How is she doing? You mentioned earlier that she was in the hospital.
She sent me a thank you last Saturday. Though she didn't mention if she was home or not.
And I'd just like to point out, someone gave up a full 200 cups of coffee… anonymously.
Oh my! Wow! That is impressive.
Woot, I think the goal was met! I hope GypsyAngel is our of the hospital and recovering. Thanks Novica for really spear heading the efforts to make the situation known, and how wonderful to see the Daz community come together for one of their own.
She posted an update today. She's going home tomorrow.
Nah, I just got the ball rolling with the contest but KindredArts put the word out in the PA forums, L'Adair has donated money anytime she earned a bit extra, the entire Art Studio community and other forum members kept pitching in to keep it inching upward. With the hospital stay (she was in three weeks, so when I chatted with her last week she was being moved to a regular room, so two weeks of that three she was in ICU. )You KNOW those hospital bills are going to be staggering. SO WE'RE NOT DONE YET FOLKS. :)
I still have to laugh at Simon donating $63 in honor of my 63rd birthday- made my birthday really special!
I see the goal has been increased to $4K. I still think it should be higher, but if she reaches the goal quickly, $4000 should be enough. Breaks my heart she was in the hospital and now has new medical bills hanging over her head. I think it's time life cut her some slack… so I'm praying she reaches the new goal in a few days.
Did anyone buy Kikuri? I don't see a blush option, and I won't touch her unless that blush can come off. I hate it when it's the default. I saw a MU option but not sure what that includes. I do like the more natural look where the brows start, and it's not the lawn-mowered brow look (clipped short hairs all across the bottom, no natural introduction of hairs, among other things. All hairs being the same length as the other, except where the brow starts) that many vendors seem to be fond of- and I've stopped buying most characters because of it.
Go to thumbnails showing the eyes which also have the brows. See the hairs at the end? That's what I look for.
It's really hard to say. Looks like blush is present in all the promos except, possibly, this one:
The right cheek of the figure on the left appears to be free of blush, but the hair hanging over the face on the other two obscures the cheeks and makes it really hard to tell. (Not my kind of character, so I won't be buying her.)
Yeah, I already scrutinized it- and wasn't sure if it was just the lighting.
So no one bought her I guess. (I didn't.)
Here's an interesting weather tidbit-
The Atlantic hasn't had a named storm since Barry which was July 14, and there's not expected to be a new storm in the next five days. The last time this happened in the Atlantic (July 15th through August 19th without any named storms) was way back in 1982.
I bought her basiclly for the tattoo haven't loaded her up though
Virginia HD (G8F) Elysa Hair (G3/G8F) dForce Horizon Outfit (G8F)
Shown under several different lights. If I ever use this outfit, will definitely be putting a skinz under the cutout top area. Talk about a low dip!
I think Skirt 01 goes better with Dress 03 than the Skirt 03, there's more of a contrast. I really hate the thumbnails as you have to look really hard to see the difference in outfit 1, 2, 3, etc. unless it's the pants or the skirt.
Has anyone else tried this outfit? I did the basic dForce and the dress seems rather stiff, flaring out. The pose is a simple stance, legs are not extended outwards. Keep in mind I really haven't fiddled with dForce so it's probably me and not the outfit.
Hair Style 2, 8, 9 are the ones which get the hair to lay on the chest (8 and 9 are more the curve onto the chest) but be sure and click on the braids as they show up in Scene and not over in Parameters. (or not that I found) I wish vendors would put ALL the hair over in the Parameters. Why not have a Braid section, just like you have Wind, Movement, etc?
Click to enlarge, click again. These are 1200px
Can't really see the skirt 01. Just try it with the green dress and see what you think.
Finished the Strand-Based hair on Noggin's Brown Rat. Still some work to do as it has turned out black

That looks good Sandy- even black!
I think it's funny you have to go to Isla to see the back of the bikini. The bikini product itself doesn't show it ON a person, which it should.
You'll note the back in that is a different shape than the clay on the bikini promos.
Hmm... That might suggest the bottom shows too much buttock to suit Daz…
My Kakarikis are scheduled to come home this Saturday, today they didn't seem interested at all in the formula when the birdstore offered it. So they didn't eat any- aka- weaned completely if they do it again tomorrow and Thursday!
