Sounds very pretty! I've been thinking of being very daring and using lemon chiffon painted vinyl siding with baby blue trim & doors or baby blue painted vinyl siding with powder puff pink trim & doors. Something like spring & Easter colors.
That Army olive green and accessibility beige are holdovers from the 70s. The house my dad got a mortgage on in Indiana had those colors along with almost all the neighbors. If it didn't have that Army Olive Green as the accent it had an unconvincing flat mustard-gold color instead. The beige was a requirement you'd think though since they all had it.
This was Hugo 30 years ago. OMGosh look at that EYE!
Folks living in Florida may get a visit by Karen, IF she holds together. The storm will make a sharp turn west (after heading north to parallel our peninsula.) There's a heckuva lot of shear to get through and uncertainty is high whether Karen will even hold together.
If you want to read discussions by weather geeks (some getting their PhDs) then go to wunderground.com, News And Blogs, Category 6, click on any article and you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and see up to date charts, cool gifs like what I posted on Hugo, etc.
Hmm, almost made a boo boo so thought I'd mention this to you. Don't forget if you're a PC+ member, that using your $6 off Daz Originals coupon is probably going to be a better bet on buying one NEW Daz Original than if you're using that banner- even the 17% ones.
Example- the 3RFD Suit is at 51% off and $12.23
At 17% off (my banner) it's 10.15 in the cart so I save $2 plus small change. (59% off)
If I use my PC+ coupon I'll save SIX DOLLARS. I almost forgot about that! So I can get that nifty outfit for $6.23. 75% off. Sold! Seems like a good time to search your wishlist for the 50% off new DO's if you haven't used your DO PC+ coupon yet. Use it on just one DO to get the full $6 off.
I used my 7% off coupon on some Fast Grab items, since the other coupons didn't apply.
I lived in Florida for 4 years as a child ('74 - '78) but we didn't get so much as a hint of a hurricane or tornado. We did get a few snows though. I didn't get a tornado or hurricane until I lived in Kentucky in '08 and got a tornado and hurricane that knocked over 75'+ trees in my yard both times.
i like that! Very retro. I approve.
There was a recent article about home sales where realtors encouraged owners to paint their homes neutrals.
This color is drab and dreary, I prefer cheerful colors especially since there is a lot of fog.
We got that same one - 900,000 without power after 3-hours of clear skies but horrendous winds. Trees down all over. We were without power for 4 days. Fortunately it's rare to have them get this far north and cause that much damage. The one good thing was that it was September and the weather pleasant so all the neighbors were outside talking and grilling food.
Thanks for the paint app ideas, I can’t wait to try them. Right now I’ll leaning toward neutral cool gray for most of the house, grayish colors for the bedrooms (such as a gray with a hint of purple or ther is also a sea foam gray. I may also go with accent wall. Molding and baseboard white. I may try a wilder color in a “cloffice”.
Bernard HD (Silas 8) WWII US Uniform HD (G8M) Greyson Hair (G3/8M)
I think Bernard is very distinguished looking. With this lighting, I did darken the uniform quite a bit in the Surfaces.
Greyson Hair is a good military haircut IMO.
It's true tornadoes sound like freight trains, scared the crud out of me. Ha, sort of reminds me of way back when I was in high school,me & a classmate drove all the way to Kings Island and got on that big wooden roller coaster, I think it's called "The Beast". I told him it was full of termites and a strong wind would be enough to send it tumbling down underneath us while we riding on it.
Funny you should mention it. We were at KI the day the remnants of Hurricane Ike came over. All was well that day, moderate temperatures and blue skies. We were waiting for a show to start just as the wind started to pick up. The light fixtures were swaying more than you'd expect and soon they announced the show was canceled, the park was closing, and go to your cars. As we walked by the Eiffel Tower we saw a tree down but the wind didn't seem all that bad until we were in the parking lot and you had to bend your head down and push your way forward. On the drive home, we saw trees toppled by the interstate but nothing worse until we got near our neighborhood. Just about every road we tried had trees or power lines down across the road. We finally threaded a path through to our house (we had no damage but the power out). Schools and businesses closed for the next couple of days. Interesting there was no rain and the skies were clear. The wind only lasted 3 hours but was over 75 mph caused by Ike colliding with an adjacent front (article).
By the way, you can still ride The Beast. Celebrated it's 40th season this year. Those termites just didn't get the job done I guess and it withstood the winds. I ride it once in a while but since it's wood, it get's out of alignment and can be a rough ride.
No banner either day, so the wishlist grows. Daz is really curing my habits of checking, daily (multiple times), and making purchases. The "loyalty" isn't coming this direction.
