Tested out the new G8F to G3F convertor. It works best on fairly mundane character morphs, but it really earns its keep by converting the base textures as well as the morphs-by far the least fun aspect of manually back-converting a character from G8 to G3.

Seen here, Rita back-converted to G3F.

Thank you. Didn't know about it.

Interested in Painter, is it a perpetual licence? did you have a chance to try it?

Years ago I was using Corel Paint and Corel Draw.

Okay, you really, REALLY should head over to Humble Bundle to get 998.00 of Corel products for 25.00 for the bundle.   It's AMAZING stuff. I got it, and most of the items are perpetual licenses- NOT ONE YEAR. Gravit is one year as is Parallels Toolbox. So you can at least fiddle with that a year! It's a great deal. As you know, I primarily use Corel products, and now's your chance to pick up a fun animation tool. Be sure and click on the products and watch the videos to see what they do.

And thanks Charlie Judge for telling me about it. Everyone spread the word!

Big thank you to @Novica and @Charlie Judge for this! I wasn't going to spend a single penny more this month but I broke when I saw this.

@xmasrose it's a "Lifetime perpetual license that supports up to 2 devices". I haven't downloaded the rest yet (just Painter), I'm having so much fun playing with this. I really must start watching the tutorials though as I'm sure I'm missing lots!

Just to let everyone know- my aunt died at 10am this morning, I just got the word. It's Mom's last surviving sister so I'm headed over there in a few minutes to tell her. Aunt Allie Mae (love that name, so old-southern) was on morphine and had been since last week, so it was as peaceful as possible for passing away. Mom is 91 so we didn't tell her as her blood pressure may have spiked due to worrying, and there was nothing she could do. She went to see Aunt Allie Mae July 21st and they laughed and giggled and shared stories with my sister (who took Mom to see her.)  So the last memory is a fun time.

So I won't be getting around to trying any of that stuff, but Corel is GOOD. And if you watch the videos, you'll see how easy it is for the different products. :)

I'm sorry about your aunt, Novica. I hope your mother's health and well being is not hurt too much by the news. Mae must have been a popular name around that time. I have an aunt named Myrna Mae.

Thanks all- my afternoon went very well with Mom. I was there about ten minutes before I told her, and I led in to it about Aunt Allie Mae not eating since last week. So Mom knew it was coming, she got teary, then we spent the next three hours laughing and telling childhood stories. I taped one for Linda, Aunt Allie Mae's daughter, and texted her with it so she could have a smile today. Here's the story-

Mom was 13, Aunt Allie Mae was 11. All the brothers / males were off to WW2, so the gals did a lot more of the farm work. Well, they were picking cotton from the family field. Aunt Allie Mae was much better and faster at it, because Mom HATED those cotton caterpillars. When it came time to weigh the cotton, Mom SNUCK BRICKS in the bottom of her basket when it was weighed, so it appeared she really trounced her sister at picking cotton!

(You have to understand, my mom has impeccable manners. Always treats people the way they should be treated, always does THE RIGHT THING. So this is a real hoot!)

Funny. I used to love hearing the stories my parents & uncles & aunts told but I can't hardly remember a one.

Oh, my! Sorry to be late; I'm just now catching up on this thread. Anyway, my sincere condolences to you and your family.

I've been busy getting the Corel Humblebundle and installing it. I'm very happy with the products. There are about 10 days left to get it if anybody still wants it

    Thanks everyone.

A cute story- a man who worked at the barn (and adored Stetson, they were BUDS) left and moved to Houston. He came back last night, gone two years. He had worked here for four years, and Stetson was SO excited to see him that he was whinnying and stomping at his stall door. They said it was so adorable to see the horse and man reunited after a couple years. Stetson definitely knew who he was, he only whinnies a certain way for me (it's his deep and throaty whinny, not high pitched)  and he was doing it for Jose. Stetson's "Papa" is back!

I'm finally moving into a new Iray era as I bought a 11-gb 2080TI RTX card to replace my ancient 2-gb 760 GTX card as I had pretty much given up rendering in Iray as it was always so slow.

To start the process I had to upgrade the PSU (power supply unit) and decided I would do that first and check that all was well before installing the card. Good thing I did. I used the new cables that came with the PSU except for the SATA drives, as the connectors were threaded through various slots in the computer and I figured a SATA is a SATA so I just plugged in the existing ones. Turns out that was a major error as the computer wouldn't boot. Fortunately I could find the boot drive in the BIOS and manually start it. Since there was a problem, I switched over to the new SATA cables and it boots fine now but the data drive is still not detected. Looks like it got fried from using the old cables. So if you're replacing a PSU be sure to use any cables that come with it rather than the old ones, as they may no be wired the same.

I now have to install a bunch of programs (including Daz Studio) and bring over files from my backups. Not all bad as I'll clean out 6+ years of clutter. Then I'll be ready to install the new GPU and give it a try. Fingers crossed that all goes well.

@RGcincy  Oh Rich, I'm sorry that happened!  You're going to be having fun rendering, that's for sure. Welcome to the world of fast renders! What's the difference in GTX and RTX?  I have GTX but of course that means nothing ot me unless I have reference materials in front of me (like when I did my laptop shopping. I had a chart of comparisons with about twelve rows of things to compare.)
