i need to go pillage the neighboring kingdom to add gold decorations, so i'll release the table tomorrow instead of today ( i did make really swell UV maps for everything, also the table top drawers and legs will be prop nodes so one cab re-use them ))
Neat. You did thicken the legs up I see... Looks really good!
This project is really amazing. Excellent work! I am looking forward to the release :-)
This castle looks better with every update, but the floor looks i.m.o. not royalty and needs another texture. If you have photoshop, here are a few free patterns. The one in the middle of the last row would match better to your ballroom as the simple parquet

This one would also match better (the small light one on the Promo picture)
http://jammurch.deviantart.com/art/Tileable-Wood-Textures-12571996?q=boost:popular+in:resources/textures+wood&qo=24
But please take that just as suggestions.
thanks, i was planning to release the castle with a simple floor texture like a checkerboard ... because i want to resume work on the scripts (physics engine, lattice deformer, kinect, 3d paint, mirrors, water ... )
the real life Chateau de sceaux uses marble geometric patterns i think
( photo William Curtis Rolf -- Staircase Escalier )
the important point is that ithe floor will have a UV map that ensures there's no distortions/stretching and there will be 1 surface material per floor
But maybe the floors will never be royals
It don't run in their blood
That kind of luxe just ain't for them,
they crave a different kind of buzz
Kidding !!!!
* Lorde - Royals Lyrics
substantial changes to the stairs
notably the use of spiral instead of circles for the lower stair steps
and the ramp is terminated on a post - which is closer to the real castle
- also the door-windows were rebuilt
there will be an optional panel to block the stair window
---
Oh my god this is fabulous and fabulouser! :cheese:
WOW... this is just gorgeous. The stairs look much better and the floors are too!
Oh those floors are gorgeous. Very nice indeed.
see this type of twirly ornament i used to look at this as very complicated and almost out of my reach but now i do them ! yay,
one of the things that help me overcome my sort of phobia is that i saw a youtube video where the wrought iron uh (smiths is it?) were making the twirly S' elements using a simple to understand tool
it must be called fathomability :) i can now fathom the twirly things
well you see the stairs were blocking 2 windows ( in the real life castle they indeed panel out 2 windows from the inside ! )
so i redesigned the stairs module
i will also try to make it possible to load only the right side of the stairs module and push it in the left corner
because it looked good too
WOW. You work amazingly fast Casual. Looks great!
This is really fantastic looking! Truly a Grand Staircase. Now the kids won't have to share the rail when they want to slide down. They can have races. Very clever of you.
W O N D E R F U L!! I love the portrait of the dog with the collar looks like an old portrait of a past master.
it's images by German artist by Michael Sowa
" fowl with pearls"
and
"film hound"
( it's sold as posters on the net )
they wont be included in the castle though
i was making a reference to Amélie's bedroom in the movie Amélie
Amy toyed with the idea of trying her BMX on the stairs but sanity prevailed
Really, this project is getting better and better! Yet the floor is still a bit 'modern'. McGuyver made nice floor tilings at Sharecg; some of them come very close to the original floor shown above in your pic:

http://www.sharecg.com/v/33112/gallery/6/Texture/Tiles-BeauMont-collection
thanks i'll include that list on the release page
initially i didn't really intend to do something definitive about the floor, i just will make sure the floor panels are easy to texture, even the wall's texture is very temporary - often i use checkers because i can see if the texture is distorted and sometimes letter to see mirrored textures
yesterday i figured i should simply check out Versailles for all the issues, like curvy stairs for example
photo : http://blouguiblogue.blogspot.ca/2012_07_01_archive.html
i reworked the stairs, adding curved corners and making them faster to climb not wasting time walking across a uh "palier?" ... plateau-floor
and i'll be able very soon to post a stairs construcyion kit, very modular that lets you build stairs for your needs
--- also possibly i'll publish a stairs/ramp generator script for really custom designs
2 ways to soften the stair ramps "shoulders"
WOW... totally awesome. A suggestion for the modular stairs your going to offer. How about some different options for the railings rather than just the rod iron curly cue design? How about some wooden slats or what ever else you can think of? That would be very cool!
I have to agree, as variety is always a good thing.
a while ago i published a daz studio script to create cutouts and lathed objects
mcjSuperLathe and before that mcjLathe
the stairs generator will come with 1 or 2 cutouts that give the extrusion profile pf the rail
each stair step will possibly also be based on a cutout
for the balusters, you'll probably have the option of specifying the object (obj) of your choice
so you could create a lathed pole, using mcjLathe, then ise it for your balusters
-----
in the short term, the staircase props will come with my twirly balusters, possibly a simple lathed-poles version
and as transparency maps,
using the proper transparency map and displacement/bump maps, you sould be able to create very intricate and detailed balusters
===
in the image below, the blue cutout was used to create the gold rail

figyre 2 shows the ramp for a Kafka-Escher rail
fig3 - ... we're just watching an image we dont make promises

------
Raise (regular, transitive)
If you raise something, it means that you elevate it - you move it up or lift it to a higher level.
Rise (irregular, intransitive)
If something rises, it means that it elevates itself - it goes up itself. No external force is needed to lift it. But note that there is not always a physical movement; sometimes the meaning is just "to increase".
some very acceptable soft shoulders for the ramps as generated by the ramp generator
subdivided by daz studio but the generator will eventually do the subd
not sure how/when they will be used but that's 22 rail shapes
i'll possibly post them as props and as mcjSuperLathe presets
This railing stuff is amazing, as well as the Chateau of course. Nice work Casual.
the rail builder script will probably be usable to create painting-frames and an other router-edged things
there's already on my site some scripts that can do extrusions - mcjRibbons and
mcjSuperLathe notably
the handrail builder will also be an ...enything extruded builder
here you see the UV map ( texture placement ) before i adjust the script,
later i'll post the same one with a marvellous color and bump map applied to it
WOW... neat and nice. Love the picture frame idea!