GypsyAngel is one of the Select Artist Catalogs today, with discounts of 40%/50% on non-DO products. She still needs our help, so if you've been waiting for the right opportunity to both acquire more of her products and give her a helping hand, today may just be the day. Be aware, buying Daz Original items in her catalog will not result in her receiving additional funds as Daz has already purchased those from her. Buying DOs by GypsyAngel will, however, be one way of letting Daz know you want more of her products, giving Daz plenty of incentive to buyout future products from her.
Her GoFundMe page is still active, as well, if a direct donation of $5 is more to your liking, (linked to in my signature.)
It's been a long time since I got up at the crack of dawn to drive to the city rose garden and take photos. Here are a couple of renders reminiscent of the kinds of images I was after in the early morning light.
Red Roses
And another camera angle…
Red Rose
(The second image is in my Deviant Art gallery and links to the DA page.)
Those roses are gorgeous!
I agree, those roses are beautiful!! @LAdair
Thank you both, @RGcincy and @Novica.
(I've been doing some viewport captures and comparison renders so I can feature them in the kitchen. It took me less than a day to put that scene together and set up two cameras—in spite of the fact I kitbashed that rosebush, three products into one plant.)
It's such a beautiful image L'Adair! Once can almost smell the roses :)
Thank you, Carola O.
I've been working on more myths and legends for the PC+ competition. This time I'm recreating a nineteenth century oil painting, John William Waterhouse's Hylas and the Nymphs, which hangs in the Manchester Art Gallery. I can't link to the original because of TOS issues (though it's easy to find on Google) - I had to raise the water level and rearrange some waterlillies to meet the rules here, but otherwise it's as close as I can get it.
Hylas was one of the Argonauts, and was sent to fetch water. He came across a pool occupied by these nymphs and ended up getting a lot more water than he bargained for. The poor lad was never seen again.
Hylas and the Nymphs

Recreating a painting in Daz was a super fun challenge. Trawling through my runtine to find items that matched those in the painting wasn't easy, but it was a chance to rediscover some old treasures. Star performer here is Sea Nymph Hair, which not only provides the waterlily flower, but looks great (on the nymph in the middle holding the pearls) once retro fitted with the OOT hair shader from rendo. The only thing I couldn't find was a model of a yellow flag iris, I made do with Butomis from this set instead, which are the right height if not the right colour.
To get the layout right, I used the following technique:
Have a go at copying a painting. It's fun to see how close you can get, and to examine tiny details of the original work that you probably would never notice if you looked at it in a gallery.
That is AMAZING. Love the diluted lighting. Really gives a false sense of serenity- poor dude!
I just sent out a batch of PMs. If you didn't get one, you can ask on here for someone to send you one. I HAVE to get to sleep, it's going on 5am. So please help each other out. :)
Great idea and an outstanding result! thanks for sharing the design tips as well
Really good copy, Chris - I love it!
@L'Adair those are so beautiful. I had rose bushes in my back garden in California and I sorely miss them. I have many images on my camera and phone that I have taken of them and the Wisteria. So miss them. Your render is just breathtaking.
@chris-2599934 - My first reaction was I was looking at a painting itself, I then focused in on your words and the reality of 'Yes a render on the DAZ Art Forum'. Your work and explanation is amazing and so thoughtful.
My thanks to both of you, but also, everyone on the Art Forum and who visit Novica's threads. For sharing, guiding and helping one another in so many ways.
I had dropped by to thank @Novica for her email, alerting me to the sales. It made me pay extra attention to what I did this morning.
Mary
Super roses & super mythos scene too...
If you're having trouble getting in to DIM, here's the fix according to Cris (and it worked for me)
Ok, so I was told log out of daz and close down dim, then log back in and re-open dim and that worked.
I've been trying since yesterday to download and install one iten (Braided Band Hair) via DIM. It just keeps coming back with "download failed." I'm assuming that's because their servers are so busy pumping out 4.12 to everybody.
So I figured out how to do the downloading manually, but keep DIM in the loop:
This is good advice.
If you can save the file directly into the DIM downloads directory, though, you can save a step.
But... I'm right here!
(Great render!)
Okay, you really, REALLY should head over to Humble Bundle to get 998.00 of Corel products for 25.00 for the bundle. It's AMAZING stuff. I got it, and most of the items are perpetual licenses- NOT ONE YEAR. Gravit is one year as is Parallels Toolbox. So you can at least fiddle with that a year! It's a great deal. As you know, I primarily use Corel products, and now's your chance to pick up a fun animation tool. Be sure and click on the products and watch the videos to see what they do.
And thanks Charlie Judge for telling me about it. Everyone spread the word!
