looks good so far. And yes Save the scene (as you go), and the Scene subset at the end. Scene Subsets make life so much better.
and here is Kori now posing in different metals.....so I can figure out what looks better....I would still rather have your weather...wanna trade??....LOL
you sure, it's bad for computers, radios, etc.
How can the humidity be 100%, lol. Pull out the scuba-diving gear, lol
Now I somewhat recognize her, guess the hair and outfit do make that much of a difference.
Kind of like when I took Fw Yasmin, put a poodle skirt and black curly hair on her, just not the same figure, lol.
.......hope you have a boat you might need it....LOL....sometimes I even take kori and pop in another G2's eyeballs...I do that with the men stick female eyes in because they are just not real enough looking...and you are very right about the hair and clothes make a big difference on how they look
Well it looks like we are ALL getting the same weather, hope y'all evade the Hail weaning zones. It's why I try to get sleep during the day, it's cooler at night. (Edit, and now we have a flood watch, must be that 100% humidity, rofl)
Looks like I got my first outside theme of sorts with the "Slaying the Dragon Bundle" lesson. I'll need to do that lesson, and many others. Maybe someday I'l find that sky-dome thing so I can get out of that gray box. I'm going to have a "bad breath mint", and think about it, how much heat do I want in here today, Will the Graphics Card die of heatstroke, lol.
Lessons sound like just what I need to do also........nope no rain for me.....
sorry, got sucked into looking threw sail items, just window shopping at this point. Now have 40 relatively expensive items in my wishlist.
As for lessons. I grabbed all the free ones I could locate. found one I missed today (Create 'Fiery Genesis').
As for the ones that cost funds, I look at them and ask, "Has Szark already coverd that in one of his threads"?
things like this "The Basics of Lighting"
http://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models-and-content/the-basics-of-lighting
There are lots of vids online, it just takes a Google search to find them. Some are good, others are lacking.
even dair I say, Wikipedia has some good stuff.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-point_lighting
So do "I" need to spend funds I don't have right now for a lesson? [shrugs shoulders].
Don't let the complex things stop you from having fun, if you like the lighting, it dose not matter if it is not the "Standard" three point method.
I don't know if you have checked this out but it has some good stuff http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/28192/ I also dig through here when looking for direction http://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/506/ I have learned some pretty cool things from these contests like how to make shaders and I made new clothes for Albert
yea I liked that E=MC^2 shirt. It's a cool shirt anywhere.
I may get some Polo shirts with that on the pocket, so I can sport that in more classy events, lol.
I didn't relies Jaderail started a thread like that. Tho as a twist of how he put it back on page 30-ish, The forum is vast and I have only been around a miniscule amount of time. There is so much stuff I haven't gotten to yet.
I just discovered a whole class of Studio 4.5 vids on sail cheep (Free for PC+ members I think).
http://www.daz3d.com/dreamlight?p=4
Have yet to download them, let alone watch them.
Personally, I never use the :"standard" three-point method of lighting. Instead I try to use more "natural" lighting with my "light source" being either an actual light (or lights), if indoors, or the sun (simulated through a distant light set above and at an angle to the ground), and typically six more distant lights with very low intensity (typically around 20%), pointing up at 30° angle from below on the X axis, and set in a 360° circle at 60° intervals on the Y axis for "ambient" light for outdoor scenes. I don't usually do "studio" photoshoot scenes.
coolness. I had seen a light setup that looked like a compass with eight lights, I couldn't find that diagram again today. Yet another example of breaking the three-point rules.
I think the three-point was merely a concept of the different basic lighting techniques/types, rather then a strict light placement strategy. Even at the bottom of that Wikipedia page, they add a forth light to illuminate the back drop. Why not double up the lights, and place them opposite to each other, or any thing else for that matter.
Hello Trish
Looks like some more light reading (apologies for the Pun), and a special thank-you for that blue-purple coloured snarly looking dude for putting them in one spot - excellent reference material !!!!!! The lighting is a whole field of expertise just on its own - just when I thought I was starting to get ahead in DAZ.
Also thank-you to the other people who have added to the lighting info on this page, another couple of days of reading then trying to apply what I am learning.
Dr Crab :-) I had a look through your posts quite a while ago, I vaguely remembered the Einstein VS Crab renders but could not remember exactly where or who had done them. Had in mind something similar, but with an anime style pirate looking out of a telescope while the Crab snuck up behind him with those big pinchers ready for action.
Regards, Bunyip
I will point out the Free movie by Dreamlight on tips for lighting. The only draw back is giving DL your email but the pro side is the free stuff offered once an a bit is very good free sets. The rest of the time the DL emails are just adds. If I can live with them you might be able too.
Go here and collect all the Free tutorials, in for a penny in for a pound I say.

Haven't been around lately been playing with my new armor...pretty wicked looking isn't he.....here kitty kitty kitty........LOL
Is that what you call a Shadow Cat?
The black background and black cat fooled me into thinking this was a shot of just the armor.
Well done.
Kismet: Good title !!! I was hoping that he would show up a little better...probably should mess with the lights more....The armor is so cool though and it fits over the fur.....(only tried it on him so far....)
I like it the way it is. The whiskers show up on the front view and his ears are highlighted on the side view. It is one of those images that the longer you stare at it the more details appear. Really cool.
Of course it could also be a case of me not being very observant. :red:
PS: You can use that as a title if you like.
Kismet: Thank you!! Here is the Jag. on a white bg.....there are a lot of adjustments buttons on the parameters tab for this armor that I am still messing with...it may cause a little post work but not much....using the fur...comes in 3 colors which is cool...Barb did a really good job on this!!
....As Far As You Go.........
I can't believe it - thats the park I am looking for %-P
...LOL bigh
New Project...sewer...check me on the lighting... 6 point lights set to 70.....6 linear point lights set to 200 fall off 353.04 color=255 195 97
Light bulbs yellow glass in the lamps yellow also....
looks great to me
I like your cat(s) Trish! I really like that product, it really draws attention to the cats. They can be active or lounging around and they still grab the viewers' attention. I like the lights on the last one, good glow and shadows.
bigh: a ok thank you
Novica: Hello mentor.....thanks for the input on the lights.....so you got the battle cat also? I just think he is so cool!!!
I haven't gotten it yet- I'm being a good girl and sticking to budget :)
I just heard about my buddy Big Blue Helpy Guy and I am in shock....I hope he knows how special he was ...he taught me more than he will ever know and was always there to Help when ever he could...I will miss him!!
We all miss him. It is good to see you around.
I for got to say the lighting in that tunnel scene looked good, in agreement with Novica.
And no, it is not a sick joke, as much as I wish it was. Big Blue Helpy Guy, is...