I am moving the outdoor fountain I got earlier this spring for the outdoor birds, and putting it in the bird room. I'm eventually going to bring in pavers and tropical plants and a tree or two (I think) and create a tropical corner like I made for my brick and mortar store business back in 2010 (I had a ceramic pottery studio where folks painted the bisque, had children's paint your own pottery parties, etc.) Folks loved the waterfall fountain and tropical plants atmosphere while they painted. I picked this fountain due to the light dripping and shallow but WIDE bowl so they can flap their wings to their little hearts delight. Didn't know I was going to have Kakarikis a few months later LOL.
If you'd like to create a bird friendly yard or have indoor plants for your birds, this is a GREAT site if you want to know what plants / trees birds can be exposed to. Some real surprises on there. It probably pertains to dogs, too. Before you bring in plants to the bird room, use natural ingredients that won't hurt your birds to kill the bugs. Ask your local petstore and verify it with your own research. Thoroughly rinse with water even when ingredients are supposedly "safe." (Birds are individuals, just like people. One bird may have a severe reaction to the barely-there fumes while others are fine.)
As a general principle, at home, I try to keep the outdoor birds outside and any inside birds, well, I want them to stay inside the cat. Makes a mess otherwise.
On last Sunday evening we had a Sparrow perch on top of the bedroom door between our bedroom and the landing. When I spotted it, it was fast asleep, head under its left wing. And it was sitting above a crusty heap on the floor where it had made itself comfortable just before going to sleep.
If a bird starts the evening inside one of our three cats, that's where I want it to stay. I really don't want loose feathers/skull/innards being vomited up over the carpet.
As for 'Indoor Birds'; Really not a good idea with three hunting cats. The cats would have hours of fun, but the birds wouldn't enjoy their short lives very much. Our Maine Coon has worked out how to undo shootbolt latches and open fanlight windows, so a bird cage would be easy.
Regards,
Richard
After a lot of experimenting ans slider shuffling I think I have the colouring for the brown rat as close as I can get it

While I don't have pet cats or pet dogs, it's the pet cats that have been vanquished by the abundance of pet dogs. I'll spare the the description of what that looks like having seen it and it's very cruel. It's one of the reasons why I won't have a pet cat or a pet dog myself. Those pet dogs though, well at least one of them that was allowed to run loose and threaten me was vanquished by the county animal control worker and his tranquilizer gun. That made a bloody mess of the dog's ribs. I also keep a big supply of pepper spray and when it's not being used to spray my fruit & nut trees, it's also used on any cat or dog whose owners are abusive enough to allow their pets to habitually wander into my yard in spite of all the city & county ordinances against that.
@fishtales That rat now looks really, really good!
@Novica
A lot of Ctrl/Z work went into that
I'm never going to catch up. Just popping in to say hello and that I have missed all of you! Hoping things slow down soon so I can get properly caught up!
Missed you! Catch your breath, we'll be here.
Here is something interesting.
I used Studio 4.11 to render the rat all the way to the end. Sun and Sky only.
2019-08-21 22:45:33.521 Total Rendering Time: 10 hours 51 minutes 42.64 seconds
Studio 4.11
I then closed it and used Studio 4.12.0.47 (64 bit) Beta.
2019-08-22 13:35:48.780 Total Rendering Time: 2 hours 5 minutes 36.66 seconds
Studio 4.12 Beta
That is quite a difference in render time. CPU only.
That's huge. The 4.11 render was more than five time slower!
I did a comaprison test render too, using Quality and Convergence, which I normally keep off. My results showed 4.12 to be almost three times faster than 4.11 with the test scene, using one GTX 1080. My scene included fiber hair, but no strand-based hair. (Anyone interested in seeing the complete comparison can find it in my WIPs thread here.)
I'm curious if the strand-based hair contributed to the difference between the two browsers, or if the smaller difference in my tests was due to the GTX 1080…
I don't know why it was such a difference. I will go back again sometime and render in Studio 4.11 and see if it does it quicker with a second go :)
It could just be the render engine in 4.12 works more efficiently with CPU than the older version in 4.11. Or it could be changes in 4.12 to support and speed up rendering the strand-based hair.
If I had Noggin's Rat, I'd ask if I could have the duf file to test it on my rig, but alas, I haven't bought the rat yet.
