I can assure you that it was extremely difficult the first year, when it was a Mod challenge.   We had a 3 or 4 stage voting system set up in the end.

My apologies, @Cholole. I never meant to imply it was ever easy.

Voted, but the choices were very difficult to make.  I have a suggestion for next year - each person gets to use 10 votes.  If there are a large number of entries, and not a huge group of voters (I don't know how many voters there are), but each person gets to vote 10 times, then the difference between winning and non winning entries would be greater.

    Awesome entries everyone!

    Voted! :D

  • I voted !!!!!

And not for my own entries, didn't think that was fair (though, as far as I can tell, there's no rule against it).

Don't think voting for first, second, and third places is the right way to do it. Just let everyone vote (the number of votes each person has doesn't matter) the person with the most is first, next highest is second, and next after that is third, dead simple. The way it is now allows for the possibility that the second place (or third place) got more votes that the actual first place entry. Hardly seems fair.

Any way, just my two cents. Thanks very much or organizing everything and keeping it going. I don't do guys very often and this contest gives me some incentive.

I didn't vote for my entries either, it's not normal too. I did do something I consider a mistake in hindsight in my voiting though and didn't vote for 2 entries for 1st & 2nd that I actuaally liked as 1st & 2nd, only the 1st place entry, because those two were by the same artist and I thought someone else should get second place. Which is wrong, really! sorry!, but likely my one vote not cast for that artist's for 2nd place entry (in my mind) won't make a difference in whether they get second place or fmy one vote for them for irst place isn't going to change the results - but it might so big mistake..

I've seen too many votes thrown with fake votes not to restrict the number of votes per voter to one. In fact I once made a picture with Poser & DAZ Toonimal Puppy long ago where I one second place with a few thousand votes but the 1st place winner had well over 100K votes I think it was. Obviously a lot of scripted automated fake votes were cast but I didn't say anything when the winner wasn't disqualified. The most straightforward way to get a clear vote as to the favorite is 1 vote each for the voter to cast for their favorite and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd places come from the 1st place totals. I think it was only asked for us to cast 2nd & 3rd place votes and then grant 1st, 2nd & 3rd based only on the total for all of those totals. That isn't necessarily, almost surely, going to be the as 1st, 2nd, & 3rd decided only by the votes cast for 1st place.

Whew! I just voted - what a job! There were so many that I wanted to pick that just three (plus the category ones) was agony.

Well done to all entrants - there are some great images there.

And thanks to KM for the Herculean effort that must have gone into organising this.

So many quality entries to choose from!

Thank you KM for coordinating all of this and to everyone who participated. It was great inspiration to see all the wonderful artists we have around here.

Win or lose, it was a fantastic experience to participate.

No, there isn't a rule against it. I'm not sure there is a way I could enforce that if it were a rule.

Technically, you aren't voting for first, second, and third. You are voting in your order of preference. Each spot has a number associated with it as it's a matrix that will add up all the votes and and the ones with the most votes gets first, the second goes to the next, and the third goes to the next one highest number.  It's possible for an image to be consistently voted in the third place slot and still come out the winner because it got more votes overall than any of the ones that might be voted on for third. I hope this makes sense. It's just the way the matrix on SurveyMonkey works. Believe me, you would not want me to be the one that does all that math!

Any way, just my two cents. Thanks very much or organizing everything and keeping it going. I don't do guys very often and this contest gives me some incentive.

It's a lot of work, but I enjoy the challenge each year. I look forward to seeing all the images this challenge generates so I'd be very sad to see it disappear. Even though I'm not on the forums the last few months as much as I was previously so I can concentrate on my writing, I'm still here and I expect I will still be doing this challenge next year. It was exhausting but so much fun. I may regret the wish, but I hope we have even more entries next year.

Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't voted yet, voting ends tomorrow, January 24 at Daz midnight! Get those votes in if you've been procrastinating!

I'm not sure how this would work but it's something we can think about for next year. Based on how the software evaluates the voting, we could try either letting everyone have more votes or adding more slots to the voting matrix. I'm not completely sure how the matrix works but I think we can add up to ten slots and then each person picks their top 10, maybe?

We can discuss this after the voting is final when we wrap things up and are ready to discuss any changes people want to see for next years contest. I'm open to suggestions to improve the contest.

  • Voting ends tonight at Daz midnight so get your votes in if you haven't done so yet!
