Oooh, good to know. Thanks for showing that! Gives a whole new world of opportunity to brows.
Okay, so wait. Which one are you talking about for ChevyBabe because the first link was to Backlight - Hair Shaders for Iray. Then a minute ago it flashed to something else. What on earth is going on with the forums? Earlier, as I said, it wouldn't take a link and kept going back to the one I had done on another post (and yes, I checked the url that was entered and it was right, but still went to the wrong thing.) A minute ago when I clicked the Backlight Hair Shaders I went to another page, and now it's back to those. so is the Backlight one the correct product? Grrrr.
Edit- found it, it was going to https://www.daz3d.com/real-hair-shaders-for-dforce-and-strand-based-hairs but now it's back to the Backlight one. Which should it be?
Today, for those that like the i13 environments & poses if you buy an New Release or Still New Release most i13 products that DAZ 3D bought out on sale are going for $1.99 if you have them in your cart the same time as the New or Still New Release.
Attached is what I bought.
Novica I was worried this might cause confusion 'Have you thought about some CC brows and use the on of the chevybabe25's two coloring system for them?' If you click on 'coloring' it goes to one product, and 'system' goes to the other. And after I posted I realized 'system' should have been 'systems'.
I will have to be more careful on my posts in the future. Also, I understand that when you are showing a character for the first time, you do not want to adjust from the baseline character. So this suggestion is just as a follow-up how to fix for anyone who is trying for a special effect. I have found I have to go through fits for older characters, with mixed gray/brow/black brows and hair. There are very few if no brows that are a mix of white/brown or white/black or white/red... Or if there are, I can't 'see' them in the little icons on my screens.
Mary
They linked both one link was coloring the other system. Both products are great. Althought I don't think Backlight was made specifically for SBH. MMX Blended Dual Lobe is another one that does SBH. Then theres also Colorwerks which you can sometimes get good results with SBH although I have not tried it in eyebrows.
MMX Blended
Colors used with MMX blended.
Colorwerks 2 different purples
It's not all i13 products, but a lot of them. If you look at her shop, a lot of her products are listed at $4.99. If you buy one (or more) of those and stick a "New" or a "Still New" in your cart, you get it (or them) for $1.99.
Seems to be a secret sale, take advantage while you can!
Those products are part of the Daisy 8 sale. You can add up to 5 to your cart and they will drop from 4.99 to 1.99. If you add a sixth, the price reverts to the higher.
It looks like @memcneil70 answered. :) But to try and clarify - when they added the words "coloring system" they had the first word "coloring" linked to Backlight Hair Shaders, and they had the second word "system" linked to Real Hair Shaders. Though it looked like one single link, it was, in fact, two different links. That's likely the reason for the confusion. :)
Well, waiting on Tropical Storm Cristobal's main effects to get here later today. Already rained this morning and a few 20mph gusts. I told the barn owner, "Isn't it a shame when you have a good estimate for wind gusts, based on knowing the wind speeds for weeks due to a fire?" When we were at the barn, we knew when the wind had dropped below 25mph during the fire and when it went up. Elaine and I are walking meteorologists! We can even tell you when the wind shifts.
Anyway, depending on the wind (up to 50mph gusts) we may lose internet so I'm focusing on using that today. What I'm doing is going through my Genesis 8 gals, starting with the "A's" and seeing what I haven't rendered that I would be interested in using. Since renders are scattered throughout the threads, I'm going to post the renders already done the past year or two. I'm not linking them again as I need to focus my time on moving along through the alphabet.
If you want to go through your alphabet for Genesis 8 gals and repost them, it may be a fun walk down memory lane for a Saturday. :) Feel free to post your "A" gals (Genesis 8) (I think these are all Genesis 8.)
Regardless, here's the question- How many of your "A" Genesis 8 gals have you actually rendered?
If the hair is mentioned, I'll mention it, etc. It may not be the full, correct name for hair or outfit. I can only go by the render name. So here's some of the past renders in the letter "A"

Alana and Bodysuit (G3F/G8F) MRL dForce Curly Bun Hair (G8F) TIme-Honoured Entrance
Agrippina (Babina 8) Elan Hair (G8M / G8F)
I do not like Agrippina's eyes, the pupils are in the center of the eye and small. Therefore, they have the pupil widened and narrowed, with other fixes applied in the first image. The second has Adeline Eyes applied.

Will someone test the 3 in 1 Dungarees and see if you can apply the materials to the shirt? The shirt is labeled Dungaree Crop in the Scene tab, which makes no sense to me. (If you shut the eye, the shirt is what disappears.) I tried applying the owl material, then a few other ones, and the default striped shirt remains. Won't apply any other material.
Alright, this is WEIRD. How is it possible for me to load the 3 in 1 Dungarees in my Content Library, but according to DIM it isn't installed?
EDIT- even installing it, it still will not take the materials.
EDIT- I shut down the studio and tried again, still will not take the materials.
Ahura (G8F) dForce Saul Hair (G8) 3 in 1 Dungarees (G8F)
I darkened the teeth a bit as they were snow white, and darkened the Saul hair too. The 3 in 1 Dungarees is not applying the materials, even after reinstalling, so I'm going to shut down the studio and reopen it to see if it works. That will take awhile as my studio is extremely slow. I will be adding the Genesis 8 females in individual posts, but also putting them in the post which has the list of renders, a couple posts back.
