Oh I'll go along with that ... "very related" ;-)
Yay ! we got hinge behavior !
( though the hinge axis is not where it was expected
--
figure 2 looks like the position of the axis is relative to the hinge'd body
Amy completely confident that the twin-hinges experiment will proceed without a hitch

1 hinge because with 2 hinges it got interlocked i guess

I like that swing allot. *WANT* :-)
i'll try to post it very soon, i want to make it modular enough
i have to rename some materials
fix issues with the roof tiles
the whole thing is 34K polygons most of it in the cute roof tiles ... so i may make the roof tiles removable
----
redone the animation with a less brutal push-cube :)
---
for the record this is a replica from memory of the swing our friend/neighbor
had at our summer cabin, it was facing a small lake, maybe 20 ft from the shore
and there was a circle of rocks to make fires in front of it
and the place didnt have too many mosquitoes in the evening
This all looks really good! Looking forward to trying it out! :)
the initial release will (probably)
have the physics primitives
cube cylinder box capsule cone
and the constraints
hinge, point, 6 D.O.F, slider, twist-cone ( for rag-dolls)
---
Amy as the bat girl vs the tower of ... something probably nefarious
the tower of doom and gloom
which is unexpectedly white

lol ... with a handy baseball bat in her hands! ... the suspense!
she's concentrating ....
yes and then the fun! ....
the motion is ready, next , physics
256 physical bodies times 100 frames ... a bit of a heavy load for a daz studio script ... will it work ....
Strike one - the tower of gloom and doom explodes before Amy has a chance to hit it
gotta rebuild a tower with air gaps between the blocks
Strike 2 the ground apparently became non-solid
I think the weasels ate the tower before our girl could hit it! lmao
Amy makes it to first base ! :)
maybe the bat moves too fast
i'll increase its mass and spheres of influence
also if the simulation was longer the tower would probably have crumbled
Homerun for Amy ! down goes the tower of gloom and doom !
That's one tough gurl! lol
She's going to require a protection shield around her!
her powers are many :)
them blocks of concrete are but feathers to her
Top of the tower begins to fall before she begins to swing.
I hadn't noticed that, Eustace. She is REALLY powerful.
Top of the tower begins to fall before she begins to swing.
in the early tests the tower exploded or sank before she could hit it
so this was an improvement
next tests i should figure how to get stable structures

got initially more stable towers now
that tower is shakin in its boots
Video woo hoo!
i gathered recent Amy VS The Tower of Gloom and Doom tests
and made a YT video

Fig 1 - ( again ) working on making sure rotations make sense ... they seem to ... but why is that block refusing to jump off the cliff ... it became self aware obviously, John Connors
( later that night ) actually the culprit is quaternions with near-zero rotations ...

physics project news
minor progress, the script can now handle objects that don't have their origin and center-of-volume match
in this animation, still only 1 hinge being simulated, the other hinge is handled by a custom script
things i had to contend with :
i have to hand over to the physics-engine the positions of the hinges ......
in the reference-frame of the constrained object
and this means, the rotations too
so the hinge is not at ( 0, 0.5, 0.867 ) from the cube's point of view
it's at ( 0, 0, 1 )
it also means the Hinge Axis needs to be given from the cube's point of view
it gets complicated sometimes