Edit- after uninstalling with both the DIM AND Content Library, the materials loaded. So it is a Studio issue, not the product. Disregard the next few posts :)
those are promo art quality mostly, good job
Thanks :) Note I edited the post above. I shut down the studio and that outfit materials still will not load, even after reinstalling.
This is the first time I'm noticing Aurore... what a stunning character!
(And quite versatile as well, when I look at her sales page.)
Onto my wishlist she goes... Novica, you should get a cut of that sale!
I also wishlisted her because of the renders by Novica. @Novica I don't have that outfit so I can't test it for you.
@daventaki @hylas Glad you discovered her :) Stay tuned all day as I render more gals (only the ones I think I'll like. Some were in bundles and I wouldn't have purchased individually, so I am prioritizing unique gals, and a variety.)
No idea about DIM, and I don't have the set.
But, do the materials take if you apply them as if they are shaders? I've had that once or twice with other sets.
Also, to narrow down where there might be a problem: does the set take shaders? - doesn't matter which ones, just pick something random.
I have the outfit, and I am firing up one of my render computers.
Airess (Alawa 8) dForce Lea Hair (G8F) Advent Outfit (G8F)
Moderators- note the link to the Lea Hair may be wrong. It spells females as femaless There is a Lea 2 hair but that shouldn't cause this to be labeled with 2 s's.
I didn't see anything in Parameters to get just the tips of the fringe to lay down, you basically move the entire fringe in the Advent Outfit. If you go into Scene and select the collars, they do have morphs to bend and twist right there in Scene. However, it pulls the top of the strands away from where they connect. You'd only be able to do minute changes I think. I'm not focusing on that outfit and have to move along, but do note you can test in Scene as well as Parameters. I'd like to see just the tips lay down flatter, as even in the promos you can see them curving outwards. You can see with this particular lighting the feathers look flat and slick, so bump would be a consideration. (Lighting is Pro-Studio) Pose is Delight for Gabriela 8.
So far as Airess, I personally don't like the line in her nose (seen from the side) but that's just personal preference. I definitely do not like the blush being baked in, there's no natural look.
Note: Lips 3 in bonus is what goes with those hot neon blue eyelashes. They don't look like they do, they look grayer. But if you apply any of the other blues, they aren't the same color. And eye 12 is not blue eyes, it's one blue and one red. Not shown in the thumbnails. The Lea Hair color will be Lea 10 Blue 2.
I tried it using surfaces and as a shader, before I posted. But thanks for the idea. I, too thought maybe it was mislabeled. :)
I used a new character to test, Abyss for Daisy 8, put the dungarees on her, JooJoo Sneakers and Variable Hair.
I had no issue changing the materials in the crop top or the pants or bib, except when I didn't pay attention and tried to use another shirt's material for the crop top! That woke me up. Novica, could you try uninstalling and reinstalling? I have been having issues with files all of a sudden not working. I have to uninstall first in Content Library, then in DIM - uninstall, reinstall, then reinstall in Content Library. It works, just a pain when you wanted to use that item in a render 'now'.
I did have a problem with the character that I have to test further. I just did, the color of the skin doesn't fully show up unless you are in Iray Preview. Another smaller render is running. I only ran the renders for partial times, 60% and 70%. I didn't use any of the makeups as the clothing is casual. The brows and eyelashes have a great selection of hair colors.
I loved how the hair moved with the pose from CDI Poses for Daisy 8 and Gen 8 Female.
Mary
I'm rendering right now and it will be a long time I think, but I'll try the uninstalling in Content Library in addition to the DIM reinstall. It didn't work with just the Dim reinstall. I'll let you know, and thanks so much for checking. @memcneil70
You are welcome. I am enjoying the characters. And I am glad you made it through the recent storm.
We had a line of severe thunderstorms rush through here with 60mph winds last afternoon/evening, uprooting healthy trees, branches, it was quite fierce. Then gone over the plaines.
@memcneil70 Okay, uninstalling both the DIM AND Content Library worked for the 3 in 1 Dungarees, it is a Studio issue. And then I had the same problems with a character. The brows didn't show up and wouldn't load. I'm really getting tired of this. I'm having to uninstall in DIM and Content Library several things I'm rendering today. If it keeps up I'm just ditching this for awhile as I don't have time to mess with it. Re-rendering the character now. It's a scene and it will take about thirty minutes, back later.
Aliet for Leisa 8 Wild Waves Hair (G8F) Buccaneeress Pirate Outfit (G8F) The Strongroom
Aliet has many options, such as translucency, lightening palms and soles of feet, specular, etc. The eyes have great detail. I dulled her teeth slightly as I don't like Pepsodent white.
Wild Waves Hair, I took the forehead section off in Surfaces wtih Cutout Opacity, there wasn't anything in Scene but I didn't check Parameters.
I'd recommend Everyday Poses and Expressions for Genesis 8 Female and Gia 8, as there's a nice variety.
If you want a pirate room, consider The Strongroom. Lots of crates and barrels, typical of historical times. The Pro-Studio HDRI lights work well, but here's a tip- keep your character facing FRONT and rotate the ROOM. We covered that years ago in my thread- set the light up like you want it and then make the set adjust to the light. I merely hid a wall, then grouped the shelf and its contents (Create>Group after you select all in Scene) then moved a barrel to the front to add to the DOF illusion.
Edit- Thanks to Mary I know the name of the outfit. :)
